TribOriginal was fantastic! Here's to Onca and all of her helpers for putting on such a spectacular festival in the countryside near Hendersonville, North Carolina. Couldn't have asked for more beautiful fall weather in the camp resort. Great music all weekend, Jeff was in heaven blowing his horns! With drummers Jeremiah (From Solace), Davud (from Turku), and another David, with August on accordian, and other musicians sitting in, it as such a treat. And I got to dance with them in the Friday night show. In our set, Jeff and I did a mini duet which was very touching for me. He is amazing! And "Wow", what an honor for me to perform with all of them. I thought my performing days were coming to a quiet time, but I danced solo both Friday and Saturday nights, and had a blast. Both nights of great performances, one live music night, and one canned music. A lovely assortment of teachers were at the festival, so you could take whatever classes you wanted.

I taught a writing workshop and the dancers wrote some killer shorts for me, I'm waiting for them to send them to me so I can share them in the D-Quad anthology! And I taught a shawl workshop which was great fun, and we danced a bit in duets too. Jeff and I gave a zil and melody workshop which as wonderful fun (and loud!) with a mini zil choreography at the end. Jeff's horn workshop was two hours but really lasted about six, everyone was so jazzed to be playing ney and mijwiz! woo hoo…It was another quick but fabulous time, and I saw many old friends and met lots of new dancers, the tribal community grows and loves and seizes the spirit, so very cool!

I"ll put up some more photos in a bit. It is nice to be back to my blog as I have been so caught up in the running of my shop this fall that I have not been writing so much. I'm wanting to write more about this different dance journey that I am now, the one that I started to write about in the last Caravan Trails enewsletter, as well as start a new blog about the Cultivator General Store, with tidbits, wines, recipes, and farmgirl stuff, so we'll see how all of this pans out for me and you delightrul readers!

I also got same great feedback from the shows and the workshops, thought I would share those too!

*Kelly Pilkington Burrell says:

I really enjoyed watching you perform at TribO –you have such an open, loving, laughing spirit –you really touch people!

*Leilani Hughes Cochran says:

It was a dream come true to have the opportunity to participate in your classes. The Shawl dance is a lovely piece- and i really enjoyed how you covered the material and made it easier to absorb. Wow- and move while playing new zill patterns- thanks for the gentle kick in the booty! My confidence is growing as a result of your encouragement. I feel like i am beaming more brightly as a reflection of having been witness to the True Joy you give so freely when dancing!

*Robin Sylvester writes:

"Words cannot express my thanks for your inspiration and superb teaching. Dancing shawls to a Spanish violin while a storm blows through my open windows. Book devoured, aspirations soaring!"

*"Just wanted to say how much I got out of the zill class as well as appreciating the solidness of your experience and of course your ever present smile."

Photos of the certified dancers!

These girls did it! I think this quote says a lot about following your dreams, or not…and these girls took the plunge to take time to study and do what they needed and wanted to do to achieve some sort of life and dance goal. Pretty awesome, eh?Collective Soul Level ONe

Collective Soul starts again!

So nice to have a small intimate group of dancers to work with! My 2 weeks of intensives has started; yesterday was day one of Collective Soul Level One with five dancers from England, Oregon, Washington, and California. (One dancer got strep throat and could not make it at the last minute.) We had a great first day of dancing and lots of talking. That is what I love about this course. We really get to voice our thoughts, opinions, questions, and get down into the meat of tribal, what it...

a lovely review of my book, Tribal Vision!

It always makes my heart happy and my spirit feel a connection with my work even more, when I receive a  thoughtful and touching review of my book, Tribal Vision! And I just got this email, thank you Ariel for taking the time to read the book, and write back to me! Thought I would share this all with you, too…

Hi Paulette,

sharing, read on another entree

I just read this on my student, Brandy's, pages…

I thought so appropriate…especially because I've been so absent in my blogging, working on so many new things right now—a new webpage, a new blog idea, some scrapbooking,  working at the Cultivator of course, and now, getting ready for two weeks of dance instensives, Collective Soul Level's One, Two, Three, and Teacher Training Level One. Dancers from California, Portland, Scotland, Washington, Florida, and Australia are heading my way to...
