VBT – Musings of an Earth Angel
Musings of an Earth Angel
by Suzanne Adams
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Young Adult/New Adult
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
22-year-old Samantha Kingston had the perfect job, perfect boyfriend, and perfect Friday nights. When disaster strikes she loses everything and is propelled into a journey where evil and good, dark and light are battling for her destiny. Will the Demon Brigade viciously destroy her? Or will her Angel team and the Divine help her to elevate and see her real truth as an Earth Angel?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BOOK EXCERPT
I had heard of being possessed by demons, but I never thought I would be so lucky as to get to have the experience firsthand. Once again, I could feel my body trembling and that strange bitter saliva building in my throat. I needed an exit strategy—and fast. I’d learned to expect and accept crazy episodes, but I had hoped I could at least enjoy Rose’s birthday dinner out with my friends.
Sweat trickled down my forehead, and I pushed my chair away from the dinner table and staggered to my feet. Rose grabbed me by the forearm. She and the others had already enjoyed three bottles of Prosecco; and the night was just getting started at La Lune et La Soleil, the hot new restaurant in midtown.
Rose raised her voice above the clink of glasses and hum of conversation. “Where are you going? Jacob’s just getting to the good part. You gotta listen.”
With sweat now dripping down my cheeks and the back of my neck, I sat back down as Jacob continued with his crazy story. He’d been over served at a party a few weeks ago and jumped into a parked cop car. The keys were somehow still in the ignition, and he drove through town shouting at random people through the car’s megaphone. Then he somehow managed to escape without the local cop tracing him. He’d gotten away scot-free—so far.
The waiter brought over the first course and Ken, a good friend to both Rose and me, proposed another toast. “To the beautiful birthday girl and to another great year of us all having fun together!”
I raised my glass of sparkling water—I could barely stay sane as it was these days and was terrified to think how my body would react to alcohol, at least for now anyway. Woozily, I toasted my dearest friend as best as I could. I fought to keep my eyes from rolling into the back of my head and almost dropped my glass.
“Whoa!” Ken said. “You sure that’s just sparkling water?”
Book Excerpt
After short moments, the archer and samurai sit by the stream, looking out over the dull sunset. They remain quiet – Kibishi looking troubled, while Albion smiles evermore.
Kibishi: I still stand by what I said. We will part ways once we reach Valero. I cannot allow Gideon to follow me any further. He’ll only end up dead.
Albion: I understand. However do you still stand by the other thing you said? The thing about: “Whoever said you and I were friends?” You didn’t honestly mean that – did you?
Kibishi: No… I didn’t mean that. I just don’t want Gideon to trust in me – that’s all.
Albion: And why would you not want somebody to trust you? Friendship is based on trust after all?
Taking a moment to think about his reply, Kibishi bites his lips together while Albion awaits his answer.
Kibishi: When you trust someone… you expect much from that person. You rely on them and look to them for help. I am not capable of doing any of those things, hence why I am not suitable to be Gideon’s friend. If something ever happened to him, I would never forgive myself.
Albion: Hahaha, you and Gideon are so similar. You both are burdened with this cloud of doubt and self-pity. However, if there is one thing that I would criticize about your friendship, it’s that you both assume Gideon to be weak when he is in fact more capable than anyone here.
With a suspicious expression, Kibishi glares upon Albion for many moments.
Kibishi: What are you trying to say?
Albion: Come now, Crimson samurai. You mean to tell me that the thought did not cross your mind, at least once? Gideon is the son of the famous “Miracle Gunman”. Why are you treating him as a weak comrade? That is not a good sign of a friend. Real friends
Author Bio
Reuben Miles grew up in London until his parents decided that they needed fresher air. They bundled themselves up and drove to Devon, which is in the South West of UK. He spent the rest of his childhood climbing trees and telling stories and writing music in a tumbledown cottage with friends.
Reuben studied Artificial Intelligence and Psychology in Bristol, followed by a degree in Music and Engineering. In 2008 he moved to Brighton to play in a band. When it became clear that no one really wanted to listen to their music, he started working for Children’s Centres and writing stories instead.
Reuben is a dog person. He thinks that if you prefer cats there is probably something very wrong with you. Possibly the cat has brainwashed you, in which case it’s not really your fault, but you should seek help all the same.
Book Excerpt
From the other side of the car park, a man and a woman were watching him check the door handles. Kasper tried his best not to look guilty, which just made him look exceptionally guilty. The man whispered something to the woman and pulled a phone from his pocket. Kasper scowled at them, but moved away, crossing the road as casually as he could, cursing the man under his breath. He had no way of proving the car belonged to his dad, and it would take ages to explain to the police. Not that the police would believe him anyway, not after all the trouble he caused them last summer. He stopped to give the man his most furious glare before turning the corner.
