Private Tasting Dinner at Clarity
Mark makes for a very handsome dinner date and looks quite at home in Clarity’s kitchen-view cellar.
Mark and I had the pleasure and privilege of attending a special progression tasting dinner hosted by Chef Jon Krinn at Clarity. This Michelin style event was held in Clarity’s private, kitchen-view cellar and accommodated a party of 5, a party of 4, and a cozy table for two where Mark and I sat.
Jon Krinn is an amazing chef who clearly enjoyed the event as much as we did, serving the dishes a...

Time for Small Press Expo 2018!
This weekend, I’ll be at the Small Press Expo (SPX)! I’m super excited because only creators and publishers are allowed to exhibit at this convention. As much as I LOVE the comic book conventions, this is going to be a nice change of scene. (I still love you, cosplayers, nerds, and fangirls/fanboys!)
I’m signing copies of Uniting the Heavens all weekend, and I hope to see you there!
Saturday, September 15: 11 am - 7 pm EDT
Sunday, September 16: noon - 6 pm EDT

Visit to the Marcaida Kali Studio
I'm a big fan of The History Channel's Forged in Fire series, a timed competition which pits blade smiths against each other in the studio forge to create blades out of anything from golf clubs to junked cars. After two elimination rounds, the final two blade smiths then get to return to their home forges to recreate an historical edged weapon. It's amazing what the smiths can do, and it's made me wonder if I could make a knife of my own. (This is the part where Mark makes some smart comment...

Awesome Con was...Awesome!
Friends, I can now say I have one convention under my belt. AND I'm happy to see you.
I know that doesn't make sense, but it was really funny in my head.
Anyway, I spent March 30 - April 1 at Artist Alley at Awesome Con in Washington, DC. It was exciting and exhausting, and overall just so much fun. I'd totally do it again, but probably not if it falls on Easter weekend like it did this time around.
I'm also going to go ahead and apologize to anyone I frightened off with my bloody eyeball on S...

2018: More Writing, More Aren
January 2018 is almost over, and I'm just getting around to blogging again. I got this brand new website last summer, yet I haven't blogged since last April. How embarrassing. So I'm determined to fix that! Goal 1: Blog more often! I have a lot of things planned for 2018 that I'm excited to share with all of you! Here we go!
Yes, there is a Book 2 in the works!I'm so excited that the exclamation point on my keyboard is worn out. The follow-up to Uniting the Heavens has a working title, and I'm...

Into the Wood
I’m not the outdoorsy type. Don’t get me wrong–I love nature. I enjoy plants and flowers and fresh air. I especially love beaches. When Mark and I went to Scotland to visit the Isle of Skye, all I wanted to do was be outside, exploring waterfalls and standing in the shadows of mountains.

Fairy Pools, Isle of Skye, Scotland
I’m just not good at being outside. Mosquitoes attack me relentlessly. I have an unnatural fear of wildlife devouring me. I have a fear of spiders. I’m not fond of the ide...

Tiedan Lullaby
My husband got me a fountain pen for my birthday, and I’ve been scribbling everywhere! The ink is called “English Roses”. Appropriate, right? I really am English Scribbling! HAHA oh, I’m cracking myself up…
I’ve scribbled pages and oodles of notes for book 2 of Aren’s story. There are conspiracy theories and love quadrangles and stars and little “omg” moments as my simple story starts erupting with back story (I particularly enjoy the segment where Aren talks to a stuffed bear. He’d rather y...

Recent Read: Alice 19th
So, back in January when I said I would clean up my act for 2017, I should have known that I’d hit a lot of walls face first. That’s just what I do. That’s what I do every year. Which is why I haven’t written a blog post in TWO MONTHS.
Okay, Em, you’re being hard on yourself again. Let’s focus on something positive.
Well, I suppose I have been exercising (Goal #4). I do a mile a day, and it’s done wonders for my knees.
I also totally smashed Goal #5 which was my Goodreads 2017 Reading Challe...
