BLURB

Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers features a group of fun, flirty, and emotional friends who gather each summer at their Cape Cod cottages. They’re sassy, flawed, and so easy to relate to, you’ll be begging to enter their circle of friends!

Hearts at Seaside by Addison Cole is the sweet edition of New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster’s steamy romance novel Seaside Hearts. The stories and characters remain the same and convey all of the passion you expect between two people in love, without any explicit scenes or harsh language.

In HEARTS at SEASIDE…

Jenna Ward is vivacious, spontaneous, and confident—except when she’s around the man who stole her heart years earlier, strikingly handsome, quiet, and reliable Pete Lacroux. After years of trying to get his attention and overwhelmed from dealing with her mother’s new cougar lifestyle, Jenna’s giving up on Peter—and is ready to explore other men.

As the eldest of five siblings, with an alcoholic father to care for, boat craftsman Pete Lacroux always does the right thing and has no time for a real relationship. He’s looking forward to seeing his friend Jenna, a welcome distraction who’s so sexy and painfully shy that she equally entertains and confuses him.

When Jenna picks up a hard-bodied construction worker, jealousy ignites Pete’s true feelings, and he’s unable to ignore the desires for Jenna he never realized he had. But Pete’s not the quiet guy he appears to be, and his life is anything but conducive to a relationship. Can Jenna handle the real Pete Lacroux—the most alpha male she’s ever seen—or will she crack under pressure? And can Pete reclaim the life he once had without tearing apart his family?

EXCERPT

There should be an unwritten rule about drooling over construction workers, but Jenna Ward was sure glad there wasn’t. She sat on the porch of the Bookstore Restaurant, soaking up the deliciousness of the three bronzed males clad in nothing more than jeans and glistening muscles that flexed and bulged like an offering to the gods as they forced thick, sticky tar into submission. Their jeans hung low on strong hips, gripping their powerful thighs like second skins and ending in scuffed and tarred work boots. What red-blooded woman didn’t get worked up over a gorgeous shirtless man in work boots?

Heaven help her, because she needed this distraction to take away her desire for Peter Lacroux, which went hand in hand with summers on the Cape and consumed her in the nine months they were apart. She zeroed in on one particularly handsome blond construction worker. His hair was nearly white, his jaw square and manly. She wanted to march right out to the middle of the road that split the earth between the restaurant and the beach and be manhandled into submission. Right there on the tar. Wrestled and groped until all thoughts of Pete evaporated.

“Wipe the drool from your chin, chica.” Amy Maples handed Jenna a margarita and, pointedly, a fresh napkin, as she settled into the chair across from her. “Goodness, woman. What’s up with you this summer? I swear you’re in heat. I can practically smell your pheromones from over here.”

Jenna gulped her drink and righted her red bikini top, which was trying its hardest to relieve itself of her enormous breasts. Even her bikini top was ready for a man. A real man. A man who craved her as much as she craved him.

Jenna reluctantly turned away from Testosterone Road and faced her best friends. The women she had spent her summers with here in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, for as long as she could remember and the women she hoped would help her through her most important summer ever.

Review of Hearts at Seaside

Hearts at Seaside is a story about a vivacious girl whose heart got stolen by a boy’s many years ago.

“Goodness, woman.  What’s up with you this summer? I swear you’re in heat. I can practically smell your pheromones from over here.”

The main character in this book, Jenna Ward, is a teacher who spends her summer vacations at Cape Code. She has a great group of friends even if her family life is not the best at the moment (her parents are divorced and her mother is having a meltdown because her father is remarrying). Jenna has the longest crush on a boy named Pete. He lives in Seaside but she’s never acted on her feelings for him. This summer being so complicated, her she decides to stop waiting for Pete and see his life and move on

Thinking about Pete made her stomach quiver. Was that out of longing for what she’d never have, or was it something more?

Pete Lacroux is a really nice men. He’s a workaholic, a very hard worker, and loves his family. He has a love interest in Jenna for a while, but he’s never wanted to act on his feelings for her because he doesn’t want to ruin their friendship. Besides, there is something that stops him to have a relationship; his mother passed away some years ago and his father is an alcoholic. Having a girl in his bed every night is not an option for him since his father calls him almost every night. Suddenly things change, when Jenna decides to look for love somewhere else and Peter sees her with another man, he decides enough was enough and go get the girl.