And that’s when he saw it.
The man across the car park, moving uncomfortably, as if he’d not long learnt how to walk, or like someone had twisted and pinched his synapses. Even from this distance Kasper could tell he wasn’t blinking. His eyes were stretched wide and glassy, like a lizard’s. They caught the low sun. The woman tugged at his arm, calling his name, but he wouldn’t pay her any attention. He took a lurching step toward Kasper, who decided it was time to run.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BOOK EXCERPT
…but there was something gnawing away at him; something about Zachary Jackson that was just not right. He seemed like a good kid, a good son to a troubled mother and a dying father. But now Bobby stood in the shadows watching Zack leave The Chemist’s house and he cursed his sixth sense.
The Chemist’s house was one of a pair of semis that were angled at the end of Shortcross Drive. The area was the roughest part of the city, an independent borough with its own self-administered terms of crime and punishment. The crimes that carried the heaviest forms of punishment were those that affected The Chemist negatively. Punishments ranged from being forced to cut his lawn for a month to having both your knees smashed by a crow bar. And even worse penalties if you failed to insist to A&E staff that you’d been hit by a car.
By the time the local police force had recognised The Chemist’s power, it was easier to leave him well alone than to face the cost of breaking down his power base. The semi detached council house was fortified more strongly than a clearing bank’s vault. Over the years, every door and window had been replaced and so heavily reinforced that it would take a tank to force entry into the property.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:
It was a strange and twisting road that led to the publication of my first novel. From my humble beginnings, as an office clerk, to ownership of a multi-million dollar business I always maintained my love for literature.
Born and raised in Bristol, England. I spent most of my life in business, my companies turning over in the region of $500 million. The majority of that time marketing cars, eventually owning the largest Saab specialist in the world, before a bitter divorce forced me rethink my priorities. Particularly between 2003 and 2005 when I had to accept that I was no longer a millionaire but literally penniless. I avoided bankruptcy by the skin of my teeth and slowly rebuilt my life.
This led me to the life changing decision to leave the bustling city and move to live halfway up a mountain in the Welsh valleys. At the same time I started a part time six year English Literature course at Bristol University, and attended creative writing classes at Cardiff University. I left school at sixteen and this was my first taste of further education and an immense challenge.
I eventually adjusted my thinking to the academic life, and on 30 June 2015 had confirmation of my 2.1(Hons) degree from Bristol University. At the same time I also won the prestigious Hopkins Prize for my essay on Virginia Woolf and the unsaid within her text. Now the university courses are finished it will, with any luck, gives me plenty of extra time that I can devote to my fiction writing.
Thanks to the university experiences, my interest in English literature has flourished over recent years. Hopefully I have evolved as a writer from my earlier work in short stories (over ninety of them.) Although interestingly my first three novels have all been developed from a long forgotten short story.
Life is, once again, very good, and I live very happily halfway up a mountain, in the Welsh Valleys, with my wonderful partner Mari, and our rescue dog Wolfie.

When The Serpent Bites
When The Serpent Bites
by Nesly Clerge
GENRE: Crime fiction, psychological thriller
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Frederick Starks has it all—a gorgeous wife who was his high school sweetheart, three beautiful children, a mansion and cars others envy, millions in the bank, respected in his community, admired by his employees, loved and respected by loyal friends. He revels in the hard-earned power and control he’s acquired. As the saying goes, “All that glitters is not gold,” which Starks discovers when gut-wrenching betrayal by his wife sends him over the edge and into a maximum security prison. There, Starks is a new “fish,” stripped of nearly everything he’s always relied on. In that place, where inmates and guards have their own rules and codes of conduct, Starks is forced to face the darker side of life, and his own darker side, especially when the betrayals, both inside and outside the prison, don’t stop. He must choose which path to follow when the line between right and wrong becomes blurred: one that leads to getting out of the physical and emotional hellhole he finds himself in or one that keeps him alive.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BOOK EXCERPT
One thing that wasn’t a lie was an event that should have sealed their bond as a couple. Thought of that experience and the fear he’d felt for their safety sent shivers through him. No way could he have anticipated then that in the future, his escape from that element was temporary; that one day he’d be living among them; that he’d be considered one of them.
The gas gauge in Starks’s Chevy had red-arrowed on EMPTY while he was driving home.
If he used the bus as often as possible or car-pooled, he could afford to put five gallons in the tank, just in case, and fill it up when more money came in next week. He was okay about doing that, not that he had a choice.
The local convenience store with gas pumps was a half mile from their house, and in an even worse neighborhood than where they lived. He was careful to grip and release the nozzle so that no more than those calculated gallons went into his fuel tank. He went inside, grabbed a couple packs of ramen noodles then stood second in line at the register, anxious to get out as quickly as possible.
