Double Publication Day!

Today, Tuesday 17th July, is

Double Publication Day

for

The Daughter of River Valley!

Released as an ebook and an audio book on the same day, The Daughter of River Valley is one of the first books to come out of the new close working relationship between my publisher, Choc Lit, and the audio publisher, Soundings.

This new release is the 3rd novel in my Cornish Tales series, which are stand-alone novels, with romance, passion and drama at their core. Linked by family, these tales tell the stories of three women who face the hurdles of their time and find true love on the way.

And what of The Daughter of River Valley? The woman on the cover is Beth Jago. She appears to have the idyllic life, a trade to earn a living and a cottage of her own in Cornwall’s beautiful River Valley. Yet appearances can be deceptive …

Come and celebrate its release with me, by clicking HERE to find out more.

On this very special day, I would like to just take a moment to thank my publisher, Choc Lit, their amazing publishing team and their dedicated Reading Panel and Stars, who have supported and published The Daughter of River Valley.

I would also like to thank Soundings for producing a wonderful audio version of this very Cornish tale.

So why not put your feet up and escape to Cornwall by checking out the download sites HERE.

The Daughter of River Valley Cover Real

I am delighted to reveal the cover and title of the third book in my Cornish Tales series –

The Daughter of River Valley

Shortlisted for the New Talent Award at the Festival of Romantic Fiction in 2014, I am now thrilled that Beth Jago’s story will be published by both Choc Lit, as an ebook, and Soundings, as an audiobook on the 17th July.

Book Blurb

Beth Jago appears to have the idyllic life, she has a trade to earn a living and a cottage of her own in Cornwall’s beautiful River Valley. Yet appearances can be deceptive …

Since her grandfather’s death, Beth has been receiving threats, so when she finds a man in her home she acts on her instincts. One frying pan to the head and she has robbed the handsome stranger of his memory and almost killed him.

Brought together by unknown circumstances, and fearful he may die, she reluctantly nurses the intruder back to health. Yet can she trust the man with no name who has entered her life, or is he as dangerous as his nightmares suggest? As they learn to trust one another, the outside threats worsen. Are they linked to the man with no past? Or is the real danger still outside waiting … and watching them both?

Tea in Oxford!

On the 17th May, I undertook a flying visit to Oxford. I had received an invite from Isis Publishing and my audio publisher, Soundings, to afternoon tea and as it was my first opportunity to meet and personally thank them for signing up both  The Thief’s Daughter and The Captain’s Daughter, I was determined to go.

Becky, from Isis Publishing, and Aimee, from Soundings, were very welcoming.

It was also great to catch-up with fellow Choc Lit authors Morton.S.Gray, Sharon Ibbotson, Evonne Wareham and Sue McDonagh, as well as making some new friends along the way.

I found myself next to the delightful author, Katie Fforde, and having a good humoured discussion on whether to put jam or cream first on a scone. Needless to say, I did it the Cornish way, jam first!

The Thief’s Daughter CD

I made the journey from Cornwall as a day trip and only spent a few hours in Oxford which is known the world over for its university and history. Some thought it was a long way to travel for a small, informal event, but it was worth it as I could say thank you to the people who made one of my writing dreams come true.

The Thief’s Daughter Audiobook Publication Day!

Today is Easter Sunday, a time to celebrate the resurrection and new beginnings. It seems fitting, somehow, that on a more personal level I am celebrating a new beginning of my own.

The ebook and paperback formats of The Thief’s Daughter have been well received since their releases last year (I would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all the wonderful reviews and support I have received. I really appreciate it).

Today, 1st April, I am delighted to share the news that the novel is about to start a new journey as an audiobook. It is published by Soundings and a great way for me to start April!

Available to buy from all audiobook retailers, including Amazon UK and Amazon

To buy the CD version click HERE.  Why not ask your local library to stock it?

In the meantime, I wish you a relaxing and happy Easter weekend and hope that the good feelings it brings will continue for you for the rest of the year.

Book three of the Cornish Tales series will be out soon. Watch this space for more news or sign up to my newsletter to keep up-to-date about new releases.

Listen Very Carefully …

I am excited to share the news that Soundings has begun recording the audio book  version of The Thief’s Daughter. Their choice of reader is the very talented and experienced voice-over artist, Emma Powell. Emma has the perfect voice for the novel. It is soft, husky, mid-tone and expressive, which I believe can only add to the experience of being whisked back in time to the 18th century.

I am very happy with the care Soundings are taking to produce a quality audio book and cannot wait to listen to the completed version. It is always nerve-wracking to handover a novel that has taken a year or more to create, but now I know that Emma Powell is breathing life into my characters by the use of her expressive voice, I feel confident that The Thief’s Daughter’s audio version will be the best it can be and worthy of the new audience waiting to hear it.

The audio book version of The Thief’s Daughter will be available from 1st April, 2018.

The End Of One Year & The Beginning Of Another

I always find this time of year a strange time. I look back at the previous twelve months with a mixture of happiness, sadness, satisfaction and disbelief for what has played out. Strangely, I almost feel the same mixed bag of emotions as I look forward to the year ahead …

I enjoy writing, however writing is a solitary affair so it is always wonderful to hear from people who have read my books and meet potential new readers. I had a chance to do just that at the Wadebridge Christmas Craft and Gift Fair in Cornwall which was held as part of the festive celebrations in the lead-up to Christmas.

The event reminded me of how fortunate I am to be a published writer and how luck played a major role in achieving it. There are many great writers out there who are yet to be discovered. It is a shame that people who love books may never get the chance to read their words because their writing does not “fit” with what is believed to be the “in thing” for today’s market. I hope those writers persist in their dreams and do not let the rejections grind them down as the majority of authors have received rejections at some point in their life too. I did. Learn from the constructive feedback, but do not dwell on the others. Their words of rejection will only eat away at your confidence and, ultimately, your dreams.

As I mentioned earlier, luck also plays a major role. However, luck is a flighty, evasive “animal” that is opportunistic and appears from nowhere. It does not wait for those who dither and will disappear in a blink of an eye. So keep an eye out for it and, if you should spy it, grab it with both hands to make the most of its company. Nurture it and let it multiply because everyone deserves a little luck in their lives.

So, as this year draws to a close I’d like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope your dreams for 2018 will come true … and that the year is full of luck waiting for you to grab it and make the most of it.
