Editing Services!

ianbrunnerswriting:

image Editing Services! Hello fellow writers!

I’m a recent graduate of the University at Buffalo’s English Department, with a focus in writing. I’m currently looking at delving into the world of freelance editing, and would love to see anything you’re working on. For now, as I’m new to this I’ll work anything up 10,000 words for free as long as you’re willing to write me a blurb/recommendation to help me enhance my reputation. I ask that you consider making a donation into my PayPal account if we work together.

If you have a longer piece that you would like me to edit I am more than willing to negotiate prices.

I focus largely in fiction and poetry, and paper writing, but I will generally work anything as long I feel can do the job well. I will focus on grammar and syntax, as well as overall content. Please send me an email at IanBrunn@Buffalo.Edu if you’re interested.

Please share this post around as well if you feel inclined!

This would be great! To bad all my novels are 55,000+

Holiday decorations threw up in my house.

I’ve been busy getting my house ready for my sister-in-law Sarah to visit during Christmas this year. She and her daughter are coming from Georgia to spend the holiday with us. Sarah said she wanted a magical Christmas for her daughter filled with snow, lots of decorations, and tons of holiday charm. I got the feeling she meant that SHE wanted these things. I doubt that her five-year-old will even notice if the house is a winter wonderland. However, I have always wanted a Christmas where it looked like Martha Stewart puked up holiday whatnots all over my house. This year I am filling the place with garland, fake snow, tiny cottages, and Santa heads. Plus, the electrician in me throws up lights in every available space. At night  I bet the inside of my house is glowing like I have a poltergeist. The only thing I have not done is added penguins skiing down the banister on my stairs. I wanted to do that, but I couldn't find penguins my dog would leave in one piece. Oh well. Maybe I’ll get that next year.

The struggle is real.

I am working on book two today. It is going slow. I struggle because I want the reader to know everything. I want to write my heart out, but I know I am too wordy and I have to cut the MS down. The book is 106,000 words. YIKES!!! I wish I knew how other authors managed to do this. I wish I had more close friends who write. I have writer acquaintances, but they are all very busy people and I hate to be that one guy who is forever asking questions. They say “There is no such thing as a stupid question.” That might be true… but there is such thing as too many annoying questions, and you want to slap the person who keeps asking about how to do things. I tend to Google a lot but Google isn’t helping me at this moment. I can not ask Google “Should I keep this part in or take it out?” Damn.

2:05 a.m.

I am starting to work on book two. Already I have had feedback from my editor that she doesn’t like it. I went down this road with book one so you would think I would be a little tougher. You’d think I’d be able to stand the heat of the fire since I had already walked through the flames. Nope.

I don’t know what I am going to do to get her to like my work. I have been kicking it around and around. It’s funny but I do understand what her problem is with my piece, it’s just that I don’t  know what direction to take the manuscript. I think my real problem is sometimes I just hate failing. Hummmm… I don't know anyone who likes to fail. If you know someone who finds crashing and burning a good time, I’d like to meet them.

A little slice and dice.

Today I am going into surgery for my wrist. The V.A (Veterans Affairs) plans to re-cut open my wrist and try to loosen the scar tissue. I am told they plan to push all the blood out of my arm, then cut it open, work on it, then close it up and let all the blood go back into my arm. I will be drugged up. I will need the drugs,  true, but the real person they should medicate is my wife. She hates it when I am injured. Anyway, I have been hard at work on book two, so I hope this little slicing and dicing doesn't slow me down on my writing. My hope is that after it is done, I will be able to go back to writing faster. I want to write a short story for Gears. For anyone who has read book one, Gears is a side character that shows up in the book. I want to give some back story to him. All my Critique partners really liked him and wanted to know what happened to him. As soon as my wrist is healed, I will be onto that book. Wish me luck and fast healing!
