Orange is the new Black but Green is the new Orange

Some people shouldn’t own Photoshop because they’ll just use it to make random stupid graphics. I am one of those people. Behold!Orange_is_the_new_Black…yeah. Somehow I convinced myself that making this was a productive use of my limited time tonight. It probably wasn’t. But I kept thinking of this every time I saw heardtalk about the Netflix show so I was hoping that making it would get it out of my head. Besides, I keep endlessly referring toThe Green Bird as The Love of Three Oranges in conversation so I’m hopin...

Tips for telling an official PayPal email from a spoof or scam (with a real example)

seems legit

I got one of those PayPal spoofing emails and I wanted to share it. Let’s be clear, this email is not from Paypal. It’s a fake, designed to steal your info. If you’re ever unsure about anything you get from either eBay or Paypal, forward it to spoof@ebay.com or spoof@paypal.com and they’ll verify for you if it’s real or not.

I know people fall for these all the time and have had friends do it with drastic consequences so I thought we’d take a critical eye to one ofthese scams to help you avo...

First eBay axes the Trading Assistant program then its heir apparent eBay Valet one year later

Can you believe it’s been two years since eBay announced they were terminating the Trading Assistant program? It’s particularly funny in light of the fact that they just announced they were shutting down eBay Valet, their in house heir apparently to the program. When are they going to learn the sellers are going to just sell others items for themselves without them sticking their busy body little nose in between as the world’s most unnecessary middle man.

A year ago, I wrote about how my Sell...

Adapting the Tale of Tales aka the Pentamerone by Giambattista Basile

Thefollow up to my adaptation to The Green Bird was already well underway when I finishedthat project and, while I’ve referred to it generally a few times before, it’s time to really introduce you to my next adaptation.

Pentamerone photo

This is totally one of the stories I’m planning on doing.

In college, when I was working on my adaptation of The Love of Three Oranges, I went to read the original fairy tale on which it was based, which was in the collection of Italian tales known asthe Pentamerone by Giambat...

Method of Payment: How should I pay my Selling Assistant client?

Sell Their Stuff:

There are a wide variety of ways to send payments these days, but it’s hard to find a simpler option than a good old bank check. If you do decide to issue client payment via check, however, you should really consider opening a checking account specifically for your business. Many banks have a free business checking option, so this shouldn’t be an extra expense, and it will make your business look that much more professional than if you’re using your personal checks.

Calculating client payments on a Selling Assistant contract

Sell Their Stuff: How do I know how much to pay my Selling Assistant client?

calculator photoSaying that you’ll pay your client the actual value their items sold for is really an oversimplification because, depending on how you decided to handle your SA fees and/or commission, shipping and selling fees or other expenses, there are several deductions you’ll need to make from that number before you actually send a payment. Of all the elements of your business, this is the one you want to be the most careful w...