“One day it’ll be my name coming off your lips as you fall apart, and I promise you, after that, when you forget how to talk, it’ll be worth every erotic, sensual second.”

One of the things I enjoyed the most about the book was Jenna’s group of friends. Some of them already settled down in Seaside with their loved ones, leaving Jenna and Amy as the only single pair. Both girls keep waiting for their love interest to wake up and start a relationship with them. In this book, all the girls are really supportive towards Jenna and Peter, trying to find new ways to get them together. They’re really silly and funny, it’s the kind of girls you want as your group of friends

“You’ve never been afraid of a man in your life, so whatever’s running around in that cute little organized head of yours probably had nothing to do with being afraid of him.  Maybe you act afraid of Pete because of what letting Pete see the real you means in your head.  What it means to you.”

In conclusion Hearts at Seaside is a very fun and sweet summer story to read. It is interesting and there’s a lot of details to learn about each character. You get to know them, how their life works, all a while they do the quirks and things that make them unique and believable. It is certainly the kind of book that you can take to the beach and enjoy your day.

“It’s not this place that’s magical, Pete.  It’s you.  It’s always been you.”

Review

Trust by Kylie Scott is a Mature YA romance that caught me completely by surprise. I adored the book! Trust tells the story of a group of young adults that go through a very difficult experience, when they are held hostage during a robbery.

John pressed a bruised and bloodstained palm up to the door window. Maybe it was his way of waving a good-bye or signaling glad-you’re-okay. But with the gray-metal handcuffs looped around his wrist, the gesture didn’t change, haunted eyes looking out from a pale, shell-shocked face. Nothing about this was okay.

Edie, the main character, suddenly finds herself questioning life, friends, relationships…. She decides to put herself out there and go through all those experiences that she wouldn’t allow herself to live before, people around her start questioning her sanity and consider her going wild. But most of all, I met a girl that has a complex family situation, besides the insecurities that her weight and age represent in her life, when suddenly the robbery makes her realize that all of it is inconsequential and that there’s matters of more importance.

Hang was wearing a cool vintage-looking floral dress, but I gone for dark colors. Less ninja, more panda with my sun-starved skin and tummy rolls.

During the event that changed her life, she meets her love interest, John. A boy that has a questioning background, who decides to change his life after the robbery. Unlike Edie, John has a colorful history that doesn’t help his personal situation and makes him feel unworthy on anything better. Together they’re able to confront their fears and find trust in themselves and the people around them.

“It’s not your fault,” repeated John. “I’d it’s anyone’s, it’s mine. I pushed him into charging at Chris–it was my idea.”

The raw pain in his words hurt my heart. I breathed out heavily. “No, you’re right; Chris would have turned on you too next.”

One of the things that I love the most about the book, is how real the characters feel. From Edie, to John to their group of friends. I can see in them a solid group of high school students that are doing their best to survive their teenage years and that would make everything necessary to help their each other.

“Between you and me, I think is the Fabio hair.”

“Fabio?” I asked.

“You don’t know Fabio? Edie, friend, Fabio’s an important and glorious part of American romance fiction history. My mom told me so.”

There’s definitely a bond that gets Edie and John together, to some people it could border a co-dependent relationship, to me, they’re real teenagers trying their best to have a relationship that eventually turns into something else.

“Not saying I wasn’t pissed at you, but we’re not breaking up, Edie.” His slid his hands into the back pockets of my jeans. “That’s not how this works.”

“You know how this works?”

“Yeah. We keep trying,” he said simply. “If we really want it, then we don’t give up. That easy.”

This is a story that I would recommend to all teenagers I know in a heartbeat (basically to anyone who likes reading YA). It kept me reading and reading. I laughed, I worried, and most of all I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend it!

His to Have

His To Have
by Devon Birchley

GENRE

New Adult Romance

BLURB

His to Have is a very steamy new adult romance with a perfect HEA.

“Fifty Shades of Grey for the Girls generation.”

