Season’s Greetings! Cookies and a Post Magic Update
I know many of you are busy with holiday shopping and prep, so I’ll keep this letter short and sweet — I just wanted to make sure you all knew I have not forgotten you, and am wishing you a VERY HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON & FAE-TASTIC NEW YEAR!
I’ve been baking up storm, too — here is my kid’s favorite new recipe. They LOVE making the thumbprints and filling them with their favorite jams, and I love how healthy they are!
PB&J Thumbprints:
Ingredients:
1.5 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup peanut butter (smooth or chunky, you decide)
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup honey
1 TBS milk
Your favorite jelly or jam
Preheat Oven to 375F
Combine dry ingredients, then mix in PB & butter till mixture is crumbly
Stir in honey and milk
Shape into 1-inch balls and place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet
Make thumbprint indentation in center of each
Fill each imprint with jam (approximately 1/2 tsp)
Bake for 8-10 minutes, until set.
Cool and enjoy!
Need to take a good book to go with your cookies? Spring is a great time for a NEW STORY
Warm(ish) weather has returned to the Northeast and I am loving writing outside. We have set up a little tent complete with a gauzy rainbow curtain array that puts me into a relaxed contemplattive state of mind. I am working on an entirely new series set in a far-off magical place filled with witchy chimeras, grumpy feudal ladies, anarchists, miners, and one simple postal worker just trying to get by. Each book in the Post Magic series will be a stand-alone with its own mystery to solve.
I’ve also been working on a collection of short stories, and submitted a few to the prestigious Momaya Short Story competition. They only publish around 20 stories a year so fingers crossed — wish me luck! If you are a poetry dabbler, you might want to check out their new poetry competition, looks like more than 50 people will have a shot at publication each year, which is pretty great odds.
Post Magic is planned to release Summer 2018 – Read the first chapter now!

Wanna Choose My Next Cover?
For a writer, starting a new series is kind of like opening a present… But what to wrap it in?
Let’s talk covers.
My new fantasy series is going to be set on a distant planet that started as a mining colony and is still pretty wild and rough — imagine colonial United States with a bit more tech, lots of magic and a mixed population of regular humans and chimeras (descendents of the genetically modified miner settlers). Each book will be a stand-alone, a la Dresden Files or Nancy Drew. The covers could go in two very different directions. I’ve described my ideas in more detail and set up a poll on one of my blogs where fans can weigh in with their preferences. Head on over and let me know what you think!

Fae & Starseeds meet in a Fiery Clash! All Access BURNING Cover Reveal & Freebies from Ellis Logan
Like, we’re talking well below freezing here. Thank the gods for my new fleece Quidditch robe! Made from several yards of toasty fandom, it’s kept me warm working nightly on The Burning, the third installment of the Full Disclosure series. As many of you know, Ana has been soooo mad at Khai, she’s made some big mistakes. Now, she’s getting ready to right those wrongs. Things are really heating up! We’re planning on an early Spring release date — in the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at the new cover to warm you up.

Don’t you just love it?
“He told me to run.
I didn’t want to. I tried to help. But my powers failed, and he told me to run.
So gods help me, I did…”
Ana’s guilt and anger are destroying her sanity, burning from the inside out. Will she be able to pull it together and help save the people she loves?
I’m not telling!

New Year, New Plot
I’m just going to come right out and admit it. I’m a pantser. Outlines give me the heebie jeebies. That’s not to say I never have any idea where my novels are heading (sometimes I do). But my characters hold sway over my brain, dominion over my words. They make me write things I never saw coming, and my stories often take turns I never would have suspected.
But it’s a new year. I’m starting a new story. And tonight, I outlined. Not just a few notes for the next few chapters. Oh no. We’re talking scene by scene, chapter by chapter – the entire book has been plotted out before my very eyes. I cannot say with 100% certainty that my brain was not taken over y aliens during the process, or that my characters will agree to follow the plot all the way through. But it looks good. The outline even has some choice dialogue already keyed in. My fingers are itching to type and I’m ready to go.
If you’re one of my supporters on Patreon, you can expect to be reading Chapter One from The Burning (Book Three of Full Disclosure) any day now.
Are you ready?
I’m game.
Happy New Year,
Ellis
P.S. If you have any things you are dying to see happen in book three, or questions you are hoping I’ll address, send me a note and I’ll do my best to see it through!
