Review of The Killing Hour by Lisa Gardner

I might not be a huge fan of horror, but I do enjoy a good mystery. I love the twists and turns an author gives to send you one way in your thinking before you spin on a dime and head in a new direction. I love not knowing who the "bad guy" is until the end. I love putting all of the pieces together and seeing how the professionals, police, and amateur detectives make the connections. It's exciting, harrowing, and unexpected.

I mean, don't even get me started with my obsession for Veronica Mar...

The Horror! Peripheral Vision by Timothy Hammer and Courtney Zito

Do you ever get the feeling, at times, that you have jumped out of the fire and into the frying pan?
Well, you're not alone.
Last week, I shared my new appreciation for Author Mary Downing Hahn and reviewed her urban legend based book, Took. This week, I'm taking on an even greater step into the world of horror and vampires with Timothy Hammer and Courtney Zito's book, Peripheral Vision.

This supernatural thriller is living up to its name of pure spookiness, and I'm afraid to even dive into this...

Took by Mary Downing Hahn

As you may know, if you know me at all, I'm not a fan of scary stories. I'm not into horror books or movies. Trying to watch a spooky movie usually ends badly.
Nightmares abound.

Nope, nope, nope, nope.

So, when my best friend mentioned Mary Downing Hahn as an excellent storyteller, I was intrigued.

"Tell me more," I said.

"She's a young adult writer who specializes in ghost stories," she explained.

Nope, nope, nope, nope.

Yeah. That was my immediate inner reply. I can appreciate the fact that Hahn...

Living Isn't for the Weak: Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis

It's constantly amazing to me to read a book about someone else's life or personal insights and have an ephiphany moment of saying, "That sounds like me!" It happens with fictional characters, who are the product of their writer's life and imagination, as well as those real flesh and blood humans walking around and trying to live their best life. I'm astounded at how easy it is to relate to others and feel a soft, warm glow inside at connecting with another being.

After all, I think the argume...

Embrace Who You Are: The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown

Do you ever have those days where you just feel trapped? That annoying sensation of not knowing where to go next or what to do? By chance, do you battle with anxiety, perfectionism, or OCD tendicies on top of it? How about feeling as if you're never enough?

According to an article in 2016's Parent24, 70% of girls feel as if they're "not enough." It's not just girls who struggle with self-image, as seen on the website notgoodenough.com and a 2012 article written by Kristen W. At least 90% of...

Would You Like To Be On My ARC Team?

What is an ARC reader, you ask?
An ARC is someone who obtains a prepublished, free paperback or ebook copy (known as an Advanced Reader copy; aka ARC) of The Battle and reads it within a certain given period. Readers are given the opportunity to share their review of the book through Amazon, Goodreads, Bookbub, blogs, and other social media sites. Authors are grateful to anyone who takes the time to read and share their thoughts on the story.
If you are interested in being given...

Thanks, Betas!!!

THANK YOU, BETA-READERS!!!I can't say thank you enough to my Betas for all of their support, encouragement, feedback, suggestions, constructive criticism, and kindness.
It was a blast learning from each of the Betas and getting their perspective on how to make each chapter of The Battle even better.
The critiques they gave me were wonderful, and I can't appreciate being compared to savvy, magnificent authors such as Nicholas Sparks and George R. R. Martin enough. Betas have shared su...

Rebel in the Making

Welcome, Fellow Rebel. Even as we speak, I'm enjoying a cherry Jolly Rancher and listening to some German music. A friend of mine introduced me to a German rock band, AnnenMayKantereit, that his brother listened to while taking language classes through school. I have to say, I'm really loving them. How nice is it when you can appreciate other people and artistic endeavors even when you can't understand everything they're saying.
I mean, I looked up the lyrics and the translation of said lyrics...

If At First You Don't Succeed

I started the year of 2018 with a goal. I was going to read 100 books. I was excited. There are so many books I've wanted to read and have stacked across my room. I'm in the middle of five books. They're all WWII related, and I'm enjoying them, but I can't hurry through them since I'm reading them for research. You can understand my conundrum.
However, I failed my Goodreads Goal of 100 books for 2018.
I was disappointed in my failure. Reading is my happy place. See:
However, I...

Cover Reveal For The Battle Is Here!

Hey, Readers!

Thanks for sticking with me throughout my writing journey! I really appreciate your support, reviews, emails, and social media shares. You've all been wonderful, and I want to thank you for continuing with me as I create a whole new series.

The Battle has been a passionate and inspiring story for me to tell, and I've been working with some of the very best alpha and beta readers to make it the greatest story I can. Their feedback has been invaluable, and I've loved sh...