Reagan

There’s a whole bunch of things I need right now—to feel at home in this big, lonely city. To stop working my ass off. To find myself a nice, normal guy. One thing I sure as hell don’t need is Adler Montgomery crashing into my world and telling me what I need.

Cock-sure, tattooed, moneyed, too sexy for his own good. Not my type, at all. And yet…

When his hand tightens in my hair, suddenly, all I need is him.

He opens my eyes to a whole new world, possesses me in every possible way, sets me on fire with his sweet, filthy words. And then he pushes me away. I know I should run, keep my heart safe, but that turns out to be the hardest thing of all.

Adler

She thought I was giving her a line. And that’s probably for the best, because the truth is dangerous. No-one’s eyes have ever looked so vulnerable, made me want to break all my rules. They make me chase her when I know I shouldn’t. They make me cruel; they make me soft. But more than that, they make me feel. And I don’t like that.

I tell myself she’s only a sub, that I’m helping her to discover her dark side. But the more I listen to her smart, feisty voice and the more I see she doesn’t take any crap from anyone, the deeper I fall. I’ve never met anyone like Reagan Lockhart before, but letting her in could mean ruin for both of us.

EXCERPT

It’s bone-chillingly cold, but for once I’m grateful for it. It takes the heat out of my mood. No one in my entire life has made me feel as angry and irritated and turned on at the same time as this man.

“Who the hell does he think he is?” I mutter to myself like a crazy person. I can’t stand the type of people who make a judgment about you, based on nothing at all, then can’t wait to share it with you. It’s one of my pet hates. I reach the entrance to the subway and cling to the handrail, accustomed to the slippery mush at the top of the stairs.

“Reagan!” comes a deep, sexy voice from behind me. Adler’s striding toward me in an expensive-looking navy wool coat. He looks commanding, purposeful, and against my will, my body responds again. The world slows down as he comes up to me, puts his hands on my waist, and crushes his lips against mine. They’re so warm, his tongue so velvety and agile as it slides into my mouth. It’s a passionate, passionate kiss that leaves me dizzy.

“I shouldn’t have left without kissing you,” he says, keeping his face close to mine. And then he turns and carries right on, striding along the sidewalk. People are staring at me, girls in their twenties with naked envy plastered across their faces.

Genre:

Contemporary Romance

About The Bars Between Us:

I don’t have a damn thing in common with the beautiful rich girl who walks in to my bar. She’s southern class, fancy cars, and designer shoes.

I’ve got a drunk for a mother, a cheater for a father, and a reputation for trouble I’ve more than earned.

I look the other way, pretending I don’t notice how perfect she is. She wouldn’t give me the time of day anyway. Until she shatters that first impression and shows me she’s so much more––everything I never thought I deserved.

After a lifetime of being a disappointment, I want to prove to her that I’m better than my past.

We have one tragic thing in common, and the thread that binds us together will tear us apart as it unravels.

Are we strong enough to break through the Bars Between Us?

Excerpt
Bronn

“So, what brings you to Beaufort?” I ask, her small hand still engulfed in my own. It’s soft and dainty, a contrast to the sass she’s been throwing my way today. The way her eyes dance each time she shoots a zinger at me causes my interest to grow. I don’t know what the hell possessed me to reach for her arm, but I couldn’t stop myself from doing so. The moment my rough fingertips made contact with her smooth skin, my skin began to buzz and hasn’t stopped.

“Work.”

“What kind of work do you do?”

She sips her water and then leans forward, her face lighting up. “I’m a nurse. I graduated in the fall and took a job with a travel agency.”

The way she immediately checked me for injuries earlier makes sense. “Damn, I should have faked an injury earlier.”

Her eyes widen before she purses her lips. “That’s not funny!”

“Maybe pretended to need mouth to mouth?” I lift a brow.

One corner of her mouth tips up as she rolls her eyes. “Now you’re just being crass!”

I nod. “Probably.”

“Definitely.”

“Definitely.” I grin. “So, travel nursing, what’s that exactly?”

“Basically, I go wherever I’m needed. I’m contracted at Beaufort Memorial until November.  Then, after that, I’ll go where they send me next.”