A yard and a half away and to his left, a man keyed in numbers onto the ATM pad.
The glass door near the ATM opened. A young Caucasian teen wearing dark sunglasses and a hooded sweatshirt entered and glanced around, tapped at a few bags of chips but didn’t pick one. The teen approached the ATM just as the machine dispensed the cash.
“Gimme the cash,” he told the man.
“Fuck off.” The ATM man slammed his right fist into the teen’s jaw.
The teen pulled a .38 from under his sweatshirt and fired three times. Three twenties drifted to the floor. He scooped up the blood-splattered bills and ran out.
Behind the counter, the employee yelled into the phone, “Police! Shooting at—”
That was all Starks heard as he rushed out behind the thief. He jumped into his Toyota parked behind a truck at the other pump. Car in reverse gear he punched the gas pedal, burned rubber, and took out a post near the Do Not Enter sign.
He slammed on the brakes when he pulled into the dirt yard at his house, sending his satchel to the floorboard.
Starks grabbed his satchel and ran toward the door, where Kayla waited for him.
“What’s the matter?” she asked.
“Lock the door.”
“Tell me—”
“Lock the damn door. We’ve got to get the hell out of this neighborhood. I’ve got to find a way. Now.”

Guest Author Promo – Bobby R. Woodall
Born in Oklahoma City June 21, 1944 and raised in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Wild as a peach elm boar when he was younger. Last 40 years he has resided in Columbus, Indiana.Bobby has worked in the oilfields of Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. First as a floor hand then as a derrickman. He was an assistant grocery manager, sold insurance for Mutual of Omaha and Allstate Insurance Company.
Wrote two western novels; CLEARWATER(76,694 words-276 pages) and MERCER’S MANOR(95,799 words-333 pages). There is no profanity in either. They are published by SYNERGEBOOKS in paperback and electronically on the Internet. Both novels are listed by Wal-Mart Online, Amazon, Borders, Books-A-Million, Barnes & Noble on the Internet. A hint: When he wrote MERCER’S MANOR, he had in his mind’s eye, Tom Selleck as Dan Mercer, Sam Elliott as his side-kick and Reba McEntire as the love interest. In CLEARWATER, he envisioned Clint Eastwood as the aging sheriff, doesn’t want to rock the boat just glide along until retirement.
BOOKS:
Clearwater
Murder, suspense, rampant crime, and old fashion justice in a lawless land are all to be had in Bobby Woodall’s old west epic, CLEARWATER! But more than a western, this novel shows a psyche that some think only thrives in the modern world.
Sure to grace the silver screen, CLEARWATER will be an unadulterated look at how the west was truly won with strength, conviction and people with will and determination to survive whatever the cost.
Set in 1879 Indian Territory, this story takes you on a journey that allows you to feel the heart and soul of the characters who carved the path to today’s western living. Before freeways, convenience stores, and gangs, there were Indians, rugged countryside and outlaws.
When a cold-blooded killer escapes his execution and arrives in Clearwater, robbing the bank, leaving dead bodies in his wake and a town nearly burned to the ground, a posse is formed to capture him. In the days that follow you wonder just how innocent the ‘good guys’ really are.
CLEARWATER — a town hoping never to be found? A town of victims–Or a town where other criminals striving to escape the law have tried to start a new life? Can the good people of Clearwater forgive and forget? Can they rebuild the town? Do they want to? Will they stop the menace that threatens them?
Find out! Purchase your copy of CLEARWATER then give yourself plenty of time-you won’t want to put this book down until the very last page. Five Stars.
Mercer’s Manor
Dan Mercer is an ex-Union officer struggling to overcome the altrocities of having been a prisoner of war while forging a new life for himself on the untamed plains of Oklahoma. Now, as part-owner of a ranch he helped save from bankruptcy, the only thing marring his happiness is a lost love. So when the government sends him on a quest to find his love and betray her, Mercer has a choice to make…
“Mercer’s Manor by Bobby R. Woodall has Dan Mercer leading a cast of strong male characters through their paces. Mr. Woodall’s descriptions paint a vivid picture of the harsh realities of the best western tradition.” SHANNAH BIONDINE, author
“Mercer’s Manor is a refreshing novel like those I remember reading as a kid. It required me to use my imagination, unlike most graphically displayed books of today. We need more wholesome storywriters like Mr. Woodall.” RODERICK BOCKMILLER, Ph.D.

Sarantos Releases a New Music Video
Sarantos Continues Being a Day Dreamer And Releases A New Music Video.
Has anyone ever had their dream come true? This music video is probably one that Sarantos is most proud of as it involves clouds, drones, green screens and is downright pretty cool especially because it is very relatable to the everyday person!
