Book Review : KIM by Rudyard Kipling

Book Name : KIM
Author: Rudyard Kipling
Publisher: Finger Print
No. of Pages: 356
Genre: Classics
MRP: 19 9

Blurb of the book

I am Kim. I am Kim. And what is Kim?' His soul repeated it again and again.Kimball “Kim” O’Hara, an Irish orphan, leads a hand-to-mouth existence. He begs on the streets of Lahore, British India and runs small errands for Mahbub Ali, a horse trader and spy.One day, when he befriends an old Tibetan lama who is on a quest to find the legendary and sacred River of the Arrow, Kim becomes his disciple and follows him on his quest to attain enlightenment. What happens as they journey together along the Grand Trunk Road and learn about the Great Game?A riveting coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of the Anglo-Russian rivalry in Central Asia at the end of the nineteenth century, Rudyard Kipling’s Kim is a timeless classic. It has undergone several film and television adaptations and continues to remain noteworthy.

My View:

As a reader, getting an opportunity to read a classic and finnishing it is not less than any achievent. KIM is a masterpiece of Rudyard Kipling. He wrote this book in 19th century when India was the colony of the British. The work of Rudyard Kipling were more focussed on the stories of English soldiers in India. The shows the unseen fact and pains of the other side. We have always seen Britishers as cruel people who ruled in India, but Kipling's story revealed what these soldiers from the West faced in India.

KIM revolves round the story of an Irish orphan Kimbal ""Kim O'Hara. He was the son of an Irish soldier and Indian mother. His mother died out of disease and later he lost his dad too. The he was sent to his aunt , his mother's sister. The story revolves round the struggles of Kim, and his journey on the Grand Trunk Road from Lahore to Laddakh, with an old Tibentan Lama.He befriend this Lama who was on his way to reveal the mysteries of the legendary and sacred river of the arrow. Kim became his disciple and followed him.

My Ratings

Review:
I read this book when India did Air Stike on Pakistan, and in the bottom of our hearts we have the fear of war. At this time when I was reading AA, at every page it was giving me goosebumps. The story has all the engaging factors in it, but what amazed me the most are:
1. Unimaginable after effects of a nuclear war
2. How to safeguard people and precautionary measures could be taken are so clearly being explained by the author.
3. Though it is future imaginary incident, but the author has explained it with so much clarity
4. I enjoyed the planning of the underground city and how things were implemented, and how people still could fight for powerwhen their lives were at stake.
Overal its a truly engaging story, that shivers you with the aftermath of wars.
Love n live peacefully.

Terrorism!!! - Cancer affecting the World Humanity

Terrorism! What is it? A synomyn of hatred, killing, destruction is nothing but cancer spreading its wings to kill the humanity across the world. The act of some terrorist groups be it in #Pulwama, or #Uri or #9/11 attack on Pentagon, or #26/11 terror attack in Mumbai are all examples of the acts conducted by some insane and inhuman group of people, according to whom killing is Jihad, in the name of God.

How is it possible to spread destruction, in the name of God? Its just a way to fool innocent people to fulfill their ugly mission of killing and destruction. Recently, on 22nd of Feb, I was privileged to get the inivation of attenting a movie premier by the director of the movie, Gopi Kakarla garu, which is based on this concept. When Gopi garu invited me to attend the premier of 'Mission Hyderabad', I had the feeling that what would I understand in a Telugu movie, being a non-Telugu. But still it was an honour, and I thought why not, lets go in the name of friendship.
This is a short film of half an hour that leavs a strong message of how terrorism is killing humanity, but humanity also has the power of killing terrorism. Believe me, some expressions dont need any language to understand, love and hatred are those. They have their own voice. Though I  was unable to understand the dialogues but I was able to understand the movie, the message, the scenes, and they have touched me utterly.
Terrorism is not a word that means destruction, but its a disease like Cancer spreading across the world leaving marks on humanity that could not be erased unless terrorism is killed forever.
I would reccommend everyone to watch the movie ''Mission Hyderabad", releasing on 2nd March.

#Newmovie #shortfilm #terrorism #bomblast #destruction #againsthumanity

Sucess Story-II (Md_Akhlaq)

MD_ Akhlaq
x

The second story in my blog is about Mohammad Akhlaq, who is today a known name in the literary field, though not as an Author but as a supporter. He is a supporter for all the upcoming and talented authors of India. His work involves the authors of all the top publishing houses in the country namely, Penguin, Half Baked Beans, Kalamos Literary Services, WriteIndia, Srishti etc., the list is long.

By now, you must have understood that Akhlaq is a young book blogger, promoter and reviewer. I am sure you must have had a feeling that what is so special in his story. The speciality is the same, the theme of my blogs, that is he had followed his passion over and above anything else. The journey wasn't so rosy, but his hardwork and dedication is now made him a name in the tongue of all the new and old authors and publishers in the country.