“So, you’re only here temporarily?” I do the math in my head. “Six months?” I don’t know why that thought causes disappointment to wash over me.

“Yep. Although my contract with the travel agency is only for a year.  So, I figure, if I find a place I like, then maybe I’ll stay.”

Her hand is still in mine, but I grab the straw that’s lying on the table with my free hand and begin twirling it through my fingers. Her accent is light, and I’m caught up in the soft, musical sound of her voice. The more this conversation flows, the more caught up in everything about her I become.

“Well, what do you think of our lovely slice of the south here?” I ask.

Beaufort is an amazing town. The charm, the atmosphere, and the weather all make for a perfect place to live. Travel magazines are constantly claiming it as the best place to live, retire, or visit.

But the town hasn’t always been kind to me. And there may be times that I love it, but more often than not, I find myself just wanting desperately to escape it.

She pulls her hand from mine and tucks a strand of hair that’s fallen from her messy bun behind her ear. “Well, I’ve been here less than forty-eight hours, so I can’t really say.” Her cheeks pink. “And so far, I’ve managed to be rude to a local and almost run him over.”

I do my best to look stern and tell her, “Yeah, not the best way to start out in a new town.”

She nods. “But, I do prefer small towns over bustling cities. And I love the water.” Her eyes flutter shut, her face softening. “There’s just something about the ocean that calls to me.”

I’m entranced by the way her perfect lips curve, causing her nose to crinkle slightly, her long lashes to flutter. She looks peaceful and serene, and my chest tightens with the desire to feel that, too.  “Maybe I was a mermaid in a past life.” She opens her sparkling eyes and pins me with a look that causes the air in my lungs to leave in a whoosh.

The dreamy look in her eyes and the softness of her face as she talks about the sea makes me want to get swept away by her. She’s beautiful, a fact that I’d noticed the moment I laid eyes on her. But, the fact that she can simultaneously make my heart pound and give me shit makes her the most attractive woman I’ve ever encountered. And the realization that I want to spend the rest of the day with her, getting to know her, causes my heart to pound, my stomach to ache.

I clear my throat, hoping that the action will also clear my mind. “The ocean calls to me, too.  One of the reasons I never moved away from this place. But if you were a mermaid, then I was probably a pirate. And not one of those cool ones like Johnny Depp. I was probably more like that guy whose face was an octopus.  What was his name?”

EXCEPT

[image error]Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. I’d heard that saying more than once now. And it seemed that I was about to hear it once again.

“Kassie! Kassie, wake up! I’m getting married,” a high-pitched voice squealed at me at 3:00 a.m.

Who the hell is this? I had picked up the phone without even looking at the caller ID. Oh, Laura. Great. I found out that even if I was almost asleep, my brain preferred sarcasm.

Laura was one of my best friends. I was one of those lucky people who managed to keep my childhood friends throughout my life. It had always been the five of us from elementary to high school: Marisol, Natalie, Denise, Laura, and me. The perfect number for the perfect friends.

“Kassandra, are you listening? I’m engaged!” Laura screamed from the other side of the phone.

“Yeah, wow,” I said. “Congratulations.”

“I can’t believe you, Kassie. You should be more excited. You’ll get to be my bridesmaid!” The volume of her voice kept rising. “I’m the last of your friends to get married, and I chose to call you first. Show some real happiness!”

“I’m happy for you, Laura.” I really didn’t know at the moment how I felt. I was trying to look around to see exactly where I was. “Believe me. It’s just…it’s three o’clock, and I was sleeping.”

After looking at my surroundings, I remembered I was in my own house. Good, I’m home. I had a minor headache, probably from all the drinking the night before, and my body ached a bit. I looked beside me and found the reason for my hurt.

Next to me I found the silhouette of a no doubtbeautiful man, probably blond—I had a thing for blonds—and I was pretty sure he was built. I wouldn’t settle for anything less. The memories of the few hours before my abrupt awakening came back at me:

A bar. A blond. My home. Some sex…in that order.

Wait, we had sex at the bar before coming home. Yeah, I was sure now.

“I know it’s late, but I had to give you the good news.” Laura sounded as cheerful as I ever heard her. She really was excited.

