Alice Arlen was best known as an American screenwriter. She wrote the screenplay based on the novel The Weight of Water. Arlen also co-wrote the screenplay for the Oscar nominated Silkwood with Nora Ephron. It was based on the book The Killing of Karen Silkwood.

Alice Arlen was married to author Michael J. Arlen.