Akhlaq is an advent reader since childhood. You must be surprised to know that he is a lifesciences/ medical graduate. This fiction lover didnt felt the spark while he was graduating. His heart was looking for books, more fictions to unveil. During his college days, he used to write almost daily, generally on social issues. He also had got published his best of the works in two anthologies.

Akhlaq is very close to his Dad, who is also his biggest supporter in whatever he does. He chose to do graduation in life sciences, to impress his Dad, but he was incompetent in satisfying his inner soul. This book collection maniac wanted to be a lawyer. A person require lots of courage to follow his or her passion, when you know that it wouldnt be as rewarding as your present one. It would have been a very difficult phase for Akhlaq to leave a reputed field of study and profession and enter into a field which doesnt guarantee you any security. But his heart wanted this. His passion was into reading books.

His biggest support in following his way of life was his father. He gave him his trust and freedom to do what he wants to do. It was just an year ago, Akhlaq started reviewing, blogging and other promotional activities for the authors. In just one year he made his mark in the literary business. Though the journey hasn't been so easy, as not being a literature graduate and his reviews were being criticized initially.  Learning is a part of the journey and if you enjoy the journey, learning becomes smooth. Akhlaq had improved a lot in his writing style and his reading speed has also increased.

Initially, his parents were sceptical when books were coming to home, and they found this to be a little weird. But now they understand his work and truly appreciate it. The best part of his journey is his Gamba (work place), developed by his Dad. His Dad decided to set-up a proper reading room for Akhlaq and gave him opportunity to explore. To explore the world of books. Any book fest or events, he has the previledge to attend.

The confidence that Akhlaq's Dad has on him is because of his vision, that every book has equal importance. It could be boring sometimes but could never be considered as bad. Therefore, his Dad decided to provide him with a platform from where he would be able to support the aspiring authors and new releases.  Akhlaq can read every genre but self-help, social issues, and historical fictions are his favourite genres.

Being an author, I know how difficult it is for an Indian author to promote his or her book and people like Akhlaq are no less than Messiahs of marketing for the Indian authors. His journey is not so easy, with lots of turning points, but lets wish him luck and success in his mission of bringing all books on the same platform and to provide an equal opportunity to grow. The world of books and authors in India, is facing a serious disease of nepotism, and people like Akhlaq with this vision could bring a change in New India.
Let's take a pledge with Md_Akhlaq to provide equal opportunities to all the books.

Again, this story made me feel that parents who are the building blocks for shaping the future of any child should support them. Just like Akhlaq's Dad Mr. Tahir Hasan, who gave his trust and freedom to fly, rather than restricting him to be a Doctor or Engineer to impress the societal norms, don’t force your expectations or capabilities on your child. Respect his or identity, and let them live, let them fly….

