Lucy and Annabelle go to Collier Drug

Lucy and annabelle go to Collier DrugYesterday, Lucy and Annabelle bounded right on in to Collier Drug and were greeted like the stars they think they are. If you live in Fayetteville, Arkansas, you probably already know how wonderful Collier Drug is. And if you don’t, you absolutely should. Collier is a once-upon-a-time drugstore, a dying breed in this world of soul sucking chain stores. Family-owned and independent—that’s the secret.

Not that’s it’s a secret.

So by now you’ve probably heard that Fayetteville was recently ranke...

The energy of Denver Street Art

Denver Street Art… Denver Street Art

Mural, 16th Street Mall, by @zehb_1

I spent an entire day last week walking around taking pictures of Denver street art. There’s so, so much! The beautiful day felt as though I’d downloaded it from a weather app, fairytale perfect—I was extremely fortunate in that regard. Denver. January. It could have been way different.

Street art is technically defined as “art developed in public places”. I consider street art as anything that stops me, draws my eye, makes me take a seco...

Winter Reading: January 2017

Winter reading January 2017

Winter Reading: January 2017…

Books have always provided great entertainment for me, as well as escape. I don’t know about you, but this January felt like the perfect time to climb into the pages of a book, hunker down, and hibernate. And I decided since my love for books extends far and wide and deep into my soul, I may as well share my thoughts right here. This won’t be a typical book review feature, though. Just a snippet of what I thought (or didn’t think) about whatever books made it to...

Savoring January

Savoring January 2017

Did you blink? Today is the last day of January! I’ve done my best throughout January to savor the moments. You may or may not know I chose SAVOR as my One Little Word for 2017. And dangnabbit I plan to do it, even amid all the chaos surrounding us. The photo above depicts my visual effort to savor the month—one picture taken each day in January.

Savor—to taste, smell, relish, delight in. Doing something slowly.

Savoring FLAVOR…

I’ll start with food because that’s the first thing I imagine w...

Glimpses of Us

Denver trip - glimpses of us

You know what’s cool? Having an adult son who is more than willing to hang out with his Momma and show her all around his city.

You know what’s strange? Walking through the Denver airport when I first arrived and being flooded with a memory I hadn’t thought about in years. A memory of being delayed at the Denver airport for ten hours with two small children. My children, of course, and while I did my best to entertain them, I was tired and they were energetic with sticky hands and busy minds...

create a Creative Space

from closet to creative space!

This guest room closet had nothing in it so I claimed it. Now an unused closet provides a creative space for writing, journaling, crafting, or whatever artisticendeavor strikes my fancy. And while the spot is small, smallis ideal for my needs.

The room itself is quiet with no distractions. If I have a houseguest, I can pull the curtain shut and hide the clutter. Not that craft projects could ever be clutter-y. (But they can.) I haven’t done anything permanent. If I need to convert my creati...

Inauguration Day. Ready or not.

Inauguration Day. Ready or Not.

I had plans to blog today about Inauguration Day. The history behind it. The weight and magnitude of it. And how, ready or not, Inauguration Day is a great day in America. I had plans to say no matter how someone feels about Donald Trump, we can all celebrate the bigger picture and the fact that we live in a country where truly the most unlikely of candidates can become President.

And I am saying all that because it’s what I believe.

BUT.

Honestly, I’m afraid for the bigger picture with Dona...

Mid-January Thinks and Ungoals

Mid-January thinks and ungoalsSince we’re onthe backside of January,I thought I’d share my mid-January thinks and ungoals. If January is idealfor one thing,it’s thinking and planning. And re-thinking and re-grouping. January gives us a psychologicalclean slate.

Give me aclean slate and a piece of chalk and I willrule the world.

Turns out, I’m not a princess.

Turns out I'm not a princess. And I don't live in La La Land. Turns out, I’m not a princess.

Not there was ever really a doubt of my lineage. But still, Papa Creecy called me a princess once or twice or a zillion times. Uncle Rex treated me like a princess. And there were a few times in college (ahem) I felt like one. Sorta.

I’m not. A princess. This truthwas100% confirmed last night. Actually this morning.

But first. Yesterday afternoon, I saw La La Land. AndI LOVED it so so much. And the more I think about it, the more I LOVE it. Mia (Emma Stone) is ad...
