The One Who Loves Me
(Sovereign Love #2)By Joan EmbolaChristian Contemporary RomancePaperback & ebook, 340 PagesMay 21, 2022 by Love Qualified PressIS GOD SOVEREIGN OVER LOVE STORIES?
Amara Ikezie is a new grad nurse who is thrilled to start her dream job in Atlanta’s biggest children’s hospital. But when her best friend gets engaged, Amara is faced with the looming pressure from her mom to find her own man. Determined to escape the pressure to marry, Amara takes on a task to find the ‘perfect’ man who ticks all the boxes on her list.
Raymond Aderinto is a pediatric cardiologist with a wall of accolades and a string of failed relationships. After his fourth girlfriend dumps him, Raymond vows to get confirmation from God first before entering into his next relationship—even though he’d love to find his bride before turning thirty.
When Raymond spills coffee on Amara’s scrubs, he becomes certain she’s the woman God wants to be his wife. But unfortunately for him, Raymond doesn’t tick Amara’s boxes, and worst of all, Amara is sure her Igbo mom would never approve of a marriage to a man from the Yoruba tribe.
Despite Amara’s efforts to stay away from Raymond and convince herself he is not the one for her, her growing attraction for his character, values, and vision gives her more reasons to wonder if she was wrong about her prejudices toward him. When another doctor walks into Amara’s life who ticks all her boxes and shows interest in her, she is caught between running into his ‘perfect’ arms, or going with Raymond who is turning out to be more perfect than she thought.
The One Who Loves Me, book two in the Sovereign Love series, is a beautiful standalone novel about surrender and learning to take comfort in the sovereign goodness of a loving God who writes the best love stories.
Excerpt
“God has a wonderful way of using our mistakes to teach us lessons and draw us closer to Him. It’s not the mistake that matters, Tessa. It’s God’s grace and forgiveness through it and what that tells us about His love for us.”
Tessa sighs. “I agree with you, but it’s hard when my mom keeps rubbing my mistakes in my face. Will it ever get easier?” Her dark gaze pleads for some words of hope and I cast my mind back to my relationship with Mom. I’m hoping that we’ll learn to understand each other more from now on, but dealing with her endless criticisms while growing up wasn’t easy.
“I think we should be hopeful, but I can’t promise things will get easier.” I shake my head “Our parents are human beings too and they make mistakes. Have you asked God to forgive you?”
Tessa nods. “Yes, I have and I don’t want to do it again.”
“That’s great. Are you willing to live your life fully as a Jesus girl?”
Tessa nods again. “Yes, I am.”
“Then that’s all that matters because God now sees you as flawless.”
“He does?” She asks as tears pool in her eyes.
“He sure does, girl. So even if your mom reminds you of it, remind yourself that Jesus has forgiven you and that’s all that matters.”

MY REVIEW
The One Who Loves Me took me on a ride into Nigerian culture. I enjoyed the characters of Amara & Raymond. 'The Christian aspect of the story went further than just stating their faith in God but had an in-depth relationship message as well. I enjoyed following their relationship as it grew and also the related to the everyday issues that arose. God's love is what makes a relationship grow. The story spoke of praying for guidance while single and letting God lead you to that special someone. We are reminded to take things slow and embrace God's special plan for our life. The language phrases/slang were sometimes challenging but well worth the effort. A humorous rom-com and enlightening romp through a different culture. Couldn't put it down. I received a complimentary copy from the author and voluntarily choose to review it. All opinions are my own.

MY REVIEW
Hannah, a single Amish woman finds a baby in her family barn. A note left specifically for her asked her to care for the child. Unable to have children of her own, it was an answer to prayer.
Mike Coder, searching for his nephew due to the death of his sister and her giving him away, returns to his hometown of Hope Haven, Ohio. In his search, what he finds is more than he bargained for.
Her Amish Springtime Miracle is a beautifully written Amish tale filled with forgiveness, trust, love, and redemption. There are a lot of surprises and emotional upsets to keep you on the edge of your seat.
The ending wraps everything up well. A very uplifting and inspirational story that will warm your heart. Highly recommended. I received a complimentary copy of the book and a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.

Coming May 19th- " If You Rescue Me" by Jerusha Agen!
Book Description
Can his love set her free?
Not all prisons have bars. Charlotte Davis should know—she’s lived in a prison of abuse for years. When her abuser goes too far and threatens her ten-year-old daughter, Charlotte runs to the stranger her mother believed would save her. She hopes to find answers and escape, but she doesn’t expect to meet a man who’s everything she fears yet everything she could love.
Police Sergeant Gabe Kelly can tell Charlotte’s hiding something and doesn’t trust cops. But despite his better judgment, his heart is drawn toward Charlotte and her little girl. What begins as kindness threatens to turn into something riskier if Gabe doesn’t get ahold of his feelings.
When Charlotte’s secrets catch up with her, Gabe’s badge puts them on opposite sides of the bars between them. Will God’s redemption be enough to set them free to love?
My Thoughts
I received an Advanced Readers Copy recently for this new release by Jerusha Agen. The book had me on the edge of my seat. Her characters are intense and her plight of abuse gripped my heart. This book wraps your heart around sadness but there are also unexpected times of fear and great danger, forgiveness and unconditional love.
The Christian love came through shining a light of hope in a flame of darkness. One of Jerusha's best, if not the best story.

