April Free Knitting Pattern – Doctor Dolly

EDIT _ There was a minor error in the torso part of the pattern. The file has been rectified.

I don’t think the UK has appreciated it’s NHS more than it does right now in this awful global pandemic. They, among many key-workers are keeping our nation afloat and the vast numbers of rainbow patterns flying from my Etsy shop this week is a nod to how much we are showing them we care.

I made this little doll for anyone who is knitting for a special medical worker in your life and hope you enjoy it. Scrub colours can be changed for the nurse, doctor, carer, or any care professional you want to gift.

We didn’t have enough of one shade so please ignore the stripy tunic. We had to make do with currently being unable to go out and just buy supplies. I think it does look rather interesting though lol.

The free PDF download is below the pictures.

Read with us for April

We are setting a read along for April. You don’t need to join in but you can if you want. You can discuss the books and read along together in here and I have no issue with posts about it.
The books for April are the flowers in the attic series. (Dollanganger series) by Virginia Andrews. An oldie but one that actually influenced my writing style so many years ago.
You can read at your own pace. We are only setting one book but feel free to jump in and read through as many as you like.

The first book is – https://www.amazon.co.uk/Flowers-Attic-V-C-Andrews/dp/1476775869

The books from this series are as follows
Flowers in the Attic
Petals on the Wind
There Be Thorns
Seeds of Yesterday
Garden of Shadows

There are 3 more known as ‘Christopher’s Diary books’
Secrets of Foxworth
Echoes of Dollanganger
Secret Brother

The blurb for book 1 –
At the top of the stairs there are four secrets hidden. Blond, beautiful, innocent, and struggling to stay alive . . .They were a perfect family, golden and carefree–until a heartbreaking tragedy shattered their happiness. Now, for the sake of an inheritance that will ensure their future, the children must be hidden away out of sight, as if they never existed. Kept on the top floor of their grandmother’s vast mansion, their loving mother assures them it will be just for a little while. But as brutal days swell into agonizing months and years, Cathy, Chris, and twins Cory and Carrie, realize their survival is at the mercy of their cruel and superstitious grandmother . . . and this cramped and helpless world may be the only one they ever know.

A Read Along YA Werewolf Romance FREE

What does a romance writer do when in isolation, home schooling kids and overwhelmed with anxiety so she cannot focus on her heavy roller coaster romance POV to accompany her series?

She writes a light YA romance to entertain her followers and hopes no one judges her too heavily on the lack of time it’s taking to write.
I am posting a chapter minimum a day and have just moved the first 6 to Wattpad for all to access.

The story is being written for a phone app but it is not under contract and I am well within my rights to share it with you via other platforms.

I’m not a YA writer, and I have never attempted any kind of werewolf romance. SO this is a challenge to stave off the stress while in isolation.

Enjoy and let me know what you think as it progresses.

Stay Home and Read – Have Some Freebies

In light of recent situations and the fact I am in isolation myself, I am offering a free book to anyone who wants one. Can be either any one of my Carrero series books (there are 9 books, 2 bonus books) or my standalone, Just Rose. All I will need is a little message with your kindle address (not your email address), book choice, and you need to make sure your kindle is set to accept this email – leanne_t22@hotmail.com
I will also be setting the 2nd trilogy to free in a couple of days and then the third trilogy, two weeks after. I already gave freebies on the first trilogy so Amazon won’t allow that for another 3 months. Don’t worry. If we are in isolation for many months I will repeat the freebies every month as long as Amazon let me, just rotating the trilogies and Just Rose.

I hope to be well enough to also get the Alexi’s POV finally finished once I recover.

Stay safe, stay home and read my books xx

Free, Easy Knit Charity Bear

This months freebie is a little late but I think he is super adorable and can be forgiven. I wanted to make something charity related and after seeing many requests for small bears for a number of charitable causes, I came up with this cute fella. He measures 6 inches tall, so a good handheld size and a quick knit.

As we are moving into spring and Easter, I figured he would be cute in a suitable palette that coincides with this months theme for our monthly craft challenge.

Happy Pancake Day UK

Everyone is drumming up those expected pancakes today, so I thought I would share my tried and tested Marshall family favourite pancake recipe. Most folks make the thin crepes, but Scotland loves themselves a scotch pancake. thicker fluffier and a little sweeter. This recipe is one I tweaked when my kids were young and are a proven success every time I make them .

Our tradition is either to drop some choc chips in the batter as we fry and serve with ice cream or to slice some banana and throw them on top with whipped cream and toffee sauce. They also taste great with plain syrup or just butter.

Ingredients

2 eggs
A half cup white sugar
2 tbls oil (we use sunflower)
1 cup of milk (we use whole milk)
2 cups of flour (we use SR)
Optional – 1 tsp vanilla essence

Method

Start with your two eggs, add the sugar and whisk until well combined. Add the oil and mix wellAdd your milk and whisk until very smooth. If you are adding vanilla, add now.Add flour at half a cup to begin with, whisking well to combine. Keep adding until consistency is like double cream when still pour-able. Stop adding flour when it gets to that stage. It should be easy to pour but thick enough to coat a spoon.Throw a little knob of butter on a pan and light at very low heatPour your batter into the centre, about 3/4 of a cup and swirl your pan around to spread it out. You want a layer of batter about 0.5 in depth. Cook until the under layer browns and the top should have bubbles forming. Flip over and cook for a few seconds on the other side.Serve with your desired topping and eat right away.

Enjoy xxx