“And news it is.” She was the last of my best friends who was single; not so long ago we roamed all the bars in town together, looking for men to hook up with, and suddenly she was engaged. “Laura, I haven’t seen you for a month, and now you are telling me you’re getting married. I didn’t even know you were dating anyone.”

“I wasn’t. Until recently,” she confessed. “Remember the trip I was supposed to take with my family? I met him there, and we’ve been inseparable since.”

“For real?” I honestly couldn’t believe it. “You met him a few weeks ago and now you decided to get married?” I really needed to wake up and have a little chat with my friend.

I pulled the luxurious sheets off my bed so I could go somewhere else to continue my phone call. Unintentionally, I woke up the sleeping beauty beside me.

He probably looked as confused as I’d been some moments ago. “Hey, pumpkin. Where are you going? Come back to bed,” he said in a sleepy voice. I assumed he’d used pumpkin because he couldn’t remember my name. Just as I didn’t remember his.

I hated pumpkins. “Hey, babe. Sorry, emergency call,” I said as I placed my cell phone over my chest to mutter a bit of the conversation with my beautiful stranger. “Do you mind giving me some privacy?” I used the cutest voice I could pull out.

“Sure, pumpkin. Go ahead and take your call,” my nameless lover said as he settled himself back into my pillows. “I’ll just go back to sleep.”

“You know what, I’m sorry, but I might have to step out to help a friend.” There was no simple way to kick someone out of your bed. I’ve learned with time that honesty was the best and more effective policy. “Do you mind going back home for the rest of the night? I’d really appreciate it.”

“You mean I can’t stay the night?”

“You’re so sweet.” I really meant, ‘No, hon. Suck it up,’ but I learned through experience that that particular phrase wasn’t really polite. “It was fun.”

He stood and walked to the corner chair to pick up his clothes. I was impressed, both by the fact that he even remembered where he left his clothes and because he had a glorious ass. Even in the dark, his luscious body seemed to glow, appealing to me all over again. Maybe I should reconsider.

“Kassie! Kassie! Kassandra, are you still there?” If I’d though Laura had screamed before, this was worse.

I placed the phone back on my ear and said, “Oh, yeah, Laura. I’m sorry. I’ve got company. I’ll be with you in a minute.”

“You’re terrible, Kassandra. Can’t you spend a night on your own?” She was a bit dramatic. I never had a different man in my bed every night, let alone every weekend. She wasn’t any better. Laura had good taste in men, too. That made me wonder what kind of man had her so hurried to ‘settle down’.

Certainly, I wasn’t settling with the one standing in my room. He was good-looking—great-looking, to be honest. But he wasn’t enough. His body, on the other hand, was good enough to eat. It was a shame to see it all hiding under those designer clothes.

I ushered him to my front door and gave him a goodnight kiss. He was a good kisser. Really good.

I practically melted by the door, and if it wasn’t for the phone in my hand, I might have just fallen to the floor and let him have his wicked way with me all over again.

“See, pumpkin, we can still have some more fun together,” he tempestuously said. His lips delicately traced my neck as one of his hands followed the same trail until he reached the hem of my camisole. It was tempting—so very tempting. My latest conquest gave me a look that only meant business. He had the most beautiful baby-blue eyes I’ve ever seen, with an impish glimmer hard to resist. It matched his sexy grin.

“We will, babe, if you remember my name.”

His smile was dazzling, and I knew exactly what it meant: no fucking idea.

“Can I at least get your digits?” he tried once more. It was really cute when men did that. And flattering, too. It meant he’d enjoyed himself and wanted more.

“Sorry,” I said as I moved my head from side to side. “Have a nice life.”

“Bitch.”

Well, what could I say? He might have been right.

After I closed my front door, I went back to my phone call. “Okay, Laura. I’m all ears. Tell me everything I need to know about this engagement.”

ABOUT ME

[image error]I love reading, writing, and painting. I believe that I’m on a quest to find my true calling.  All the words, forms, and colors that will help me materialize the worlds and people that live in my imagination. My favorite reading genes are Paranormal, New Adult, and Contemporary Romance. I never  in a million years thought I would be writing romance but here I am.  Now I believe that deep down I’m an incurable romantic, because lately, that’s what I finds myself musing about (and writing about ;* ). When you think about it love is found everywhere, regardless of whether it comes from a nice person or an ass—mundane or even vampire.