MY REVIEWA Rose for the Resistance is set in France during the invasion of Germany. Its characters are full of depth and the storyline is engaging.
Even with all the books written about the war, this one held my interest. The author's descriptions of the countryside brought the story to life and is enhanced by the message of faith.
The storyline draws us in to view the daily struggles, fears, and uncertaintly. It reminds us of choices and to stand up for what we believe in.
I received a complimentary copy and willingly choose to review it. All opinions are my own.
About the Author
To keep from freezing in the great white north, Angela K Couch cuddles under quilts with her laptop. Winning short story contests, being a semi-finalist in ACFW’s Genesis Contest, and a finalist in the 2016 International Digital Awards also helped warm her up. As a passionate believer in Christ, her faith permeates the stories she tells. Her martial arts training, experience with horses, and appreciation for good romance sneak in as well. When not writing, she stays fit (and toasty warm) by chasing after four munchkins.
More from Angela
The story of A Rose for the Resistance has been in the making for a while. Rosalie and Franz came to life for me in the first novel I started writing as a teenager… (not even going to mention how long ago that was). Though much of that early work will never see the light of day, I am glad I can finally share them with you.
Every November 11th since I was a child, I would sit with my dad and watch WWII documentaries and movies like A Bridge too Far, or The Longest Day which featured Sainte-Mère-Église during the D-day landings. So many of those stories beg to be remembered and I tried to include as much as I could in this novel, even in passing. Stories such as John Steele of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment who dropped into the warzone of Sainte-Mère-Église that night and his chute caught on the spire of the church. He hung limply for hours, pretending to be dead, before the Germans took him prisoner. John later escaped and rejoined his division. Or, Henry Langrehr who landed five miles from his drop zone, crashing through a greenhouse on the way down. He was unharmed from the fall, but was later wounded and captured. He lived into his nineties to tell the tale.
Many of the events and deeds of The Resistance in the novel are also pulled from history. The French citizen’s willingness to risk their lives to transport weapons and information, and to staunchly resist the brutal German occupation. It is estimated that approximately 90,000 men women – and children – were killed, tortured, or deported by the Germans for their efforts.
Though many of the characters in this story are fictional, there are so many men and women who truly did live through the horrors of the War in Europe, and more importantly risked or sacrificed their all for the freedom and lives of others.
I pray we never forget.

My Review
Lilly inherits her aunt Agatha's estate, Rosenli Manor in 1898. Lilly is quite accomplished as a bookkeeper in spite of working in a predominately man's profession. Lilly barely remembers her aunt and through a series of letters and townspeople, she tries to learn about her life. The storyline is filled with many secrets. There were dark periods of suspense where Lilly was confused and afraid. Her staff at the manor were her refuge. I enjoyed the descriptions of the town in and the grounds of the manor. It made me feel as though I was there with her.
The ending was surprising and unlocked the many secrets, all but one. Can't wait to find that out as the series continues. If you love mysteries, this one is for you. The characters will have you mesmerized from the beginning. Highly recommended.
I received a complimentary copy of the book and a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.

