My life through the lens...beach sunset

I was alittle bit disappointed in the sunset. Not enough clouds to really made the colors pop, but it was still nice.

Not far from the hotel is this gorgeous brick staircase that goes down to the beach.

Too bad we can't have that view everyday...sigh....

My life through the lens...Santa Monica

This morning after breakfast, Sharon and I headed out for a walk along the beach...

To get down to the beach we had to walk down the Santa Monica Pier.

The beach was pretty deserted except for a few joggers and photo bugs like me.

It's a beautiful morning here...:) If only it was warm enough to get in the water.

As soon as Mary Wine gets here, we're off to lunch in the Hollywood Hills. More pics come soon of our trip to Cali...:)

Wow, what a surprise it was to read Callie's Sexy Surprise. I have read ménage stories before, the good, the bad and the indifferent and this one is definitely the good! Trista Ann Michaels does not disappoint in her take on how friends learn to love each other in an unconventual relationship. Most people are turned off on ménage relationships, but give Ms. Michaels a chance. I have read some of her other ménage books and they were wonderful. Her characters are supportive of one another and nothing is contrived in the way they get together.
Callie, Brian and Derek have been friends and roommates since college and without Callie knowing, Brian and Derek have been in love with her since college. When she starts have fantasies about them, she decides to book a weekend away at sex club resort to get her ménage fantasy for real. What she doesn't know is that Brian and Derek heard her make the reservations and are going to meet her there and surprise her.
Callie is in for the biggest surprise of her life. The sex scenes are highly erotic and loving at the same time. You don't feel has if they are just having sex but that they are making love with each other. You can feel the thoughts and feelings that each character has for one another.
If you have tried ménage stories before and didn't care for them, give Callie's Sex Surprise a chance... Ms. Michaels just might change your mind.

Five Angels for Fantasy Bar...:)

Fantasy Bar

Kira was a woman who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She was hit in the head, tied up and beaten. She escaped with her life, and ran to her friend Mirage, and the haven of the Fantasy Bar. While there she was able to heal and try to come to grips with the fact that she had escaped by killing a very powerful man with very nasty secrets. She helps out at the bar while trying to figure out how to deal with the rest of her life and in walks trouble…

Jerrod could not believe the mess made by his best friend, Micas. The blood all over the room was not all his and this led Jerrod to believe that things had gone horribly wrong. He could not understand how he had overlooked the cruel side of his friend that would cause him to inflict so much pain on a woman. While investigating, Jerrod finds himself in the aptly named Fantasy Bar with eyes for no one but the striking bartender.

I really loved this book. The storyline was heart-wrenching and emotionally hard to read. The story of Kira’s attack was well-written and not overdone. Kira was a character that you could get close to in this short book. I was impressed with the way that Ms. Michaels grabbed me and drew me in. Jerrod was a very sexual man and honorable; anyone’s dream man! This was a great escape on a day I really need an escape. Thank you for that.

I love futuristic romances. And this is a delicious tale that is sure to satisfy anyone’s palate. Trista Ann Michaels slowly and expertly brings the reader into a new world full of: intrigue, betrayal and deception. In addition, to the fantastic world building she takes the time for the reader to really understand and love her characters.

Imagine Earth is being invaded by aliens. Mikayla is on the run with her friend to find her mother. On the way she is abducted by human-like aliens who sweep her off to a spaceship. There Mikayla is forced to work as a bar maid in skin tight clothes as ‘eye candy’ for the men on the spaceship. Resentful and afraid Mikayla is nonetheless courageous as she tries to find independence and a way to escape. Unfortunately, she catches the attention of the 3rd in command to the invasion, Captain Sidious.. Sidious is the most attractive man Mikayla has ever seen and she can’t help her body’s response to him. She is torn by her feelings, as their tumultuous relationship progresses. How can she be attracted to a man whose hands are filled with the blood of her people? Mikayla knows she must fight any feeling she has for him.. He is the enemy…

Sidious is exhausted. He is actually a spy for the rebels. But the acts he has committed to ‘prove’ his loyalty to the Prime Minister have haunted and aged him. Sidious abhors his actions but tries to remember that eventually his sacrifices will be responsible for taking down the Prime Minister and his reign of domination. However, the invasion of peaceful planet, Earth, and the lovely woman from that planet tests his resolve. He knows he must continue his façade even if the woman he loves despises him. The Prime Minister must be stopped and Sidious’s cover is key to the rebellion. Sidious knows his feelings for Mikayla must come second. Yet Sidious can’t stay away from Mikayla even as he knows it puts her life in danger.

This was a fabulous novel from start to end. I was immediately drawn to the characters and the storyline. It reminded me of a great space opera with very sensual love scenes. The author does not insult the reader with trite or simplistic storylines. Even though the story is a futuristic it felt very realistic. I can only hope this author will continue the series?! Sidious’s brothers Stefan and Taron are equally fascinating.

My favorite part of this story were the strong characters. I fell in love with the hero Sidious and wished he were real. Sidious is an extremely noble and self-sacrificing character that is ALL man ladies! He was one of the best heroes I’ve read in a long time. Mikayla is a fun and feisty heroine. I was fascinated by her struggle to reconcile her attraction to Sidious and her beliefs. This was an exciting story that transported me into a new world that I found exhilarating and mesmerizing. Trista Ann Michaels has made a new fan!
