Karen E. Taylor was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area. Despite being a voracious reader her entire life, she’d never intended to be a writer; instead, over the years, she received training in art, sculpture, dance, voice, speech, needlework, sewing and fashion design, as well as lessons in charm and horseback riding. She enjoyed them all. In college, as an English Literature and Communications Arts major, she also discovered her love of theater, but none of that long list of creative endeavors ever really stuck.
While working as an Episcopal Church secretary in January, 1988, Karen began writing her first novel (the one which eventually evolved into Blood Secrets), just to prove to herself that she could. (English Lit majors are like that.) The book was never intended to be the first of an ongoing series, but friends and neighbors who had read the original manuscript demanded a sequel. From that point in time, an author and a series was born.
From that humble beginning, the Vampire Legacy series grew into seven full novels; two novellas and an eighth novel (The Vampires’ Daughter) are in the planning stages. Karen was a two time finalist for the Bram Stoker Award, and has produced numerous short stories, a stand-alone ghost novel (Cellar,) and two cook books. In her spare time, she can be found streaming retro video games on Twitch under the screen name OldVampireLady. After bouncing around the country for the last 40 years, she’s ended up (for now) in Vancouver, WA where she appreciates the gloom of the great Pacific Northwest.

Poetry means different things to different people. For me, it is all about feelings. If it captures the emotions of the reader, a poem will resonate and fill the soul. It can mean everything to one person and not much at all to another. The mood of the reader, and no one else, determines the outcome.
For example, love poems are wonderful when you are in love, and their passion is amazing. If you are facing adversity, however, love poems likely will just annoy you.
In this second book, Poetry from my Heart: The Journey Continues, I have again divided the poems into categories which will fit your mood no matter what you are experiencing at the time you choose to explore them. There should be something for everyone, whether you are in love, out of love, hurt, lonely, angry, abandoned, or facing other challenges in your life.
Poetry has a healing power that nurtures the soul and quietens the mind and so I hope that whatever your situation is in life, you have found something here that helped you safely on your own journey.

The green hills of Ireland are calling to me
I hear their soft whisper wherever I roam
No matter whether on land or on sea
The green hills of Ireland keep calling me home
I lived in old Ireland as a young lad you see
And I left my heart there on some mossy hillside
Now I yearn to go back to set my heart free
And awaken a dream I can no longer hide
For I love your high mountains and windy seashore
Your hills and your streams rolling down to the sea
And I long to go home to my lost land of yore
And return to the Irish that’s deep within me
Now sheep in the pastures are calling to me
From the craggy rock walls that keep them inside
While the streams that run down from the mountains so free
Speak sparkling with hope and a joy they can’t hide
I long for the ocean on the Wild Atlantic Way
And the crazy coast road that winds in and out
And the sea breeze that whispers I hope you will stay
And the people all happily wandering about
I remember the old priory standing in ruins
Near Castletownroche with its bridge and its mill
I recall all the pubs with their loud Irish tunes
And my mind wanders back where my soul lingers still
I miss all the people so friendly and kind
With their musical language and soft Irish smiles
How they welcomed me home with a grace so refined
That I felt their great love from thousands of miles

About the Author:
Paul Guerin is an Irishman. He was born in September 1946 in Castletownroche, a small townland village in County Cork, Eire.
It was there in Castletownroche that his romantic imagination was sparked as he came to love and appreciate the magic of his surroundings. Those early experiences were the genesis of his poetry that emerged in later life.
As a young adult, Paul lived in London, England, where he became a chartered accountant.
At age 25, restless for adventure, Paul moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where he still resides today.
Paul is happily married and is a proud father and grandfather.
Paul writes poetry as the inspiration comes to him. As long as his mind, body and soul are willing companions and his spark of inspiration remains alive, he will continue to write.
This book is Paul’s second publication in his Willing Heart series. His first book was published in the Spring of 2022 and is called Poetry from My Heart: A Journey through Feelings. The book reached #1 on Amazon’s Kindle chart in British Poetry and #2 in Poetry Anthologies November 2023.

“Why don’t you move out? Go ahead and go! Do you think you’re the only woman I can get?”
“No, I’m well aware that the lure of fame—even second-rate fame like yours—is a powerful aphrodisiac for trailer trash women.”
“That’s it!” Bukowski planted his foot underneath the wooden coffee table and kicked it over, launching glasses of wine into the air. “Get out of my house! You DON’T live here anymore! I mean it. We’re through!” Bukowski and Linda stared at each other. Linda’s jaw flexed rhythmically. Then he moved in close. “I mean it! LEAVE!” he screamed, spewing spittle in her face. Tears streamed down her cheeks.
She stood up and looked at me. “Get me out of here,” she said.
“OK,” I replied.
About the Author
Michael Meloan traveled extensively to England, Germany, and South Korea supporting the Department of Defense as a software engineer. He met the real Top Guns at Ramstein, Germany. He also wrote short stories for Larry Flynt, Buzz, Wired Magazine, and many literary journals. With his brother, Steven, he penned a published novel called The Shroud. Also with his brother, he wrote journalism for The Huffington Post.
In the ‘80s and ‘90s, Meloan was friends with Charles Bukowski and his wife Linda. Bukowski enthusiastically encouraged his writing and invited him and his wife Cathy to many Hollywood events.
Meloan was also good friends with NPR monologue artist Joe Frank. Their regular brunches at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills were among the most fascinating encounters of his life. They discussed sexual failure, the nature of existence, godly realms, and the existential abyss.
