The whole television thing…

Yesterday I was invited to talk about The Accidental Salvation of Gracie Leewith Alyse Eady, localTHV11Little Rock news anchor, and food bloggerDebbie Arnold (Dining with Debbie). The whole television thing was interesting and fun andcompletely new to me. I had no idea what to expect which was a good thing because I didn’t have a chance to overthink it or stress too much. Our segment was live. No do-overs.

Gracie Lee's favorite strawberry cupcakes

Man alive this is good. I’m making Gracie Lee’s favorite strawberry cupcakesfor tomorrow’s THV11 food segment with Dining with Debbie. This was my Nana’s strawberry cake recipe but I decided to go with cupcakes for easier transport to Little Rock. I’ve blogged about it before. HERE’s the recipe. It’s worth talking about again.

This recipe is the best combination of everything. Sugar. Strawberries. Memories.

Sweet, sweet memories.

Here are today’s pictures.

Perfectbreakfast this morning:)

Craft: Seed Packet Party Favor

We southern girls are all about the party favor, am I right? The way I see it, if people will go to the trouble of coming to one of my book signings, they won’t be leaving empty handed. So in keeping with the whole GraceGritsGarden theme, I’ve been making seed packets for my next book signing in Little Rock.If you live in the area, I hope you’ll plan to join me at WordsWorth Bookson Saturday, April 2 from 3:00 – 4:30. And if you do, you’ll leave with one of theselittle seed packets.

This is how it starts, the happiness of spring.

Spring hassprung in my garden and I’m feelingthe happiness of spring.I worried about my tulipswhen our temperature plunged to a rude25 degrees a few days ago, but bulbs are hardy and they were unfazed. Last night we had wickedweather and I spent some time in my safe place. Happy Sunday! Happy Spring!

happy spring!

Just a quickpost to say Happy Sunday, Happy Spring, and go away winter. Today is the first day of spring but it doesn’t feel like it. I’m so over this cold weather. When I left Austin it was 92—not that I look forward tothe hot summer because I don’t—but tonight our low in Fayetteville is 25 degrees.

Over.It.

My tulips are about to bloom. I can’t protectmy whole yard from the heavy frost we will most certainly get.

I love winter and I’m all about a good snowfall and snow cream and snow angel...

Home from Texas.

home sweet home

When I was a kid, Momma always said“Home again, home again, jiggity jig,” whenever we pulled into the carport. Actually, she still does, and so of course, sometimes I do too. After a week in Austin with my daughter, it feels good to be home from Texas.

My drive home to F...

Radicchio stuffed with Goat Cheese & Walnuts

Radicchio stuffed with Goat Cheese and Walnuts

If you’re looking for a fancy-ishsalad for Easter or any special gathering, try radicchio stuffed with goat cheese and walnuts. The combination of sweet and salty pairs well withmost any protein. These radicchio salads can be eaten the traditional way (with knife and fork), or the naturally cupping radicchio leaves can be wrapped and eaten as a finger food or appetizer (i.e. lettuce wrap).

This recipe calls for both goat cheese and balsamic vinegar—two staples in my house. My favorite goat c...
