d178c5e3db63710b3c9062329836c33d

http://rootwordsalliance.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Happy.m4a

Often in this busy world we have many distractions. We can loose focus on ourselves. We can loose our inner happiness. Nearly 20% of Americans experience some form of depression in there lifetime. Many people spend their lives waiting for happiness. Happiness is not something that just happens, it needs to be pursued. Improving your quality of life is great way to start. Remember to love yourself, forgive yourself, and treasure yourself.

Nature is a great way to connect. Being outdoors can relieve depression and negativity.Nature has a way of boosting our serotonin levels which is a part of the brain that is responsible for empathy, emotional wellness, and love. Get outdoors.
Regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health.  No matter your age or disability.
Writing things down can do wonders for your health. It can get you thinking. Think about journaling 15 to 20 minutes a day.
Make a list of thing that make you happy and set a goal to do them.
Drink more water.
Reading can help reduce stress. Expanding your knowledge by learning improves your memory.
Acknowledge we are all human and make mistakes. It takes a lot of energy to hate someone. Holding a grudge has power over you.
We learn to interact and connect with people. Expand the circle of your world. Socialize more.
Be thankful. Be ready to show appreciation in your life.
What you feed your body matters.

Have a Great Day!

Guest Blogger Janet K. Brown on weight loss

Emotional Healing in Christ

If you have a fever, you contact a doctor to determine the cause.

If you’re addicted to drugs, you know you need counseling, healing, and help to get to the root of your problem.

If you overeat, you need to buckle down and exert more will power.

Gluttony is the accepted sin of the church. We tease each other at pot lucks, we excuse our overeating, and we treat our troubles as no interference in our Christian walk. A survey done at Baylor University shows that the growth of obesity in America is greater in evangelical churches than it is in the general population.

Compulsive overeating is a symptom with an underlying problem that needs healing like any other addiction. For years, my life was ruled by emotional outbursts, compulsive overeating, and low self worth. Like Lacey in Worth Her Weight, I came close to suicide. My marriage strained at the seams. My life loomed empty and joyless. I believed my husband and daughters would be better off without me. After God healed me emotionally, I lost a hundred pounds, quit biting my nails, and my entire personality changed.

Though different, Lacey reflects some of my same struggles. I pray it will touch the compulsive overeater out there and heal the wound that festers. My message is—with God, there is hope.

How can a woman who gives to everyone but herself accept God’s love and healing when she believes she’s fat, unworthy, and unfixable?

Financial Stress

Financial Stress

Would improving your financial situation be helpful to you? Are you stressed about money? Do you worry on payday? Do you forget to pay a bill or two?

Today we will discuss stress and how setting financial goals might help relieve stress.

First, we must recognize that the is a problem and set a goal or a plan in place.

The average American household credit card debt in 2016 is $5,700. Total outstanding U.S.Consumber debt is 3.4 trillion dollars. 38.1 % of all householda in the U.S. carry some sort of credit card debt according to http://www.valuepenguin.com/average-credit-card-debt.

The number one conflict in relationships is Money. The reasons are influence, security and respect.

Today, on the blog we will discuss setting goals and making better choices.

I have a few examples to look at, but plan your own. Discover what is right for your family.

The plan:

Be a good steward of my money.

Create a personal budget. Make sure I write all my expenses down. Assess my strengths and weakness with spending, earning and giving money. Evaluate my expenses. There may be savings on home, auto, health insurance. Be sure to look at each section. Travel, entertainment, groceries, pet food, better interest rates, and utilities. Keep your financial matters off social media.

Set goals:

Set goals and track your progress. Participate in small rewards at the end of each month.

Take time to decide on big ticket items. The best situation is to wait a week. If I still want the item in a week, wait two more days.

Do you ask for help? Sometime labor costs are the most expensive in home projects. There are many DIY. Ask people in your life to help.

You can make home improvements for $100 or less with help in labor costs.  Painting, Laying tile, restoring bathtubs, changing your oil, replaces hoses, replacing filters, wall paper, plant trees, replace lighting and build a bookcase or cubbies.

OUR KITCHEN PROJECTS.

DIY tile on the floor Kitchen Project 1 $125

DIY painting the cabinets and reusing old hardware. Project 2 $50

DIY Marble Tile Counter Top Project 3 $125

DIY BackSplash DIY Project 4 $200

We saved money for one project at a time. We asked for gift cards for birthdays and Christmas and special events. We paid for most of this work with the money we saved and gift cards.

I encourage you to watch DIY Videos on YouTube. It will save money and improve your confidence by trying it yourself.

Goal: Save money by eating at home and planting a small garden. Gardening is great stress reliever and it costs less than $25 to set up.

Goal: Protect myself from fraud. Change passwords regularly.

Goal: Create an emergency fund. Learn to save money. Start with $1000. Build to 3 months income.

Goal: Donate time. Not money.

Goal: Make a  Dream Board.

Goal: Better communications with people around me about my financial situation.  Include Spouse, children, and parents.

Discover your spending habits.  Do I buy more than I need? Am I a consumer that buys while standing in line? Do I buy more toys than my child/children can play with?

Goal: I will collect every receipt for the month and see where you spend extra. Organize your receipts.

