Dumb & Dumber To – Trailer

Dumb & Dumber To

Stars: Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, Kathleen Turner

IMDB Rating: 6.5

Facebook

Plot: 20 years since their first adventure, Lloyd and Harry go on a road trip to find Harry’s newly discovered daughter, who was given up for adoption.

Quick Review: 20 years is a long time to wait for the sequel (One cannot count the 2003 flop “When Harry Met Lloyd“). In this long awaited (for some) version, Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne set out to find Harry’s daughter, Penny (Rachel Melvin) – who was adopted out at birth by her mother, Fraida Felcher (Kathleen Turner).

The film starts out with Lloyd being locked up in a vegetative state in an asylum for two decades with Harry making regular visits until it is revealed that Lloyd had been playing a practical joke.

During the course of the film, Harry meets old flame, Fraida, and it is revealed that he has a daughter, whi was adopted out at birth. Of course, these two hero’s “man up” and take it upon themselves to go on a roadtrip to find Harry’s long lost daughter.

Some new jokes and gags in this one, as well as some of the original cast (Billy). Some will say that this one was not as funny as the first, but I have to say that this installment was a tad funnier and not as crass.

Some wonderful acting by Kathleen Turner and Rachel Melvin (who plays dimwitted Penny).

Verdict: Funny and Funnier To

My Rating: 6 out of 10

Hello Ladies: The Movie (2014) – Movie Review

Hello Ladies: The Movie (2014)

Stars: Stephen Merchant, Christine Woods, Nate Torrence

IMDB Rating: 7.2

Facebook

Plot: When Stuart learns that his British ex girlfriend is planning to visit Los Angeles with her husband, he sets out to impress them with his glamorous lifestyle, enlisting a Russian model he has just met to play the role of his beautiful girlfriend. What could go wrong?

HelloLadies_(2014)

Review: There is nothing spectacular about this film but the one thing it does have is a right royal mix of awkward situations and comedy :)

The plot is very simple. Stuart (Stephen Merchant) is a geeky, awkward British guy who – after the love of his life, Trudy (Henrietta Miere), broke up with him and married a douche by the name of Mike (Adam Campbell) – moves to L.A., hangs out with an equally awkward wingman named Wade (Nate Torrence), and rents out his bungalow to a former actress Jessica (Christine Woods).

From there, the film goes from bland to right out funny. Stuart learns that his former sweetheart, Trudy, is coming to L.A. to visit him (with douchebag Mike in tow), and in order to make an impression, Stuart hires Russian model Tatiana (Stephanie Cornielieussen), who then happens to break the date at last minute…..

I think you can see where it goes from here. Stuart is in a dilly of a pickle, so he asks Jessica to step in and help him out… Of course, playing the girlfriend does not go down easily, as you will see if you watch this film.

While I did find it similar to the TV series “You’re The Worst“, this film was delightful to watch, and goes to show that even geeky tall guys can land Russian models :)

Hello Ladies has it’s dull moments, but equally moving funny moments, and watch for the hilarious cameo by Nicole Kidman (apparently she flew in for a couple of hours and was completely happy to jump onboard with the scene and go at it completely ad-lib)

Brilliant!

Verdict: Nice guys finish first!

My Rating: 7 out of 10
