Sunrise on the porch. ☕️☀️ I’ve read a lot of books on this swing. Written quite a few chapters. Had both starlit and sun-filled conversations. ✨ I was sitting on this swing the first time I saw the cover mock ups for TQR & SISTERS. It’s a special corner of home to me, and I like to imagine the magic runs deep in such a place.

I have some news! My first fantasy novel for adults is going to...
I have some news! My first fantasy novel for adults is going to be published by Harper Voyager! A RIVER ENCHANTED is on schedule to be released in Spring 2022, with a sequel to follow. I can’t say too much about this book yet, but I’m very excited to embark on this adventure and work with my editor, Vedika Khanna! Here are a few things you can expect:

This weekend, my sweet friend @isabelwriter09 came up to Georgia...
This weekend, my sweet friend @isabelwriter09 came up to Georgia to stay with me and celebrate the release of SISTERS. Hosting her and Andrew and their adorable dog Piper has been one of the highlights of my year. And I’m so thankful that Isabel “Isabelled” me last year (she explains what that means in our coffee chat, which you can find in my IG TV). ✨

Last summer, our friendship bloomed when Isabel and I began to swap chapters. I was drafting my next book, as she was drafting hers, and every day we would send a chapter to each other. It held us both accountable to keep working, and the encouragement kept us moving forward. I watched my book grow right alongside hers, and even though they are two different stories, I feel as if our books are bound together in some magical way. ✨

Today is the day! 🌿 SISTERS OF SWORD & SONG is out in the wild, and even though this is my third published book, it feels a bit surreal to reach this moment. I thought I’d celebrate by sharing some fun behind-the-scenes facts about SISTERS:

This book was inspired by two different story ideas I had: one was a mage & scribe story, the other was a sister story. Both completely different from each other, and both haunted me for years. I tried to write each one on their own, but the ideas continued to fizzle out, and I didn’t know why. Until I brought these two ideas together and they finally caught fire, and suddenly I had a compelling story on my hands! 🔥

I drafted this book in just under 2 months. I knew where I was beginning, and I knew where I wanted it to end, but I had to discover everything in-between as I drafted! 🏔

The original title was SING UNTO DUST. I have a very hard time titling my books, and my agent suggested I think of a new one, because this working title didn’t provide much insight into what the story was about. I know some readers are tired of the BLANK of BLANK & BLANK title formula, but I feel like it’s a great way of informing readers. It gives a hint of the fantasy they are about to embark on and what they can expect to encounter. ⚔️
