-Evolution

I recently dug out a story that had been sitting on my hard drive for a couple of years. Unfinished, unpolished, with a pile of notes across it, it still keeps calling me back to it. It's part of an overall larger metaphysical anthology I've been working on, and... hang on, that sounded unbelievably pretentious. Is there a way to rephrase that? There is? Oh good. Here it is, then:

Obviously I'm a big fan of the Planescape-style setting, places where belief is born into flesh and creatures of u...

5th Edition?

I'm eager to see what the design team on 5E puts together. In addition to being fantastic people (seriously, Monte, Bruce, and Miranda have been nothing short of wonderful in the years I've known them, and Rob Schwalb struck me as incredibly generous - and this at the tail end of Gen Con!), this really is a design dream team.

Naturally, the frothing-rage contingent of the internet will never be happy with what they put together, but then that's the same contingent that indulges in the never-e...

Hey, Ads!

That's "ads" up there, just in case you wanted to add an extra letter or something. That is to say, I'm using the Gamerati service (found here: http://gamerati.com/ads/) to run some ads in a variety of places.

They all lead to the Amazon page (conveniently found here: http://www.amazon.com/Oathbreaker-Book-Knights-Tale-ebook/dp/B006IVFWWQ), because that's where the majority of sales come from, and I intend to keep feeding that cycle. However, if you're on a Nook, you can (and should!) find yo...

Of all the...

One might think that I would be all over the release of Oathbreaker's first book on my website, just plugging this book like there's no tomorrow.

And indeed, I have been plugging. Just not here. And also like there are many tomorrows. That is to say, I have been focusing on other things, rather than promoting this book (I am looking at you, Arkham City) (I am also looking at you, day job), and I need to say this:

I am proud of this baby. I am extraordinarily proud of this baby. (that last sente...

The Time is almost upon us

"The Knight's Tale" is back to wunderkind editor Ray Vallese, who is (at least in theory) hard, hard at work on providing the finishing touches. Once that's done, it's headed over to Guido Henkel, who will work more magic on it and turn it into a book that you can actually read on your electronic devices. This book will, assuming no major explosions, be available to you for the Christmas/Hanukkah/Festivus shopping season. I apologize for missing Eid al-Fitr and Diwali (but not to the follower...

Kickstarter Launched

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/3lbgames/oathbreaker-the-knights-tale-fantasy-by-colin-mcco

And we're off! I'm launching a $1,500 Kickstarter project to help pay for the artist (the excellent Stone Perales) and my editor (the inimitable Ray Vallese [can editors be inimitable?]). Funding ends in, oh, a month, so now is definitely the time to get in on that action.

And, I should mention, many thanks ahead of time.

NanoFiction Friday

All of our stories are ultimately the same. We are born. We live. We die. The rest is detail. Some people make choices that make them wealthy. Some make choices that make them poor. And some make choices that call for punishment. Delivering it is my job.
I have lost track of those I have killed. I used to have nightmares. But after a while, the eyes of the dead blur together. The job becomes standardized, routinized, boring. I give them their final words, and if I seem cold and distant from t...

Ahem

Is there a cliché more clichéd than starting a blog and letting it wither? I think not. Fortunately, as this is my site I don't have to apologize for it, and so I won't. What I will say is that in the last... ahem... two years... a number of things have changed.

I've been working on a board game for iPad. Paizo has published a bunch of my work. I've taught at the International Academy of Design and Technology in Troy, imparting (man, is that a snooty word!) my precious, hard-won, vastly influe...
