Tips for practicing self-care
Because of covid sometimes life feels like a never-ending rendition of the movie Groundhogs Day. Each day I wake up, drink coffee, work, write, run errands, make dinner, clean up dinner, watch a show with the family & then go to bed after reading a few chapters of a book. Day after day it’s the same routine. Which can lead to covid burnout.
Recently I’ve been thinking a lot about self-care & how to switch it up to feel like my batteries are being recharged. I also asked my friends on Instagram t...

“Is everything okay?” I ask.
“That was a really good kiss, Rusty.”
I smile. Am I a good kisser and didn’t know it? Maybe you have to be kissing the right person for it to feel right?
“You made it good,” I reply.
“Should we go back to the group?” Her cheeks are red.
I shake my head. “Fuck them.”
She laughs and goes to cover her mouth, then she pulls it away.

“Hi, I’m Rusty. I believe you’re my driver?”
After landing, I park the plane and tie it down. My heart begins to palpitate. Now that I’m on the ground, nerves overtake me. Even though we’ve spent hours talking to each other every night, we’ve only been around each other a couple of times. This all seems insane. What if, for some reason, we no longer have chemistry?
As I exit the tarmac and head to the FBO, Abby’s standing in the lobby with a poster board that reads “Rusty.” All of her beautiful golden locks are tucked up into a newsboy c...

Rusty meets Abby
“So, uh, have you and Cory been friends long?”
“Yes, she and Dylan have been my best friends since we were kids. I’m one of Cory’s biggest fans.”
“She’s pretty awesome,” I say.
She gauges me, trying to see what I meant by that.
I lean in to whisper in her ear, “Between us, I think she and Samson are falling for each other.”
She turns her face and whispers in my ear. Her skin smells like some kind of cookie, and I want to taste her to find out the exact flavor. “I think CoCo likes him ...

Bella reaches over and squeezes my arm. All the emotions from this summer come to a head. I’ve been preparing myself for this moment. This is the moment when I’ll finally make my move. She’s been sending signals all summer, and after a lot of discussion with my sister, I’m convinced that I’m not making this up in my head, and Bella does like me.
“Can you believe we’re about to go to college?” Bella’s blue-gray eyes softly focus on mine.
She’s drunk. Hell, I’m drunk too. The hand that’s on my...
