Writers converge on IndieRecon 2014

On Tuesday morning, the online writer’s conference IndieRecon (http://www.indierecon.org) gets underway, in which I am thrilled to be participating in a small way. The conference, running from early Tuesday 25 to late Thursday 27 February (EST), will combine Facebook, Twitter, IndieReCon chats and Google hangouts to host events and activities for writers.

On Tuesday at 14.00 EST/19:00 GMT, I will be participating in a Google+ hangout entitled “Seven stages of the Creative Process in Writing a Book”, hosted by Orna Ross (http://www.ornaross.com). For those of you who don’t know her, Orna is co-founder of the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi) and was named by "The Bookseller" magazine earlier this year as one of the 100 most influential people in publishing. We will be discussing novel-writing in the company of various authors who are at differing stages in the creative process.

I am also happy to be able to announce that my first novel Celia's Room has been included in the IndieRecon Conference giveaway. On publication, it was described as “successfully capturing the zeitgeist of Barcelona”. Another critic said: “If you know Barcelona, you will find the descriptions and characters completely authentic. I could almost smell the Gothic barrio.” It explores the characters of Joaquim and Eduardo on their separate quests for artistic and personal fulfilment through nights of sex, drugs and deception in the pre-Olympic city.
