Marketing StrategyPhoto credit

The following is a guest post from Michelle Custodio from SupplySpy.com.

Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you already know the massive power of Amazon. After all, over 50% of eCommerce transactions happen on Amazon! Open Source e-commerce software

Open Source e-commerce software

If you were seduced by the idea of some of those full featured webstores we discussed but turned off by the price, there’s actually some alternatives with a price tag you’ll love. There are a variety of open source webstores that easily install onto any web host that are completely free. They all come with similar features, such as a robust shopping cart, professional looking ready made templates, and inventory management.

I used to be very intimidated by Open...

How to pick the best selling platform or marketplace for your needs

There are a lot of ways to sell out there. Which one is best? There are a few things to keep in mind no matter what type of selling option you’re looking at:

You don’t have to commit to only one option. Sometimes a combination of two services can create the perfect single option. Whether you sync your items between a marketplace like eBay and your webstore or only use one service for one type of items, another for the rest, keep your options open. Only pay for something if you really need it...

The disadvantages of selling on eBay

The advantages of selling items on eBay are many and over the years they have fine tuned many parts of the process to make it faster and easier for sellers. The eBay I started selling on the 90s looks like a clunky cousin to the efficient process a seller experiences today. By now, eBay is a well oiled machine and there are literally hundreds of tools that make the listing and selling process faster and more efficient. Bulk listing tools, third party services and a wealth of information avail...

My 2019 New Year’s Write-olutions

I am usually an adjustable person when it comes to change but the new WordPress compose window is such a nightmare, I’m actually going to keep this somewhat short literally just so I don’t have to deal with it for more than I have to. I’ve said before that Setting smaller, specific goals with wiggle room is the secret to good writing resolutions. I’ve also always believed that the best goals are the ones that address a problem you are having otherwise what’s the point of changing what’s worki...

2018 Writing Year in Review

I said going in that it was going to be a hard year because I’d have less writing time than ever before and that turned out to be true in many frustrating ways… BUT it gave me a lot of time to stop and think about how I work and to refine some things and find my groove. That’s why you’ll notice I started getting a lot much more done in the back end of this year than I did in the front, despite not having any more time.… Read more

Q4 Autumn 2018: NaNoWriMo Takeover!

This might be the latest in the month I’ve ever gotten one of these updates out but December was a wild month so let’s get right down to it… September 2018 Total Words Written This Month 41,248 New Words Only23,165 Overall After massive writing months in July and August, September was relatively smaller, in part because we went away for a week that month. Vacations in the past ended up being somewhat productive for me because I used to write when my daughter would sleep but now the big one do...

What are the advantages of selling on eBay?

eBay

eBay is the elephant in the room in any e-commerce conversation. The beauty of eBay has long been the fact that anyone can sign up and start selling without any experience or complicated storefront set-up. Sellers of every level, even brand new members or those without stores, get anywhere from 50 to 2,500 free listings a month under the newest fee structure. This a la carte selling has attracted many smaller scale sellers over the years but rising fees and increasing feedback and custom...

Is a bad blog post better than posting nothing at all?

To post or not to post, that is the question.

At this time in my life when I am way too busy and a lot of times blogging becomes the lowest priority, I sometimes wonder… is posting a bad blog post better than none at all? Is a subpar article better than not posting a single thing that day / week / month / whatever? In it better to be inactive than lackluster?

I think about this a lot because there are many days when I don’t have any thing written and I’m faced with the choice of: do I leave t...

Hair of the Dog Post-NaNoWriMo Writing Challenge

You know what the very best cure for a NaNoWriMo hangover is? Hair of the dog! Just keep on writing! But sometimes that’s not always so easy, especially if you’re feeling a bit burned out and missing all the motivation and fun of the big NaNoWriMo event. My Wrimos were lamenting this very thing and wishing they had just a little bit more of a push to help them get to the end of their novels so I decided, if it’s the structure of the challenge people like, instead of just saying “keep writing,...
