Mother Tongues
I’m a wordsmith
But in Arabic
I don’t know
How to speak
Couldn’t find myself
To your home
Without stumbling
Through language
But no one at the airport
Would know I’m a poet
Nor would a shopkeep
Suspect me in English
Not now, at least
Do I know your tongue
But someday I will know
And it will lash me free

Trash Pandas
While we slept
You saw the bounty
Tents and sleeping bags
Not guarding their cookies
Punching holes in bags
Of cheesy popcorn
Lifting latches on
Our outdoor bins
And you scrambled off
With the most delicious
Of them all:
You had to take the cookies

Baptized
I can’t even drink
Water
Without thinking
Of you
Pouring through my dreams
Washing away
My fantasies
And making yourself my reality
Cleanse my palette
I don’t want to be left
Without the taste of
Something pure on my lips
Nourish me
Keep me alive
For three days
At a time
When I don’t have anything else
My body will still crave you
And the baptisinal thoughts
You dive my mind in
Carve me up like a canyon
Like a river run through
My badlands, photogenic
You’re my companion
Through the thick and...

Eid
You were beaming without a care
Knew I was taking you out
To dinner
But you didn’t know where
Could have ended up
All cuddled up
On my couch downstairs
With Tim Burton movies
But when we arrived
All your friends had
Already been there
To blindside you
Was never that good
At surprise parties
But everyone who knew you
Was ecstatic to be a part
I thought this that morning
As Hunter and I bought decor
And food platters and set up
The room for everyone
So proud was I as I left
To go get you
None t...

Hunter
I stalked prey
Late at night
And just after dawn
They didn’t know me here
The hills, the sustain
The pain of the day
The rush of walking
In another’s shoes
In following the path
The risk associated with
Faking most days
In camouflage
Something that wouldn’t
Be suspicious, or wouldn’t
Stand out
Is it improper
To hunt without
Wearing your pith?
It’s the genetic survivalist
In me praising the brilliance
Of taking truth with a twist
Not lying
But telling half-truths
And leaving the rest behind
Le...

One of my friends, Guy Larson, is in the midst of a cool little project with nude photography and creative censorship using lewd poetry and scripture. I, of course, offered my poetry to be used in this endeavor, and as such have been revamping some more organization on the back end.
Unfortunately, as a side effect of all this, anyone subscribed to my site for email updates just got bombed by like 19 erotic poems and I do apologize for that. That’s a lot of erotic poems to suddenly flood one’...