About the Author

Twelve years later, God has shown her the true meaning of love, and there’s nothing else she’d rather write about. Her books have since earned TOP PICK in Romantic Times, won the Cascade Award, and been Amazon best-sellers. Her book Finding Love in Big Sky filmed on location in Montana and will air in spring of 2022. She also writes non-fiction for SpiritLed Woman. To help aspiring authors, she started IDAhope Writers where she lives in Idaho, and she teaches as an expert online at WRITE THAT BOOK.
More from Angela Ruth
Having my book made into a movie is a dream come true, and getting to be an extra on the set in Montana blew away all my expectations. There’s nothing like walking into a world you created and seeing your imaginary friends come to life.
I knew what was going on before anyone told me. I pointed around the set as I narrated: “They are going to hang that star on the barn. The horses are named Butch and Sundance. And that big red truck is going to break down because I WANT it to break down.”
I got it all right except for one thing. “Actually, Angela, the truck really did break down.” Oops.
Not only was I in on the inside jokes, but I kind of made them up. For example, during the “almost kissing” scene, Josh’s brother walks into the kitchen to look for ice cream. The actors got a good laugh afterwards whenever they were practicing the kissing scene because the actress would turn away with an “I’m going out for ice cream.”
I was only on location for one day, but it was the best day. I saw them film both kisses, the mentor scene, and we were extras in the cowboy ball. (I’m the one in the blue dress who signs up for the silent auction.)
However, my husband Jim was really bummed we couldn’t be there for the scene in the auto repair shop. He took his own coveralls just in case he could be an extra mechanic. We joked with the actress about it, and when we watched the final cut, we were surprised to see her call back into the shop to a “Jim.” I messaged her to ask if she did that on purpose, and she said she did. Such a sweet tribute.
On our last day, we ate breakfast at the Western Café (another film location) with the director, and we visited the jewelry shop where my hero had a necklace made for the heroine with the logo of her ranch on it. Jim gave me the exact same necklace for Christmas.
Everyone was so fun and nice, and even if I someday get to have another book made into a movie, I don’t think it could top this experience. I really hope you enjoy both the novel and the film. And may the message of how “you are a treasure” carry you forward toward your own dreams.
My Review
Paisley Sheridan inherits her grandfather's ranch and she has plans for it. The plan didn't include a man from his high school days that finds out he still has feelings for her. The romance between Paisley and Josh is sweet, and intense at times. Both characters feel the need to pray about it.The storyline is about two people who live different lives and can't seem to come together. The ending wrapped everything up nicely and it was a sweet romantic story which held my attention from the beginning. The Christian aspect came through perfectly.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and willingly choose to review it. All opinions are my own.

A mail-order mistake…
Or a made-to-be match?
When Della Mae Wagner’s train arrives in Missouri, she’s shocked to find that the couple who hired her don’t just want a teacher for their grandsons but a wife for their son! After a broken engagement, marriage is not in Della’s plans. And Hank Lamson isn’t pleased—with his parents, with his unexpected guest or with Della’s unfairly appealing smile. But his plans to send her packing are foiled as his family comes to love her…and he feels the walls around his wounded heart start to fall.

EXCERPT
Della straightened her back at Mr. Lamson’s tone. So much for an ally amongst the confusion. Of course, she wasn’t looking for a husband any more than this man sought a wife, yet she couldn’t help but relive the sting of Tom’s rejection all over again. “I’m not here to apply to be your wife. Nor to be someone you court.”
Alice released a small gasp and Mr. Lamson crossed his arms as if he didn’t believe her, either. “You’re not?”
Mercy sakes. Did women fall at his feet so often he was surprised that anyone didn’t wish to be his wife? What kind of women lived in Missouri?
The story is set in Missouri in 1889. Della answers an ad for what she thought was a teaching position. Instead, Hank's parents had hoped she would be his mail-order bride. Hank wasn't ready to marry. His wife died, leaving him with three young sons and no desire to wed again. On a trial basis as a teacher, they both agreed she would stay.
The story is inspirational and has a lot of hardships, learning to have a new relationship and lots of forgiveness. What starts as a teaching position turns out to be much more but it doesn't come easy. Fear and a hardened heart toward the Lord make things more difficult.
Even though the story has some sad circumstances, it also has some humorous and loving instances. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down. I highly recommend it.
I received a complimentary copy of the book and a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.

More from Dana
Wooty woo! We’re back in Death Valley again! So excited about this fourth book in the series because Papa Bear and I have actually returned to this amazing place. (Our previous return trip was stalled for a while due to the virus that shall not be named!) People have asked me, “Why do you love Death Valley so much?” I can only respond that you just have to go there to understand. Is it the vastness of the place? The enormous topographical variety? Maybe it’s the profound quietness that permeates the national park and environs. Then again, it might be the panorama of nighttime stars. (Death Valley National Park is a certified International Dark Sky Park due to its limited light pollution.) Could it be the tenacity of people who live there and survive the one hundred twenty-plus degree temperatures in the summer? And how about those animals? The Death Valley pupfish is a teeny little endangered fish that lives in precisely one spot on the globe (Death Valley) and only two places within that range, Salt Creek and Cottonball Marsh. Imagine that! So why set a six-book series in Death Valley? Because there’s no more hostile and incredible place I can think of. I hope you will enjoy taking a fictional trip with me there too. Enjoy the adventure, reader friends!
My Review
Another great read set in Death Valley. Willow Duke a member of the well-known Duke family, finds herself in the middle of a race for her life. Tony, whose brother is a witness in an important high case trial to bring down a crime boss takes care of his brother's two children.
Lots of intrigue, suspense, family relationship issues, and mystery. At times it was hard to know whose side all the characters were on. It kept me on the edge of my seat even to the end. In the middle of the chaos, grows a high-tension romance that keeps those involved guessing. A sweet romance, inspirational and uplifting main characters, and a wonderful setting brings the best storyline. Highly recommended.

