ICE STYLE.....2023 U.S. Figure Skating Championships COSTUMES: The WOMEN!

This past week was the 2023 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. They were held in San Jose California and I had the pleasure of attending over the weekend, along with my Skating Fan Partner-in-Crime (and hubby) David Paul.

We both LOVE figure skating and were excited that the Nationals were being held in San Jose--a short flight from our L.A. home so...we had to buy tickets and attend!

As we spent many hours in the Arena watching the competitions, I ran into several fans of figure skating and more importantly, my Figure Skating Costumes BLOG here. They all asked if I was going to do a Blog Post so...here we go:
Let's start with some of my faves of Women's Costumes:

PROJECT RUNWAY.....Season 19 Project Runway - THE FINALE: Behind The Scenes Photo Recap!

It's FINALE TIME!!! After 13 episodes...16 designers...and months of filming...months of designing...it's time for the FINALE of Season 19 of Bravo's "Project Runway"! In the previous episode, the final four designers - all women (for the first time in "Project Runway" history!) - got to go home for several months to work on their final collections consisting of ten looks, that they would then show at New York Fashion Week.

As Consulting Producers for the show, David and I were delighted to return for the Finale, which was going to be filmed at The Shed , an Arts & Culture space (which has also been a fashion show location for previous New York Fashion Weeks) located on Hudson Yards.

Before beginning our production duties, David and I had the chance to take advantage of an afternoon and a couple of nights we had free (A MIRACLE in TV production!) so we decided to make it a "Tourist'y" Afternoon going...and Broadway Show Nights:

But, enough of the "Nights Off"...time to get to work: Back to Consulting Producing Duties...

One of my (many) duties as Consulting Producer, was to do "Box Checks" and check out everything the four finalists brought from home, and make sure they did not include anything they weren't supposed to...or at least, had not been approved.

PROJECT RUNWAY.....Season 19 Project Runway: Episode 13 "The Sky Is The Limit": Photo Recap!

We are almost coming to the "Fashion Finish Line" for this 19th Season of Bravo's "Project Runway" --Now, it's time for Episode 13, titled "The Sky Is The Limit", inspired by the NYC skyline but having a deeper meaning of directing the remaining four designers (all women!) to Design Without Limits...Show Us Who You Are!

As part of the episode, as Consulting Producers, David and I were challenged to put together a "Retrospective" of each of the designer's creations from the season. We selected the looks from each designer, steam them, made them look "presentable" and place them on a rack--and some on dress forms for display...

The reason for the special display was because the Finalists were going to each have a "walkthrough" with representatives/members of the CFDA/Council of Fashion Designers of America...

Here are the individual looks that were created by the top four designers, from this "Pre-Finale" Episode:

"Make it Work": Before the Runway Judging, my fellow Consulting Producer partner-in-fashion David had to get on the floor to stitch up a side seam that had come undone on one of the designer's looks:

PROJECT RUNWAY.....Season 19 Project Runway: Episode 12 Coco Rocha Photoshoot: Photo Recap!

For the 12th episode of Season 19 Bravo's "Project Runway", a very special guest was invited to be the Design--and Photo Muse--for the remaining designers: The fabulous Supermodel Coco Rocha! The challenge was an Editorial Photoshoot Challenge, so who better than to exemplify this than Designer and "Project Runway" Mentor Christian Siriano's friend and Runway Show "Closer", Miss Coco Rocha!

Coco is known as a Catwalk Diva, of course, but she is also known for her incredible editorial photoshoots where she contorts herself into Couture-level body poses (just like she does on the runway!)--just the perfect canvas for this week's challenge.
Here's my Photo Recap of the episode:
After they found out what the Challenge was: To create an original Editorial Look for Coco Rocha to be photographed for a Fashion Shoot...the designers got to chose A PROP for their individual photo shoots. Our wonderful props and the art department had set up a ladder, fans, dumpster bucket, "crime" tape, fake plants, pallets, chair, portable street delineators...you name it, it was there:

Workroom Photos:After a day of creating their Coco Rocha looks, I took some photos of the Designs-in-Progress before tomorrow's big photoshoot:

We filmed the episode on what was probably THE HOTTEST DAY in Brooklyn/NY this past Summer--in fact, it was one of the highest temperatures recorded! And not only was it hot...if you have spent time in Brooklyn/NYC during the Summer months...you also know it was HUMID and VERY NASTY! Oh, and did I mention the actual photoshoot was shot on a non-air-conditioned warehouse? Yep. And as Consulting Producers, David and I were sweating right along with everyone else. It must be said, Coco was INCREDIBLE! Never complained, always professional: A class act!
David was a fabulous "photoshoot helper" helping Coco and the designs look their best--especially the ones with dramatic back capes or trains, as we tried to do a "backstage"/behind the scenes photoshoot ourselves...

The Final Photos from the Shoot/Challenge:

Finally--The DEFINITE highlight of the hot, sweaty day of filming was getting the fabulous, and most gracious Coco Rocha to "fun pose" with me:

PROJECT RUNWAY.....Season 19 Project Runway: Episode 11 "Haute Hair" Challenge: Photo Recap!

Haute Hair...That's the theme for the 11th episode of Season 19 Bravo's "Project Runway". For this week's challenge, young up-and-coming stylists from the TRESemme Future Stylists Fund - a fund created for advancing Black Women in the Haircare Industry - were invited to help create fabulous runway-and-editorial worthy hairstyles inspired by the fashion designs (and vice versa)...Some of the hairstyles eventually created with the fashion included Bantu knots, creative braids, finger waves, and afro puffs.

PROJECT RUNWAY.....Season 19 Project Runway: Episode 10 Real Housewives Challenge: Photo Recap!

For the 10th Episode of Season 19 Bravo's "Project Runway", the challenge was the "Real Client" Challenge--where the designers have to work with "real" clients (as opposed to designing for their models) and create an original design. This time, their clients were some of the fabulous women of the "Real Housewives" franchise...

They were Gina Kirschenheiter and Shannon Beador of "The Real Housewives of Orange County", Gizelle Bryant, Dr. Wendy Osefo, and "Grande Dame" Karen Huger of "The Real Housewives of Potomac", and Leah McSweeney and Luann de Lesseps from "The Real Housewives of New York City".

The Design Challenge was to create the "ultimate" Reunion Look for the Housewives, with the designers making sure to take note of their client's wishes and demands, as well as staying true to their own design aesthetic...Here are Behind-The-Scenes photos I took as a Consulting Producer from the Episode...

ICE STYLE.....Beijing Olympics 2022 FIGURE SKATING COSTUMES: ICE DANCE!

Continuing with my "ICE STYLE" Beijing 2022 Olympics Figure Skating Costumes BLOG, I have talked about the MEN HERE , and now it is time to discuss the ICE DANCE costumes! The Ice Dance Competition culminated several days back with the exciting Free Dance Competition, making it a redemption story for the incredible French team of Papadakis and Cizeron, who at the last Winter Olympics had that infamous "wardrobe malfunction", where the back clasp of her costume came unhooked. They succeeded in winning the gold, with a powerful, moving, sublime skate that will be measured as the Rolls Royce of Ice Dance free skates for years to come.
Now, let's discuss the COSTUMES, beginning with the GOLD medalists:
