ROSEMARY'S TEEPEE

Hello,
When you think about it, there isn't enough time given to thinking. The mind and the imagination are wonderful friends when we give them time to sort things out. Thinking can result in clarity and somehow lots of pieces that seemed disparate come together and form a pattern. Facts kind of channel thoughts until you reach a point on the mind's path where you just have to make a choice. You may ask yourself if you are allowed to make the choice and when you think about that, you discover the choice is yours to make even if the choice is to defer the choice or not choose at all.

Writing "The Secret..." was a choice of sorts for me. I wasn't sure if I even wanted to ever write anything or if I had more than one or two stories in me. Yet, the more I thought about it, the more I thought that I owed it to myself to put these thoughts I had, thoughts about people who just aren't what you'd expect, into words. Styles and formulas for writing in a certain genre intimidate me somewhat. I hear of people who write a certain way because that's what their readers or their genre expect of them. Well, I don't know if I can do that or if that would take my thoughts and stuff them into a box that limits where my mind wants to go. I just don't know. Hopefully there's some genre that matches the author and forgives authors who can't seem to fit into a genre. I don't know that either.

Anyways, I wrote about an area that I think has little written about it and provides an eye opener and a window into the inner workings of some aspects of the investment world that you won't see in advertising pieces. It's kind of a wretched, sordid story but I tried to inject some humor and some "gosh, I can't believe that sort of stuff could possibly happen" or "these people are too far off normal to imagine" into the story. I took some personality traits of different people I imagined and stuffed them into a setting. Hopefully these characters will help a reader spot personalities that are running around out there in the world without all their wires connected.

I wish people would try to be good to each other. Hopefully my work will help that. Yes, there is money. Most of us get that; but there is so much more, and it's wonderful when a person gets that too.

A dear friend told me I needed to better explain why I used the butterfly the way I did. I'll do a second edition which covers that in more detail, but essentially it's an analogy ploy. The woman who becomes a nympho progresses to her behavior and outlook on the world much like a caterpillar progresses to a butterfly; and David's character as well as the UGGA company also make a progression like a caterpillar to a butterfly, into evil.

The butterfly tattoo that Marty wears in a very private place is symbolic of her commitment to her chosen way. She chooses her way out of reaction to how she was treated as a child. So, should she be loathed or pitied? You decide. David, too, has a reaction to how he was treated from infanthood. Likewise, will you pity him or loath him? Again, you need to decide. It is how you decide to view these two that, I hope, will help you gain a better understanding of yourself.

The world could use more nice people like Bob and Barbara. But, you may ask yourself, how can they possibly stay nice let alone ever find each other when working in a place like UGGA? Who started a firm with a culture like UGGA's anyway? Oh, well that would be Marvin and Susan. Maybe you'll see them as the little eggs that sort of hatched into something that grew much worse. Maybe you'll feel like taking a shower after you see the way they treat their spouses; but, again, that's for you to decide. I doubt if either of them would have progressed to the stage of evil's development that they did by themselves. They had to meet each other, like two butterflies must mate, to make it all happen.

Best to all. Goodbye, best wishes and stay well,
Rosemary
