Narrator Interview with Scott Bennett

We have another interview with an audiobook narrator. Scott Bennett does more than LitRPG, but we still wanted to pick his brain for our readers. Husband, father, middle school teacher, scooter enthusiast (Vespa), Air Force veteran, book nerd, and…Audible Approved Audiobook narrator, we’re thankful he took the time to interview with us.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I grew up in Nashville, TN back when kids my age played with Evel Knievel toys, rode banana seat bikes over rickety...

Author Interview with Stuart Thaman

Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Stuart Thaman graduated from Hillsdale College with degrees in politics and German, and has since sworn off life in the cold north. Now comfortably settled in Kentucky, he lives with his lovely wife, a rambunctious Boston terrier named Yoda, and four cats who probably hate him. When not writing, he enjoys smoking cigars, acquiring bruises in mosh pits, and preparing for the end of the world.

When did you first start writing fiction?

I began writing in 2012...

How to read LitRPG like an ARPG designer

Today we have a special treat, a guest post by Edwin McRae. You can find out more about this new LitRPG author with a game development background on his author blog. As Edwin puts it, “I’ve been a screenwriter and story designer for over 12 years now. After four years of writing for television, I started with Grinding Gear Games in 2010 and became lead writer on the creative team that took their online RPG, Path of Exile, from 80,000 players to 20 million players. I’ve also worked with numero...

Narrator Interview with Andrea Emmes

We have something a bit different today. We’ve done a lot of LitRPG author interviews over the last year, but I wanted to expand our focus a bit. An award Winning Audiobook Narrator (ABR Award – Young Adult), Andrea Emmes was born in Hollywood, FL and grew up in both Tennessee and Rhode Island, started her career in musical theater.

Author Interview with Stephen Roark

Stephen Roark, author of Call of Carrethen, is an avid gamer and lover of fantasy novels. He’s always been writing, ever since he was little and dictating his stories to his mom. He started writing Call of Carrethen and the Wellspring series as a way of immortalizing his experiences in those early days of the MMORPGs and all the friends he made and experiences he had.

When did you first start writing fiction?

I’ve always been writing! Ever since I was a kid and I’d scribble in my notebooks, w...

Best D&D Books with Wizards

Here’s our look at some of the best D&D books with mages, wizards, sorcerers, and more.

Wizards are perhaps the most iconic of the character classes of Dungeons and Dragons. For good or ill, they’re what most non-players think of when they describe role-playing games. While wizards are certainly quite powerful, they don’t always get as much actual attention as they deserve. It might be because the concept of a wizard is so deeply ingrained into fantasy works or because they’re difficult to d...

Author Interview with R. M. Mulder

Most of his friends from High School still don’t even know his first name. Known only as either “Mulder” or “Agent”, there was an unforgettable moment when a girl he was dating expressed her confusion when a friend approached him and called him “Richard”. The ongoing joke was “Hey Mulder, where’s Scully?” Ironically he later married a redhead. Here’s our quick Q&A with Mulder. Enjoy.

When did you first start publishing fiction?

I published first novel, “The Secret Journal” in November 2003. Y...

D&D Editions: Dungeons & Dragons Red Box Basic Set (1977-1995)

If you look at the current version of Dungeons and Dragons, you’ll notice that it’s labeled Fifth Edition. While it’s clear that the preceding edition was Fourth Edition and that the version before that was the Third Edition, figuring out the Second Edition is a bit tougher. OD&D is certainly D&D first edition, but there were two competing iterations of the game between OD&D and Third Edition. While AD&D 2nd Edition usually gets to credit as the bridge, one must not forget that there was anot...
