Author Q&A About Echoes

Interviewer: So there’s still a lot of questions that haven’t been answered for us in Echoes. Is there going to be another book?
Miranda: Yes, there is. The sequel is scheduled to release sometime in Fall, 2018. It has been planned out for some years now; actually, its plot was the original plot I came up with for Emma and Natan, before I realized there was too much backstory to cram into the beginning of that book. I needed to write this novel – Echoes – to explain how it was they were thrown together and show what Emma’s character and convictions are.
Interviewer: Can you give us any hints as to what will be in the sequel?
Miranda: Certainly. There’s going to be a lot in the sequel. While Echoes was all about Emma’s self-discovery and her learning to accept and understand her own emotions – and get a greater control over her innermost struggles – the sequel has a more plot-driven feel to it. This original work was for the explicit purpose of giving Emma’s state of mind and showing how she learned to control her hurricane by giving it a better goal – one to protect Natan. I’ve had a few people complain that the book wasn’t action-packed enough for them. Well, those people will be happy to know that the sequel is going to have a lot more plot-driven moments.
Interviewer: What about for those who liked the style of this one – the quieter, more contemporary, poetical feel? Do you think they’ll be disappointed in the sequel then?
Miranda: Definitely not. While I will be adding in a new point of view – possibly two *hint hint* – Emma’s will still be the main one through it. That is, her scattered, comparison-filled thoughts will still be most represented. That being said, she might be a little different than anyone expects, too.
Interviewer: Let’s touch on a few of those points (*secretly trying to get more hints*): Can you tell us whose point of view might be taking up residence beside Emma’s? Is it anyone we know?
Miranda: While I’m trying to keep the main details about the book a secret for now, I will disclose that Emma’s biological family – particularly two members of her family who we already met briefly in book one – will be much more prominent in the sequel.
Interviewer: (*Secretly hopes that means Daniel gets a point of view*) Alright, so there’s one thing that’s confused me: Tasha – that super random redhead who was there for two chapters. What was up with that?
Miranda: (*Grins knowingly*) All I’ll say is that she’s extremely important in the sequel, which is the reason for her cameo appearance here. And I’ll add that her presence was necessary because of Daniel’s character and some fundamental facts of his life. Daniel is never far from Tasha and Tasha is never far from Daniel. Their involvement and relationship with Emma is rather important, which will be touched on a lot more in the sequel.
Interviewer: Last one before you go: Emma’s “weapon” – how exactly does that work?
Miranda: It’s not a superpower type of thing, and that’s all I’ll say on it. The sequel will reveal all.

Alright. Thank you for your time, Miranda. Can’t wait to see where the sequel takes us!