Sarantos feels like all of his dreams are coming true. Excluding instrumentals, this new rock song “Dreamer” achieved the best reviews to date. Sarantos is proud to preach to anyone who will listen. There is no reason to wait for fate or chance. Everyone should follow their dreams and see where they lead. This music video is essentially about a boy who finally reaches for the stars, and with a little help from up above, makes it to the dream girl.
“I feel like all of my dreams are coming true,” says Sarantos. “This rock song has gotten incredible reviews and it’s been rated the highest out of all my songs which is perfect because I’ve always been a dreamer. There’s no doubt about that but I’ve always worked hard to get what I want and nothing’s been handed to me. I’ve never been scared of work. I definitely get that from my dad. However, there is one thing that I’ve never pursued yet always dreamed about. I’ve been scared silly to admit for my entire life how much I really wanted to be a rock star! That all changed with my father’s death and I decided to go for it. That’s the story of how I got started down this path and launched my solo musical career. My only regret is that I waited this long to go for it. My advice to everyone out there is to follow your heart. There’s no reason not to!”
Sarantos’ unique sound has been best described by industry insiders as “an emotionally powerful vocal style masterfully united with music that is a fusion of classic ’80s rock blended with modern soft rock and pop music.”
Since 2014, Sarantos has won over 25 awards with Akademia LA Music and Beat 100, while also being nominated for the International Music & Entertainment Awards and the Hollywood Songwriting Awards. Even without ever using a professional music studio, label, ad agency or radio promoters, Sarantos’ song, “What If I Never See You Again,” was in the top 200 on the major lists in the US for radio airplay, according to the Digital Radio Tracker Top 200 charts. On the independent charts, Sarantos was in the top 10. He was on both of these lists for most of 2015!
33% of any music-related sales profits from this song are going straight to St. Jude. St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
*Because Sarantos wants his music shared throughout the world, fans can always find all of his songs, lyric sheets, videos and books on his website for free. He openly gives everyone the right to share his song MP3s for free with anyone they want via email or any social media platforms.

I’m extremely strong driven, especially when it comes to the completion of a project. I believe that no matter how dire one’s predicament, there is still room to flourish. And that philosophy has been indoctrinated in my own way of life, hence with that belief, makes me me.
If you could hang out with one famous person for one day, who would it be and why?
That one person would be Ben Affleck. I have a number of completed movie scripts and Ben Affleck being the professional that he is on camera as well as his directing capabilities, I believe that our collaborating on a number of projects would make for a plethora of quality movies being brought to the big screen. I want the reader to get a general idea from the very first poem, that the words that I bring forth in MY LIFE: POETIC LITERATURE aren’t just a testament to my own growth and development, but also to send a concise message that no matter what one may endure, the strength to overcome should be much greater.
What’s the story behind your latest book?
I started off writing poetry at nineteen years old as a way to express myself. The thought at the time of actually having my deepest thoughts one day published was never a thought. But over the years as I’ve delved more into embracing my potentiality to possibly share my words as upliftment to those who may be unsure as to the trajectory in which their life is headed.
What is your writing process?
In regards to poetry, once I bring the title of the poem to fruition, that guides me to formulate the poetic words onto paper.
What are you working on next?
I have a novel/movie script which is titled ONE WOMANS JOURNEY about a young mother name Sharee who is a young mother of two boys who lives in Inglewood California. Sharee is a product of the streets with a bad reputation. She is falsely accused of a crime and sentenced to thirty years in prison. While in prison her oldest son is violently killed, which causes Sharee to change her violent life style in hopes of making it out to her only remaining son who has now followed his older brothers path of a life of crime.
What advice do you have for other writers who want to get the word out about their book?
First, in anything you do, you do it from the heart, and I believe that genuineness will reverberate to others. Secondly, encircle yourself with people who genuinely believe in your craft. And thirdly stay persistent because behind a hundred rejections, there are two hundred acceptances. But you’ll never know unless if your stay persistent.
What is your favorite book on your shelf right now?
My favorite book right now I would have to say is: “THE FOUNDATIONS OF SCREENWRITING” By: Syd Field, which gives an in depth step by step guide to the art of writing a movie script.
Do you have any special/extraordinary talents?
Well as far as special/extraordinary talents. I don’t know if this would be extraordinary, but I can write a novel from beginning to end in my end, then transcribe it onto paper.
You are given the choice of one super power. What super power would you have and why?
That one super power by far would be to better educate the youth, no matter nationality or creed. Too many of the youth do not understand that their actions of today can and will inevitably affect their actions of tomorrow. The kids are our future and that one super power would go to the advancement of the youth in believing that anything is possible if they just believe.
List 5 things on your bucket list:
To see a number of my novels adapted into full length movies.
To start a mentoring program for at risk youth.
To travel abroad.
To become fluent in two more languages.
To leave this earth knowing that I made a difference in a positive way.
