One Teen Story

Dear Writer,

We’ve gotten some inquiries about the kinds of stories (and writers) One Teen Story is looking for, so I’m writing today to let you know exactly that.

One Teen Story, One Story’s sibling publication for readers of young adult fiction, comes out once a month and publishes both adult and teen writers.

One Teen Story is looking for:

Stories written for readers ages 13-99 who enjoy young adult fiction
Stories that deal with the teen experience (issues of identity, friendship, family, coming-of-age, etc.)
Stories that have a main character who is a teen (13-19)
Stories between 2,000 and 4,500 words
Stories that have a beginning, middle, and end
One Teen Story is not looking for:

Poems, memoirs, or essays
Novel excerpts that feel more like chapters than short stories
Gratuitous profanity, sex, drug use, violence (keep in mind, our youngest readers are 13)
Please double-space all submissions. Please include your contact information on the first page. And please include page numbers. If you have any questions concerning your submission, please email custserv@oneteenstory.com.

Cheers,

Patrick Ryan
Editor, One Teen Story

PS: If you’ve already been published in One Story, you are still eligible to be published in One Teen Story!

The illustrator of my favourite picture book at the moment (Sam and Dave Dig  A Hole) has a beautiful piece here.

Giveaway Contest: We’re giving away ten vintage classics by some of the greatest female authors and poets of all time, including Ayn Rand, Emily Dickinson, Maya Angelou, Sylvia Plath, Jane Austen, and others. Won’t these look lovely on your shelf? :D

To win these classics,
you must: 1) reblog this post and 2) be following macrolit. (Yes, I
will check. :P) We will randomly choose a winner on December 15, at which
time we’ll start a new giveaway. And yes, we’ll ship to any country. Easy,
right? Good luck!

We’re choosing a random winner a week from today, so reblog now! Remember you can reblog up to five times, but please don’t spam your followers by doing it five times in a row. :) Good luck!