Goal: I will participate in my role as a consumer. I will open my mail and look for late fees or interest charges. Look closely.

Goal: I will check your bank statements and online banking for inconsistency.

Goal: Educate yourself on financial matters. There are many people struggling with money matters. You are not alone. Review and protect your credit score. Learn to save money. Learn good money habits.

Goal: Get a handle on student loan debt.

Goal: Checking my FICA score and making improvements.

Goal: Open a 401K retirement at work and let your employer match your money.

Set some milestones. Five years from now, ten years and so on.

Implement your goals: What goals can I start today that will help relieve financial stress?

Evaluate your goals, communicate your overall impression. How can you improve? Can you add another goal? How much money can you save in one month?

If you don’t tackle these goals your financial stress just might tackle you.

If you think this might help you let me know on my contact page.

I am Orlando!

Greetings Friends, Family and Community,

The LGBT Community sees June as a month of Pride celebrations.

As we gather in #prayer vigils across our country. We are not gathering in celebration but mourning our family and friends. Today, Tonight and Tomorrow and the months to come, we stand together as one human family. This is not only a sad day for the #LGBT community but a sad day for #Humanity.

Yesterday was a heartbreaking horror as we all watched the news coming from #Orlando.

Today we acknowledge our anger, fear, shock and numbness.

We have choices.

We can choose to connect, empower and heal; or we can choose to HIDE in the shadows of darkness.

Connection means knowing the people in your community and taking care of each other. It’s simple. Look around. This is our neighborhood.

Don’t loose faith in humanity. Today we are one heart beating for change.

We will not and must not let Sundays heinous crime define our communities.

I encourage you to ask for help. Ask your friends, your neighbors, and your community.

This is a reminder to be more compassionate and caring towards others. Remember all life is precious.

Today WE STAND FOR LOVE!

I have decided to offer my #ebook for #FREE starting tomorrow for those who are struggling with mental illness. If you know anyone; family, friends, neighbors, co workers, communities. Download the book. It’s for anyone suffering.

It will be available for 5 days for FREE. Today We Stand for Love.

Annual Arkansas Writer’s Conference , Little Rock June 3-4

I will be attending the Arkansas Writer’s Conference in Little Rock this year on June 3-4.

I will be pitching an idea for a wellness journal.  This is a collaboration project with a friend. We feel with the crisis on wellness in our country we need a journal/calendar that will help develop our practice of healthy living. My state of Oklahoma is in the worst budget cuts its seen in many years.

Stop by and see me at the Meet the Authors (Open to the Public) Crowne Plaza Hotel 201 S. Shackleford Road Little Rock, Arkansas

Oklahoma Writers Federation Inc Conference 2016

I had some anxiety entering the conference for the first time as I saw the parking lot was bursting to its limit of cars. I found my way to registration and I spoke my name and the man at desk greeted me with a smile as big as the Eiffel tower. He handed me a book and my lanyard with my name on it.

Knowledge is power I told myself as I found a place around the corner to slow my palpitating heart.

I opened the booklet to find a compass to following my dreams.

There were loads of writers at this conference and I was one of them.

“The greatest barrier to success is fear of failure.” Sven Goran Eriksson

I greet this day with love in my heart. A small prayer I often say to myself in honor of those around me.

I found my first session in room A. I opened the door softly not to disturb the attendees already gathered in this space. I found my seat in the back of the room. I unzipped my black backpack that carried my supplies and peacefully rested my notebook on the table. With pen in my hand and my confidence on fire, I began my first OWFI conference.

Here is one of the first questions I asked myself that first day.

What does it take to be a good writer?

Answers.Patience. Practice. Be kind to yourself. Build your skills.

Wake up the Wonder. Creative Characterization. Use Moral Dilemmas in your stories. Find supportive people who will not stand in your way.

I spoke with dozens of people following the same dream of doing what we love. I am grateful to have had this opportunity to learn. Writing offers me a space to explore my possibilities. I thought the conference was friendly and well organized. I give it 5 stars. I will return next year.

Series: Self Publishing Book Cover Designs Part 4 of 4

Series: Self Publishing Book Cover Designs Part 4 of 4

99 Designs

Step 13. Decide and pick a winner. Before you award the prize, make sure your designer is willing to work with you for free minor changes down the road as you get closer to publishing your book. I would make sure your designer is familiar with these sites before you select them. Most professional book cover designers will already know how to work with create space and kindle direct. If they don’t this is a red flag. If you feel confident get your final files from your designer. The great thing about 99designs you will always have access to the final work on this site.

To  Add your cover to createspace you  will need actual page numbers and you will not have this until your manuscript is done. I recommend you hire an editor freelancer from upwork. Mine cost .01 per word line edits. Total $350.00. I also hired someone for 75.00 freelancer from upwork to do the formatting & layout for createspace. After my book cover was finished it took less than six weeks to get my book published on amazon. I set milestones for the freelancers and gave a bonus if they finished early. Make sure you get them to sign a non disclosure agreement NDA because this is your work. If you go to amazon and look at the inside of my book. I decided to add my editors name because we both worked hard on the book product. You do not have to do this but I would recommend it. Every one needs a hand up sometimes. If you worked well together it can be a committed long term relationship.

Now its time to plan your launch party and market, market, market your product.
