Why I changed my heroine’s name

When dinosaurs roamed the earth… okay, it wasn’t that long ago.
I wrote a character named Isis.
Yes, Isis.
Then the world changed.
And my poor heroine was named Isis. Her book was called Reclaiming Isis. And I never could get over the ‘ick’ factor of it all.
I debated changing her name many times.
Recently a writer friend said “why don’t you change her name to Iris?”
A massive lightbulb went off over my head.
I love the name Iris. And it’s so close to Isis it seemed like the ‘ahah’ of all ‘ahahs.’
So that’s where we are.
Isis has become Iris.
I’m in the process of updating all references on my website, in the books, on the cover, in the backmatter. And then it’ll be off to update it everywhere I can on amazon, goodreads, etc.
It’s a lot of work, but I feel good about the decision.
If you see a reference to Isis out there where it should now be Iris, let me know, won’t you?
Thanks for understanding. Sorry for the confusion.

How long to leave a price for a BookBub Ad
I’ve seen this question several times recently.
How long should I leave my promotion price for a BookBub ad?
Which got me thinking about how I read BookBub newsletters. I usually read them the day after they hit my inbox. Or the day after that.
With that in mind, I’d be tempted to leave my promo price up for at least three days. Promo day + 2.
Just my $.02.

Have you read Fangs, Fur & Mistletoe yet?
Here’s one of my favorite “clips” from the book:
“Need,” he growled against her throat.
“Take,” she whispered back.
His response was swift. The bark of the palm tree dug into her shoulders as his hands gathered the material of her dress. She slid her hands up his torso and hooked them over his shoulders, ready for the ride of a lifetime.

Which supernatural power do you want?

As paranormal romance authors, we spend a lot of time thinking and writing about all sorts of powers and abilities.
Like, probably more than we’d like to admit.
So, just for kicks, we thought we’d share which paranormal abilities we’d love to have!
Question: If you could have the abilities of any paranormal creature (vampire, werewolf, witch, dragon, etc.), what would you choose and why?
So, as much as I love vampires, I’d have to go with having magic on this one.
I think I’d be a very boring witch, though. I’d be using my powers to do everyday tasks. Dishes? Done. Laundry? Handled. Forgot to grab milk at the grocery store? No worries! It’s in the fridge.
Thankfully, the characters in my stories are much more adventurous than I am!
Submitted by L. Danvers, Author of Blood Heirs
I love werewolves but I think I’d have to be a witch. I have a fairly sassy personality so I think it’d be great fun to tease people with my powers. And if I can get the mop to clean the house without me, all the better!
Submitted by Selena Blake, Author of Ready & Willing
My favorite shifters are wolves, but I would love to have psychic abilities. Telekinesis, clairvoyance, astral projection, energy manipulation, any or all of those.
Submitted by Erin St. Charles, Author of Close Enough to Love
I love my PNR characters. I write about shifters (cat-shifters and wolf-shifters) and vampires. But if I could chose to be anything, I would probably pick witch. I am a huge fan of Charmed (the original), and even though Paige was half whitelighter, I wish I could orb. Oh, the time I would save. Plus, telekinesis would be awesome too.
Submitted by R.L. Kenderson, Author of Forbidden Blood (Forbidden #1)
I’d choose to be a dragon because they can fly, have pretty scaled armor, breathe fire and hoard books. (Dragons don’t really need gold or gems…they are lumpy and cold to sleep on.)
Submitted by Beth Caudill, Paranormal Romance Author
Okay, I would love to be a powerful witch who can cast spells. I would love to be able to do things like move things without touching them, teleport or even fly.
Submitted by Alicia Montgomery, Author of The Last Blackstone Dragon
I’d choose to be one of the vampires in my world. Mortal beings with long lives (think of all the history they get to witness) and the ability to travel miles in seconds via the space between dimensions. Who needs sunlight?
Submitted by Miranda Jameson, Author of Berlin Nocturne
I would love to be something that could fly. I can’t really picture myself as a dragon, but maybe some kind of falcon or hawk shifter would be cool! Having other powers is tempting, too–like the longevity of vampires, and the magical powers of witches. Maybe I could be one of those hybrid species that gets the best of everything.

Available Now – Second Chance with Her SEAL
I can’t believe it’s that time again.
Release day.
Depending on who you ask, release day strikes anxiety directly into the heart of the author. Like a really sharp arrow. Or, they could be all excited, dancing in fields of flowers and spouting sonnets.
I’m feeling a little of both today.
It’s been a while since I had a new release.
I feel rusty. I feel anxious. I feel forgetful and tired and anxious. Did I mention anxious?
I’m also excited.
Boomer and Sabrina are two characters who taught me a lot. It took a while to write their book for many reasons, but one was that they have suffered so much. These two people have known tremendous loss and pain.
But they’re strong.
And Sabrina is the sweetest optimist. She’s a survivor. More than that, she’s worked her ass of to thrive.
I want to be here when I grow up.
And I totally get why she wants a second chance with her childhood bestie.
He’s pretty spectacular himself.
She’s willing to do anything for a second chance.
Anywho… read it. Be prepared to cry, to be inspired, and douse yourself with ice water.
ABOUT Second Chance with Her SEAL
David “Boomer” Jameson knows heartbreak all too well. As a child, his sun had risen and set with Sabrina Duncan. But fifteen years ago, she broke his heart after a single date.
A chance meeting sets off fireworks between them and now it’s Sabrina chasing him. She’ll do whatever it takes to earn a second chance.
There’s no way he’s letting her break his heart a second time. But that doesn’t mean he won’t claim her delicious body for his ultimate satisfaction.

There’s a tiny hiccup at the printer so we’re looking at mid September, friends. But it’s on the way. I promise!