To get away from her late husband’s questionable deeds, Ella Winslow takes her three children and heads west to the unsettled Washington Territory to claim land she believes she’s inherited from her father.
Tucker McAlister was fired from his position as deputy marshal for arresting the mayor’s brother-in-law for spousal abuse. His mentor has found him another job, first escorting the wagon train going west, and then as the new marshal in the growing town of Tacoma, Washington Territory.
The trail is long and hard, yet Ella is more than up to the task. Still, Tuck feels the need to watch over her and her children, whether she wants him to or not. It isn’t until they arrive in Washington that he realizes his protection will now need to extend even further than the wagon train itself.
Will Ella’s faith allow her to trust again and make a safe home for her family, while welcoming Tuck into her heart?

U.S. Marshal’s Office
St. Joseph, Missouri
April 20, 1870
Tucker McAlister settled against the wooden railing opposite Willard Davis’ desk. The older man leaned back in his chair and raised his head. His faded brown gaze, gray hair shot through with strands of white, and grizzled beard easily gave away his age. Not to mention the wear and tear thirty-odd years of being a lawman had put on his body.
Tuck held his breath. This was it. Davis was about to announce his retirement, leaving the job of marshal open for the taking. Given Tuck was the deputy with the most experience, he figured he was a shoe-in for the job.
Unfortunately, he’d figured wrong.
“The mayor wasn’t pleased with you arresting his brother-in-law,” Davis said, his narrowed stare aimed in Tuck’s direction. “No doubt with all the high-priced solicitors making their way into town, the whole fiasco is going to be thrown out of court like so much dirty bathwater.”
“He’s guilty as sin, and you know it.”
“I know it, you know it, and—no doubt—the mayor knows it. This isn’t the brother-in-law’s first brush with the law. However, the reprobate claims his wife provoked him.”
“There’s no cause for a man to strike a woman, especially one with child. It’s assault.”
“She’s his wife,” Davis pointed out.
Tuck could feel the flush of anger staining his throat, his face. “That still doesn't give him the right.”
“And the man’s lawyers are claiming you didn’t have the right to give him a black eye and broken wrist.”
“He charged at me when I put myself between him and his missus. I was defending myself when I punched him in the eye. As for his wrist, he did that himself when he swung and missed. I can’t help it if I was standing in front of a brick wall when I ducked.”
Davis snorted a laugh before continuing. “I agree with everything you’ve said, Tuck. You’re my best deputy—the one man I’d trust to take over for me when I retire—and I know you were only protecting the woman.” Heaving a sigh, he added, “However, the mayor’s demanding I fire you. Right here. Right now.”
“No, you can’t do that,” Tuck argued. “I’ll appeal to the state marshal’s office. Surely, they’ll have my back.”
“Their hands are tied. The governor supports the mayor’s request.”
“I was only doing my job, boss.”
“I know, and it’s not fair. I told ‘em so, too.”
“What am I supposed to do? Keeping the law is all I’ve known since I came here eight years ago.”
“You should’ve already been promoted and posted somewhere within the state, Tuck. Hanging around here out of loyalty to an old coot like me hasn’t done you any good.”
“It wasn’t as much loyalty as it was gratitude. You gave an inexperienced, bitter young man a job, a purpose. I owe you everything.”
“What you owe me is to accept the favor I’ve called in from an old friend.”
“A favor? What kind of favor?”
“I got you a job escorting a wagon train headed to Oregon and then on to the Washington Territory. You leave in two-days time. Once you get to Yakima, you’ll need to send a telegram to Marshal Burt Macklin in Olympia.”
“They’ve got a job for me in Olympia?”
“Not there, but the territory’s expanding rapidly. They need a marshal in Tacoma who can cover the town, and the surrounding county. Macklin will meet you in Tacoma to swear you in. Then, as soon as you’re settled, you’ll be able to hire yourself a deputy or two.”
“You told them about me?” Tuck asked.
“I told Burt you were the best deputy I’ve ever trained and darned near the best shot I ever saw. That was all he needed to hear.”
“Does he know I’ve been fired?”
Willard Davis shrugged. “Probably not. I didn’t see any reason to bring it up.”
My Review
Ella Winslow, a widow with three young children decides to make a fresh start and travel from Missouri to Boney Lake, Oregon hoping to live on her deceased father's claim. Things didn't turn out as she planned. God had another direction for her future.
In Oregon, with no home, she follows Tuck to Pendelton, Oregon where his U.S. Marshall position awaits. Their lives are intertwined in a positive way and God provides for all of them-just not what was expected. Ella is a strong woman with an unfortunate past. Tuck, a courageous Godly man is on his way to starting over also.
I loved the faith aspect of the story and the sweet blossoming love story. There were some humorous moments but also some intense ones leading to an unknown future. A short story but full of lots of adventure with an ending that wrapped everything up nicely.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and voluntarily choose to review it. All opinions are my own.
