When technology fails, what will save us?

By Tabi Slick

It's amazing how much we now rely on technology. From the music we listen to, to the conversations we have on a daily basis, chances are technology is involved in some way.

Even now I feel myself itching to grab my phone and check the notification I just received. But recently I found myself in an entirely different country with a limited vocabulary, a cellphone without data, and an opportunity to learn a very valuable lesson.
Sometimes I rely on my phone a little bit too much...

Writing Goals & Tips for Camp NaNoWriMo 2019

Are you ready for Camp NaNoWriMo? I just got back from a month of traveling and now today is the first day of Camp NaNoWriMo and I'm feeling jet legged!

I had a book festival four hours away at the beginning of March, followed by a lovely vacation to southern Germany which we just got back from last Wednesday. Then 24 hours after we arrived my husband and I hopped in a car and road tripped with his cousins to Missouri for his grandma's 90th birthday.

We got back late last night and now begins t...

February's Bookish Digest: Cold Weather Means Cozy Mysteries

Hi!How's everything going? I hope you're doing great and that you've been enjoying this February weather. I know I am! In Texas sometimes it's hot, other times it's cold but either way I've made it a goal to be more active and have fun doing it!

I've attached a photo here as proof. I'm terrible at rollerblading, but it's still fun! I've also been learning how to unicycle, although my dog Dexter doesn't seem to trust one wheeled objects.I've also been working on my blog, Youtube channel, writin...

Build Strong Characters in 5 Steps

One of the first bits of professional feedback I received about my writing was in regards to characterization. Now, in the beginning I thought “how complicated can that be, right? I’ve got solid characters, they’ve got attitude. How much more characterization could my characters get?”

Well, it turns out I had a lot to learn and I'm sharing my findings so that you don't have to go through the struggles I went through (and save some moolah) in learning this important lesson.
The thing about chara...

Review of Fido and Fendi by Adaline Chase

Fido and Fendi is a cozy mystery about a fashionista turned sleuth named Erin Summers who is wrongfully accused of murder by her cheating ex boyfriend's new girl and has the whole town hating her. Will she be able to solve the murder, clear her name, and juggle all of this on top of her new job as a dog walker?

At the beginning Erin Summers seems a bit one dimensional. She only wears designers, she doesn’t really care to get to know anyone, she just wants to do everything she can to get her bo...
