Advice

A friend of mine asked me for advice on her writing. First off… I will say I have no idea why she asked me. I’m not that great of a writer, I’m learning myself. That being said, I don’t know what to say to her. I see things in her work that I think could use some TLC but I don’t know her well enough to tell her that. Plus I don’t want to hurt her feelings. Should I be honest or lie?

We put together a layout of all the stories we want to see written in the Ice Era Chronicles. This is like looking at my future… Beautiful…

A first.

For the first time, I want to write three different stories and I don’t know which one I should work on first.

I just sent off one of my stories to the editor and my other half is working on 2:05 a.m. That leaves me here with nothing that I must work on. Now is the time for my creative juice to start flowing. However, I’m at a standstill. If anyone has a suggestion on how to dive in… I’m all ears!

Ain’t no party like an introvert party because an introvert party has:

fontanalib:

You. Home alone. With your book. Because that’s how you like it.

This made me laugh out loud this morning! This is my wife’s party! Just add chocolate.

Grinding My Gears

Yay!!! I finished writing my short story… But I’ve been told today that I am not allowed to call it a short story. Because of the document size, I guess it’s a novella. I start editing now. If it grows, I will just have a short novel. Lol. I don’t care the size, I’m just happy that I’m done writing it! I am excited to share it with my critique partners next. Once I get everyone’s thoughts, then I get to share it with all my readers! Wish me luck.

A weird mix...

I was on Goodreads, and I thought it’d be fun to put up what I am reading right now. After I had finished listing the books, I paused and glanced at them as I closed the page. Looking at the list kind of made me laugh. Right now I’m reading a bunch of different things trying to get an idea or two for something new that’s rolling around in my head. The list, which contains a cookbook, tips on being a slave, and ways people die, might seem a little bizarre to some. For me, it tells me how lucky I am that I get to go to a bookstore to write. Here, surrounded by fun things to read and glance at, reminds me how amazing writing is and how fun owning a bookstore can be.

Short Stories.

So I plan to write three short stories this year besides the next book in the Ice Era Chronicles.

The first one is called Grinding my Gears. It is a short story for Gears who is a character in book 1. The second story I want to write is for Teagan. She is a character in book 2 that you meet at the end of the book. I’m calling it Tea for Two. The third story I want to write is about Sky. He is a man who almost gets married at the beginning of book 3.

This is my plan so far, but to be honest, I have been stuck on the first book. I am frustrated that I can’t seem to connect to the people in my head enough to get the words down. To help with my (if you like this term) writer’s block I am reading books that I think one of the charters might have read. I hope it helps but I am not sure yet.

Wish me luck.