When I’m not busy with work in the real life, in front of a computer placing many thoughts in order, I make whatever I can to be creative or relax with a good TV series and a snack. Some of my favorite characters are Jon Snow, Daenerys, Unbreakable Kimmy,  Diana Prince, Barney Stinson,  Clary Fray, Saint,  Rule Archer, Rush, Gretchen McKay, and  princess Aurora.

Kiss My Boots

image001In this second of the sultry, Western-set Coming Home series from New York Times bestselling author Harper Sloan, Quinn Davis might finally have a shot at her own happily-ever-after—but will she let love in, or will she tell it to go ahead and kiss her boots?

Quinn Davis prefers to live her life quietly. She’s the stereotypical tomboy with two overprotective big brothers who have always been there to protect her, especially from devilishly handsome cowboys with silver tongues. That is, until Tate Montgomery comes riding into town. Their first meeting, however, is far from something out of a fairy tale and only further convinces Quinn that men aren’t worth her time.

The only place Tate Montgomery ever truly felt at home growing up was during the long, sweltering summer months he spent at his Gram and Paw’s farm in Pine Oak, Texas. Now, Tate has returned to his childhood sanctuary seeking a fresh start—but if he’s being entirely honest, he’s not just back for the wranglers and Stetsons. During those summers, Quinn was a friend-turned-young-love who Tate lost when life threw him a curveball and he cut all ties to his past; but all it takes is one glance at the raven-haired beauty he did his best to forget for him to realize just how much he’s been missing….

Excerpt

“You were going to give it up to Duncan Dickerson?” he sneered. “Are you serious?”

I halted, staring at him. This was not good. “How do you know about that?”

“Anders overheard you and Hang talking.”

“Bastard.”

“Well?” he demanded, acting all authoritarian. Idiot.

“To be fair, I didn’t know his last name was Dickerson,” I said. “That’s unfortunate. Though, I wasn’t actually planning on marrying him, so . . .”

“Not funny.”

I shrugged.

“You barely know the guy.”

“Um, yeah. None of your concern. We’re not talking about this.” How mortifying! My face burned bright. People should just gather around and cook s’mores. “I appreciate that we’re friends. You mean a lot to me. But this is going to have to fall under definitely none of your damn business, so go away please.”

“We’re talking about it.” He advanced a step.

“No we are not.” And I retreated.

“You were going to let a complete stranger touch you.” Advance.

Retreat. “People do it all the time. You do it all the time.”

“But you don’t,” he said, taking the final step, backing me up against the side of his car and getting all in my face. “Edie, this is your first time we’re talking about. Isn’t it?”

“Yes, and it’s going to be messy and painful and probably horribly embarrassing and I just want it over and done with.” I tried to meet his eyes but failed, settling for a spot on his right shoulder. “You’re not a girl; you wouldn’t understand. Also, last time I checked, you’re not the gatekeeper of my hymen, John Cole. So back the fuck off.”

He said nothing.

Deep, calming breaths. “Look, someday I’ll meet someone I really like and we’ll have a deep and meaningful relationship and go at it like bunnies. But I don’t want to be the dumb virgin in that scenario.”

He slowly shook his head.

“Also, I do not want to die a virgin.”

“What? What the hell are you talking about?”

“Hey, you and I both know death can occur at any time.”

“This is crazy.”

“I’m seeing a therapist!” I told his shoulder. “I don’t know if you noticed, but I’m a little bit messed up these days. It’s hard for me to trust people. That’s not going to change anytime soon.”

He screwed up his face at me. “Wha—”

“I’m just trying to be practical.”

“Well, you’re being ridiculous. None of this makes sense.”

“It does to me.”

Again, he said nothing.

In fact, he said nothing for so long that I finally looked him in the eye. The anger had left him, replaced by an emotion I didn’t recognize. Worst of all, he still smelled like summer. A little sweat and the open night air, everything I loved. Liked. I meant liked.

“What?” I said, finally.

He let loose a breath. “I’ll do it.”
