How to Get your Book into the Library

Is there anything better than leaving the library with a bigol’ stack of reading material? Free books, so magical! As a reader, I love the library. As an author, I was unsure how to get my book into the system. I knew I wanted to make it available to check out, but how?

In July, I attended a presentation at the Pacific Northwest Writer’s Association conference that answered this question for me! Differentlibraries have slightly different ways of doing things, but there are basically two track...

Update on Sunburner (Plus Some Editing Insights)

I’ve been posting a lot about reading and books lately because I’ve been indulging in some summer reading. But that’s not all I’ve been up to! I’m now working on my second big edit of Sunburner, the sequel to my debut novel, Moonburner.

Some SneakPeaks of Sunburner:

BOOK REVIEW: Rebel of the Sands, by Alwyn Hamilton

Check out my review of Rebel of the Sands on the YAshelf.com, reprinted below!

This YA fantasy book sweeps you away to a dark mystical landscape full of shifting sand, nightmare monsters, and fantastical tales. Amani lives in Dustwalk, a backward desert town on the edg...

BOOK REVIEW: Truthwitch, by Susan Dennard

Truthwitch is a fast-paced fantasy featuring the daring adventures of two best friends. Think Thelma and Louise meets Jason Bournemeets Lord of the Rings!

The story features Safiya and Iseult, two bad-ass chicks with dangerous magical abilities. High-born Safiya is a truthwitch, a rare gift that helps her tell truth from lies, and would make her a valuable asset for any king or noble. Iseult, her BFF, isa Nomatsi threadwitch, Nomatsi being a group that is hated by most of society (I think the...

This is the One Bookish App you Must Be On!

Have you heard of Litsy? No? Well let me gush about it. Likened to the baby of Instagram and Goodreads, Litsy is a newcomer to the social networkscene (only available oniOS currently, sorry!). It is the app for book-lovers and frequent readers!

It’s pretty simple. You can do three things when it comes to a book you read: post a Quote from the book, write a Blurb about the book, or Review the book.
