Pals, we're going to audio.
This one's going to be short and sweet because I am busting my ass on If the Shoe Fits to get it in before deadline. Jana Fleischer is fun, but also hard work...
To the news!
Ask, Tell and Ask Me Again are going to be made into audio books! I won't lie, I squeaked hardcore when I found out.
I don't have any timelines or dates as yet, but I believe Abby Craden will be narrating.
Gurgle.
Super excited to the power of a gajillion!

Celebrating Christmas with...edits!
Ahoy all, on this the eve of Christmas! Well, it's only Christmas Eve if you're in the cool kids timezone that is.
I'm going to give it to you straight (hahaha) - I don't really like Christmas. I'm a micro-Grinch. I'm really weird about receiving gifts at any time of the year (imagine a lot of me panic-thinking 'Oh shit, I love this thing but how do I say a sincere thank you, did that sound sincere enough?'), me and Wife have to split our day between families which always sucks, and it's usually hot and all around meh. I do, however, like the gingerbread Wife makes at this time every year, which tends to placate the Christmas Grump, as she calls me.
So, I've been ignoring the whole thing by going head down bum up on WIPs.
I've been working on If the Shoe Fits ready for late 2019, but honestly I'm getting a bit meh about it which means I need a break. I've discovered it's quite hard to turn a straight gal gay (not so much, according to my wife who says I did just that to her *flex*).
So I have 92k of manuscript which is a beginning, some conflict, an ending and three fully written sex scenes. But I still haven't quite convinced myself of Jana's sudden turnabout to liking women, which is kind of an important thing...
Thankfully, I received my first round of edits for Alone which means I have something easy to work with over my Christmas break. Pals, I'm really proud of this one. It's a little bit of different but interesting, and every time I read it, I give myself pats on the back. Some of the words are quite lovely, if I say so myself.
Once I'm done with If the Shoe Fits I'll have to decide which project I'm going to focus on for 2020. I'm really bad at decisions...
I hope you, your friends and loved ones have a safe and enjoyable holiday season, however you choose to spend this time of the year.
Catch you all in 2019!

A giving away of a book. Or four technically.
I'm only a third of a way into my morning coffee and far too uncaffeinated to be clever.
I'm giving away four signed copies of Ask Me Again and I'll send them worldwide.
Want to enter? Dawdle on over to Facebook and have a read of this...

It's the final countdown (doo doo doo doooooo, doot doot doot doot doooo!).
I hope you're all singing that now...
Final countdown to the release of Ask Me Again in just under a week now (timezones are tricky, yo).
In the meantime, I sent the manuscript for Alone to the publisher so it's nice to have that out of my hair for another few months until it's time to start le edits.
I'm passing time working hard on If the Shoe Fits AKA "Jana's Story" which is super fun. If you've read Ask, Tell and soon to read the sequel, you'll probably know she's like a sugar-filled kid with a wacky sense of humour and an uncontrollable motormouth. I'm having so much fun writing her realisation of being attracted to a (a as in one only very specific, she'd be quick to tell you) woman and the subsequent intimacies. Plenty of hilarity and plenty of fun sexytimes.
Also passing time with mind-wanders and little bits of work on other projects - "Historical", "Apocalypse", "Drama" which all have actual titles, but...you know. Saying them is weird.
Confession which I may have already confessed. Though I decide on my titles, and they fit the books reasonably well thematically, in most cases I don't like them. Well maybe not don't like them, but saying them aloud always feels REALLY awkward, and I'm not sure why. So if we meet and I mumble Ask, Tell or go on about AT and AMA and ITSF and other acronyms etc etc, you'll know why.

Déjà vu.
Here we are again, this close to another book release. I’ve just sent the final draft of Ask Me Again back to Bella so they can do all the hard work to make it look like a book. This sequel to Ask, Tell will be out mid-November and I’m more nervous about this one than any of my other releases. As you’ll know if you’ve read the blurb -https://www.bellabooks.com/product/97... it deals with some pretty serious topics. But, Sabine is still Sabine and in amongst all the hard stuff, she’s her usual irreverent and oddball self.
I also just realised that almost a year ago I did a blog post about sending a book (Turbulence) off for proofing, and skipping off to New Zealand to ski and get married. I probably could have copied that one and tweaked it a bit because yet again at this time of the year, I’m…skipping off to New Zealand to ski, and celebrate our first wedding anniversary (and watch some FIS alpine ski events – squee). I’ll also be wearing Aspen from Gold’s Rey Star Wars ski helmet, which is also my ski helmet :)
In the meantime, to tide you over until Ask Me Again comes out…
I know I’ve talked about “the weird one” Alone a bit, so I have a little breadcrumb for you.

