THE HIDDEN GODDESS giveaway

So I got an excited call from my daughter yesterday, informing me that my big box of author's copies of THE HIDDEN GODDESS had arrived. And they are utterly gor-gee-ous! I really love the cover on this one—the colors, everything. I hope it starts a new fashion on book covers for napes. Napes are [...]

PDX GearCon Reception Wrapup

Last night's PDX GearCon reception was a whole bustle-load of fun. It was very well attended by a wide variety of talented writers, costumers, and steampunk enthusiasts. I was particularly touched that my writer compatriots David Levine, Camille Alexa and Garth Upshaw all turned out in full steampunk regalia (Karen Berry, aren't you kicking yourself [...]

Weekend update: plying the gimp

OK, so not many pictures this week, sorry. But my camera utterly failed at getting closeup shots of the layered trims I've been working on, so … oh well. Anyway, that's the big news for this weekend … I've been sewing on trim. Yards and yards of trim. (I bought a whole bolt of [...]

Top. Men.

So I had lunch yesterday with Kimmi from Scissorfiend and she is so totally awesome I bet you wish you were there sharing our spinach salad and tricolor slice. It is very comforting to surrender oneself into the hands of experts, especially when it comes to milinery. I had this quote from Family Guy [...]

Mark your calendars: PDX Steampunk Reception 4/12

If you're a Portlandite, mark your calendars for the evening of April 12 (for heaven's sake, that's next Tuesday already!) From 7-9 p.m., I'll be the guest of honor (aw shucks) at a reception at Magnolia's Corner, 4075 NE Sandy Blvd, hosted by Stephen Couchman (of Rose City Steampunk Film Festival fame). It's a fundraiser/awareness builder [...]
