My Review of Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

Lord of Shadows
by Cassandra Clare

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My heart. My heart has been ripped from my chest. Every Cassandra Clare book gut-punches me in the feels, but I think this one has to be one of the most heartbreaking. I haven’t felt sorrow like this since the Will and Jem scene in The Infernal Devices.

I love the way that the characters were paired off for this installment of the series. Everyone complimented each other and it was nice to see relationships grow. I particularly loved Christina, Mark, and Kieran. They had so much chemistry together, and I honestly can’t choose between them. They can be my first 3tp.

I also love the development of Kit! What is it about those Herondales? They are always so damn fascinating! I like that he’s finding his way in the shadowhunter world and finding he actually belongs there. His relationship with Ty is so special. I love the way it is described; I love that the issue of autism is being addressed and normalizing it makes me love Cassandra Clare even more. I also love that their relationship isn’t all about Ty being different, it’s about the way they make each other feel. They have an understanding of one another, they have built trust.

Another thing that always touches me about Clare’s books are the strong emotional bonds between family. As someone who would do anything for my siblings, and as the oldest, I really can relate to Julian. Every single time he talks about his younger siblings I catch feels. Remembering them as babies, seeing how far they have come and the immense sense of pride they give you, the worry that you always have for them, all of those feelings are present in this book.

What can I say other then I need Queen of Air and Darkness NOW!

My Review of Grave Things by Lindsay Mead

Grave Things
by Lindsay Mead

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the characters in this book. They became like dear friends by the end.

The pacing of this story is one thing I found a bit off. It would be very fast paced then slow to a halt, especially in the middle of the story when there is a change of setting. I think a lot of that section could have been condensed to keep the story moving forward.

There was also a bit of instalove going on. I think that letting the characters get to know each other a bit longer would have endeared them to me more.

That being said, this was in no way a bad book. I found myself laughing often and even fist pumping a few times.

Vi is an exciting and different MC, and I loved her. She didn’t take crap off anyone, she held her own against every adversary she came across, and at no point did I ever think, hmm I hope someone comes to rescue her. I knew she had this. I did enjoy her closeness with her step-brother, Aaron. I felt like the two really cared about one another. Lana was also a great addition to the team.

The ending of this book is a rollercoaster ride in all the best ways, and I am anxious to read the next book to see where Vi and her crew go from here.

My Review of Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson

Tiger Lily
by Jodi Lynn Anderson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an imaginative and captivating retelling of Peter Pan! Tiger Lily is told from the perspective of Tinkerbell as she observes the courtship of Peter and Tiger Lily. I love that we were able to grasp the thoughts of other characters through Tinkerbell. I also enjoyed the richness of the characters. Each one well-developed and with purpose rather than a few fleshed out characters on a backdrop. I genuinely felt like I knew these characters and was experiencing this book as I read it. This is a retelling unlike any other I have come across, and I highly recommend it!

Bloodlines Cover Reveal!

The day is finally here!
I am so pleased to reveal the cover for my new series starter
Bloodlines: A Forget Me Not Origin Story.

The Illustrator is Kasia Krzysztofowicz and she is brilliant!
She’s also the artist responsible for the cover of Forget Me Not!
I can’t wait to reveal that one in June!

Bloodlines follows fraternal twins Anso and Ava at the very start of magic itself.

When Anso discovers there’s something different about him, something inhuman, he knows he must keep it a secret.

His father, his entire village would disown him, or worse.

There’s one person, however, whom he cannot hide from, his twin sister, Ava.

Ava sees right through Anso’s distress and promises to keep his secret while yearning for a power of her very own.

As Anso explores his newfound abilities, he also finds a friend with a similar problem. Could there be more like him?

This is the story of how an ordinary boy became a legend, a leader, the sister who stood by him through it all, and the best friend who taught him to embrace his differences.

Fans of X-Men, Harry Potter, and The Mortal Instruments will enjoy this series starter.

You can pre-order Bloodlines for just .99!