All the world loves a giveaway!
Because Goodreads has limited their giveaways to the USA only, I'm running one over on my Facebook author page.
Nothing sinister, just 'like' (or love, or angry face or astounded face or whatever) the post and you're in the running to win a hard copy of my latest novel 'Gold'.
Open to all occupants of this planet.

Fly, my pretty!
I really need a better way to think of blog titles, and am considering just numbering them One through to...Eleventy Billion. I'm sure you'll all be pleased to know that I came back from my "hiding away from impending book release hike" both snake bite and blister free, and with a 20 year BFF-ship intact. Amazing, considering how much it bloody rained.
Now that factoid is out of the way, drumroll please. Or, epic little piano solo. Or guitar riff. Whatever is your thing. Just, think of some epic introduction for... dun dun dun - Gold is now out in the world for all and sundry.
That was actually kind of anticlimactic. Sorry.
You can grab both eBook and paperback from Bella:
https://www.bellabooks.com/product/97...
Or the paperback from your Amazon or other online bookstore of choice. The eBook should be out on Amazon in another month or so if you like to purchase your eBooks from there.
In other news, in under three weeks, me and Wife will be heading to the US (Vegas specifically) for the GCLS Convention. If you're attending and happen to see me, feel free to nab me for a chat. Seriously - I adore both meaningful and meaningless chatter. FYI, my name isn't actually E. J. like it'll say on the name tag - it's Emily, but if you call me that I'll think I'm in trouble, so Em is just fine. Or -"Hey you, Tim Tam and Vegemite Sample Holder, can I have one of those?" is also acceptable. I'll be scrawling my name on books if you want to stop by that session too.
In other other news, my debut novel Ask, Tell is a Goldie finalist in the Mid-Length Contemporary Romance. Gurgle.
Until next blog (Tentatively titled Number Sixteen) - happy reading of whatever you happen to pick up, but if it's Gold, I do hope you love it as much as I loved writing it.

Hiding is adulting, right?
It's almost a month until Gold is released, which means I'm entering 'mild panic' stage. I've decided to cope with pre-release in a very adult way - in just over a week, I'm going for a five day, 100km hike with my BFF so I can hide away. She'll blather about her kids, I'll blather about my books, we'll dissect Buffy episodes for hours on end. Perfect.
Before I go, I'm doing final pass of Ask Me Again before I hand it over to the publisher ready for its scheduled release in November 2018. This novel has been really hard for me to write, for a variety of reasons that would make a very very long blog post if I were to list them all. Let's just say it hit some difficult points for me, and it's not easy when characters you love are struggling. Amazon has a synopsis up, if you're curious about what's next for Sabine and Rebecca.
https://www.amazon.com/Ask-Me-Again-J...
And! I'm stoked to say that Alone (AKA "That weird one") will probably be out around April 2019.
Catch everyone on the flipside, and hopefully I'm blisterless and free of snakebite injuries ;)

What do I do now?
I'm happy to say that I just sent in my final draft of Gold ready to be typeset. Time to cheer, and then collapse because ohmygoodness I am sick of staring at a monitor.
I'm also thisclose to finishing my first draft of the Ask, Tell sequel, Ask Me Again and hopefully it'll be done over the four day Easter weekend this weekend coming. Then it's off to friends and Wife to read the first draft, because my beta readers are kind of more like alpha readers. I like them to read the early drafts so I can get a handle on plot/pacing/character-love etc. I've always said I'm a better editor than writer...
Then...I'm not sure what I'll do while people are picking Ask Me Again apart. I have a whole bunch of projects to choose from. There's that weird one that's like a psychological not-really-a-thriller but has some romance (because I love romance) - it's first draft finished and needs fleshing out. I also have a project where the MC is Sabine's sister, Jana from Ask, Tell. Last year she told me she likes women. Or one woman, rather. Totally out of the blue, but who am I to argue?
Or I could grab another project from the pile. Or work on a few at once. Or just start a totally new one. Thoughts?
Speaking of working on a few projects at a time, last month I stopped by for a chat with Clare Lydon. So if you've ever wondered about my "process" (think of a bunch of things and work on them frenetically and simultaneously) or what I sound like (squeaky, talkative Australian) then here's a podcast for you!

My sister said I didn't sound like a complete idiot, so that's something I guess...

Editors...amirite?
Only a quick one today because I've just started working on first round edits for Gold. Working on this book is easing the tiniest fraction of my Winter Olympics withdrawal. Like the most microscopic fraction. I'm counting the days til the Winter Paralympics and a World Cup event that'll be on TV next week.
Pals, I need to mention my editor. I adore my editor. She makes me love editing my work more than actually creating the novel in the first place. She understands that I have no idea what verbs and nouns and stuff are and cannot pick them in sentences, or figure out how they change in certain circumstances (no, really - I'm a complete dolt). She's fun, she knows her shit and I could blather all day about her, but I need to get back to editing.
I'm excited about this book. Out in June!