Success Stories of Passionate People.... Story I

Sanjay Raichura

Following your passion is the rule of today’s gen, but things weren’t so rosy 2 decades back. The previous generations have sacrificed their desires, passions in the name of family, trend, society etc etc. But, in the struggle of following your dreams, there were some who were not willing to follow others but to their heart. There were some who were born to lead and not to follow. There are people who are not willing to do a tedious 9 to 5 job, as the only happiness could be achieved from these jobs is the salary day, and rest of days are just to pass.
My first blog on the “success stories of passionate people”, is about a guy who left his family when he was just seventeen, to follow his dream. This boy wasn’t sure how he would be leading his life with just 1500 bucks in his pockets and he rented a 2500 bucks flat then. Today, this person is the well-acknowledged name in more than 100 tollywood superhit movies such as Magadheera, Stalin, Mass, Super etc. He is a name in the field of photography and acting.
Sanjay Raichura, a very poised and warm personality, who will make you fall in love with his aura of spreading happiness around. I have never met a person before who is so charmingly warm and loving to the people whomsoever he meets. I invited Mr. Sanjay for the book launch of my book Innocent Wings at Hyderabad Literary Fest, through a common friend. I was sceptical whether he would come or not, and if he comes, how will I manage a filmstar, and his tantrums. I was literally nervous when he agreed to come as a guest for my book launch.
Sanjay was totally contrasting of what I have thought about him. A chaming, down to Earth person, who walks, spreading love. I bet you would fall in love with his smile that he carries with him, in every situation. His nature, his success, and his aura, made me inquisitive to know more about him and his success story. Being into media and films, Sanjay is choosy when it comes to selecting friends. He is a unique blend of Gujarati and South Indian cultures. Born in 1964 in a Gujju family in Calicut, Kerala. His family shifted to Hyderabad in 1967, when he was just 3, and from then he blended with the South-Indian culture. Sanjay never had much interest in studies though he belonged to an highly educated family. He was considered as a looser in the eyes of his father. To clear each grade he took his own time. He was seventeen when he reached grade X. Though studies used to take his peace off mind, but there was an instrument called camera, that attacted him soulfully.
Little Sanjay never had any interest in studies and so he was never in the good books of his father. His father had a notion that this boy would bring bad name to the family reputation. His childhood was spent hiding from father and teachers and clicking pictures. He opted for photography club in school and there were 82 students who were with him in this club. This boy noticed that for every click each child had to pay, and when he compared the price in the market for one picture it was just double. So the young photographer having a business mind noticed the kind of profit the photographers are making, it was into *2 (just double).
Sanjay’s father wanted him to study but he admired photography, and when he was seventeen in grade tenth, he left his home. With just 1500 rupees in his pockets, he left his protected world to explore things from his four eyes, (including his camera). Strangely, he had just 1500 rupees and he rented a flat of 2500 rupees. Though the struggle wasn’t easy but he had a never compromising nature, that became his strength to work -hard to achieve his luxuries, he desired.
Generally we compromise depending on the budget we have, even I do, and then it becomes an habit and then nature. But, this non-compromising nature of Raichura Garu, inspires me, that we are capable to achieve what we desire without any compromises. He has achieved with nothing to a super-photographer and a well-known actor. He did all kinds of photographies, from events to marriages, industry, fashion, food, jewellery and so much more. With photography he also started getting offers for the movies. In 2001, a friend of his offered him a role of a second villain and he accepted it. He played his role very proficiently. Sanjay never begged or asked for anything, not even marketing of his work. He just followed his passion and success followed him.
Sanjay loves Hyderabad than any other place in the world. He believes that, “I am in the learning stage, every day I learn something new but I fail to understand why I am given a doctor’s role in most of the films, even Stalin.” Sanjay mentioned a bitter truth in his interview to me, that when you follow your passion, relationships are always on the rocks. Implies, either you compromise with your passion or fulfil the rational or irrational demands of your loved ones, choice is always yours.
This veteran actor and photographer has inspired me completely to lead a life with passion and no compromises, I hope the story would inspire you too. I am sure, that his father must have understood that this boy didn’t brought any bad name to the family but added glories to the name of Raichuras.
His Philosophy of life, - "Give not all, that you become a beggar by it.....!
Take not all, that  you get burried in it...!"

Again, this story made me feel that parents who are the building blocks for shaping the future of any child should support them. Don’t force your expectations or capabilities on your child. Respect his or identity, and let them live, let them fly….Check the link below for my book Innocent Wings, and do read, like and share the blog and the book too.

Success stories: A series of life n struggle stories of passionate people

I strongly believe that we are born for a reason, a reason to bring a change. The change could be within or in our environment. But we are born not just to live a life but to lead a life.
With this strong thought of mine, I felt that there are so many successful people I am meeting these days, who have followed their heart and passion above all. The success stories of these people could be an inspiration to many. If these stories could inspire atleast one individual to achieve his or her desired goals, then the reason for writing the series will be accomplished.

My journey of an author began in the year 2017, and God! from this ver year my idea of seeing life has totally changed. I met so many inspiring people who have followed their passion beyond anything else, be it studies, family, love anything. These stories are so powerful that it would inspire the readers too. It will help my readers to build the confidence of following their heart. If you are willing to join me in my this series of blogs, just click on like and share, so that it boost up my morale too.
The wait is almost over, and I would be sharing my first success story from the day of love...14th Feb.

Why are my efforts going null with my child?

Hello all,

So sorry that I took quite some time in coming up with my second blog talking about the progress of our children. In the past one month I have been to various events for the launch and disscussion on the book #Innocent wings. It wasnt very surprising to feel the concern of the parents about children. The parents inquired so many queries to me, and most common of all was:

Q: I did so much of efforts on my child, but still I dont see any progress. May I know where am I going wrong?

So, why not lets discuss the secrets of working with your child and seeing them succeeding. Believe me, when we as parents see our children succeed, there is no other happiness compared to this. But, what success means to a parent.

1. How do you analyse success of your child?

Yeah, this is important to understand that how do you measure the sucess of your child.  It implies, you look for higher grades, or trophies or compare it to your peers. I must say it is important to keep a check on the improvement of child but dont measure atleast not in the above mentioned ways. They are temporary. The way you should check the improvement should be the changes you notice in your child. like
- If he or she is happier than before.
- whether the level of confidence has increased or not
-whether the child is performing better (even by a half mark) in his or her exams. The understanding level should be tested.
The performance should be checked and not compared.

2. Do you trust your child?

Trust is very important. I have got various queries of parents regarding that they dont any improvement in their child even after spending a lot of time, energy and money.
Hmmm! this happens, we lose patience when we dont see desired results, but in case of children, actually we dont have the right to lose patience and hopes. If things dont work well in one direction and try other ways but dont lose hopes.
So I was talking about trust. Yes! its the prime essence which will give you, your desired results. Trust your child, believe in his or her capabilities and patiently work on them. Encourage for even smallest of the achievement, like if the child used to write 5 words daily, and today he or she wrote 6 or more, encourage. Encourage your child for the slightest of the achievement this will boost their confidence and they try to do more and more, slowly and steadily. But, trust them first.

3. How much pressure you put on the child?

We are the parents of 21st century, which very fast and competitive. None has the time, and to fulfill the requirements we have to put pressure and force. But, dont apply this theory on your kids. Slow down, for their fast improvements. If you know something in mathematics, and you assume that child would also know the same, how is that possible. Give your patience, if your child is not in a mood to study, dont pressurize. Give them time to settle and then come back to study on their own with full energy. It doesnt matters if he or she dont study as per the schedule made by you. A child should study as per willingness.
You want your child to learn, and learning could happen willingly, forcefully its just time pass.

I hope these three crucial points would help you in working  with your child. My book Innocent Wings has real life cases that are beng discussed, like how those children who were being considered hopeless by society are doing better than the best.

Book Review: Until Love Sets Us Apart

Title: Until Love Sets Us Apart
Author: Aditya Nighot
Publisher: Finger Print
Genre: Romance Fiction

Blurb: Aisha and Rohit are like chalk and cheese. While Rohit is completely aimless and imperfect, Aisha is focussed and a perfectionist. Just two opposites. But dont they say opposites attract?
He loves her... She loves him. Their wedding is on the cards but their love is put to the test when an unforseen incident hits their lives.
ULSUA, is inspired from real-life incidents, is a an awar winning novel of the year.

My Views: The story starts from a medical college, when a group of few friends, including the author gets involved in the investigation of murders happening in the city. The accused was one of their seniors. The young author tries to investigate what has made a doctor into a criminal.
The story revolves around the protagonst Aisha and Rohit and their cheesy and perfect love story. Everything seemed perfect until that incident happened.
To know more about it, must read ULSUA by Aditya Nighot. Its an engaging love story, involves love, romance, fun, thriller, and suspense. I recommend it to all fiction lovers, a must read.

I give ***** to the book. Cover page is beautiful, and title is apt with the story.

Know More about Dyslexia or learning disabilities in children

Do I need to panic, if my child has learning disabilities?
If you are thinking that am going to review my own book, then I must clear, no. I am not going to review my own book, that is the job of a reader. But, getting so many queries from people across India and even abroad about dyslexia, I thought it becomes my duty to write or clear the queries about learning disabilities in children, because of my thorough practical research on this.
Lets start from the begining, that is most of the parents dont know or haven't heard the term Dyslexia or dyscalculacia or dysgraphia etc., before they got their child assessed. The parents get panicked when they come to about any such issue in their child.
I am not going to surf any website to write this series of blogs about dyslexia. Whatever I am going to talk here are my personal experiences. So, first of all dont panic.
But, wait before getting the child assesed what have you done? At what age are you assessing the child? Have you taken his or her learning disabilities seriously, before assessments?
These are a few questions which a parent must ask to themselves. If your child is not performing upto to the mark, there is a problem. There is definitely a problem and tuitions are not the solution. The best teacher of a child is his or her mother. She is the first one to understand if the child needs help. Learning diasability of any kind is not a disease. Its just that we are different and the list of benchmarks prepared by us are not the benchmark of development. In the list we include:
a...good marks
b...good looks
c... good in sports
d... manneres etc etc etc
Who prepared these and for whom? First and foremost thing is the happiness of your child. See, if he or she is happy. Is there is anything which is disturbing them, because of which they are unable to perform well? Find out. A parent, and most importantly a mother has to be alert, when it comes to her children. You cannot shed away your responsibility if child needs help. No one else in the world except you, can help your child. Fortunately, now there are people to assist and guide you, but the first step has to be taken by you.
Mind my words, an alert parent raises a successful adult of the future. Their tomorow is dependent on you.
Okay, If you are ready to accept that the child needs help, get him or her assessed and evaluated. Based on the assessment report and suggestion of the psychologist start the intervention. The early is always better. Trust me things could be sorted out, if you as a parent take the pledge to stand beside child, unconditionally.
There is no need to panic, if child is having any learning disabilities. Everything could be sorted out, if you believe and trust your child.
This much in this blog, I ll be signing out now. If you want to know anything more about on this subject, do let me know. My contact links are mentioned below. I will try to answer each and every query. Just keep loving your children, they are the most precious of the God.
My book Innocent Wings would answer many of your queries with real life case studies.
