Six Postcards Home gets a new cover for summer!

I hope that you are having a lovely summer and going away somewhere nice. If you happen to be passing through the airport or rummaging through the big bookstores for something to take on holiday then Six Postcards Home will be on the shelves with a lovely new cover!

It’s also available as an ebook if you click here on amazon Six Postcards Home ! Starting in 1982 it will hopefully bring back some special memories for all those Grove heads from the Northside of Dublin. DJ Cecil gets a mention of course and even the stage.

My book of short stories ‘Irish Girls on Holiday’, co-written with Marisa Mackle and Niamh Greene is on special this weekend too! With so many new titles coming out it will be a busy summer for avid readers but I hope that you enjoy. Click here for the link to Irish Girls on Holiday

New York and Oklahoma

I returned to New York for three nights recently…a very different Three Nights to my second novel, I might add! This time I was with my daughter and we had the most wonderful mother and daughter experience. You can read all about it here by clicking Sunday World or my school of travel blog

I have also been treking around the state of Oklahoma with my father on a very different type of trip! We stayed on a working ranch and visiting a host of interesting cultural centers about Cowboys and Indians. I was so inspired I think this may be another novel! In the meantime I have to write some more short stories after the success of Irish Girls on Holiday which I co-wrote with Marisa Mackle and Niamh Greene. It is still climbing the charts on Amazon and you can get it for only 99p by clicking here amazon

I hope that you have a wonderful summer and

On my travels again

I’ve been a little distracted lately by my travels but I hope it will all help with my new stories. I am currently writing a story set in Oslo after a terrific research trip to Norway in February. I dragged the family along and we had the best fun skiing on the slopes and sightseeing on the fjords. I published a report of our travels in the Sunday World newspaper and I’ve posted our experiences up on my school of travel blog.

Last weekend I took a trip closer to home to the city of the tribes. Galway was bustling and as it was my daughters first time in the city we had great fun shopping, exploring and visiting the aquarium. We stayed at the Radisson blu which is right beside Eyre Square and I can confirm that it has a wonderful spa! But it’s head down to work for me this week as I have a deadline to complete some short stories that I am very excited about and I hope to be able to post more news on this very soon…so watch this space!

If you have been pondering getting down to some writing yourself check out the fabulous writing.ie website. There’s never been a better time to start that book than now and you will find all sorts of inspiring posts and information from the wonderful writers on this site.

Take care and…Happy reading

Wonderful news!

What a lovely start to 2014 – I discovered that 5 Peppermint Grove was number Four in the Irish Times bestseller list this Saturday. It was a great week for other Poolbeg authors too. And the new post on my travel blog features my article on Rome published in last week’s Irish Mail on Sunday. schooloftravel.blogspot.ie

I will be in the Hen House with fellow Midday panelist Barbara Scully this Wednesday on Dublin South fm. Tune in if you can. We had some fun on the Midday Show last week and you can see it here. www.tv3.ie/Midday

Happy 2014…bring it on!!!

The New Year can be a difficult time for people who are sad to ring out the old or may have had a tough time or lost a loved one. But New Year is a chance to set new goals and aims and a clean slate to start anew and appreciate the good people and things in our life that we still have. For me 2013 was a wonderful year in many ways with lots of travel and another novel to complete my six books with Poolbeg. It’s time to stir things up a little and I have two new books in the making which means that 2014 will be getting off to a very exciting and fresh start.

I am working on my first Young Adult novel which has travel as a theme but also lots of action and adventure. Then I am co-writing a non-fiction book which I hope will be an inspiration for many in 2014. So mix this with a little more travel and it looks like 2014 is shaping up to be a busy year.

Look out for me on Midday on TV3 too and I hope to be doing some other broadcasting features regarding travel.

Phew! Many thanks to everyone who read one of my novels this year and for the lovely reviews, messages and comments.

Happy reading and here’s to a fabulous 2014

Underneath The Mistletoe and other short stories

I got a crazy notion into my head the other day and it wouldn’t go away so here is the result of it…The new cover of my book of six short stories is now on www.amazon.co.uk/Underneath-Mistletoe-other-short-stories. Some of the stories were published in Woman’s Way magazine and one of them in an anthology compiled by Poolbeg Press. It will give those who haven’t read my books a taste of some of my stories and indeed some of them did inspire parts in one or two of my novels.

I have been travelling again with the whole family to Wales and with my husband to Athens among other places so I’ve decided to post updates of my travel writings on my new blog http://www.schooloftravel.blogspot.ie/ . Please check it out if you get a chance. But for now it’s back to writing my new non-fiction title which has had to take a back seat with all of this travelling.

I hope that you have a lovely time in the run up to Christmas

Happy reading

Autumn is here and I love this time of year because it means cosy nights by the fire and for many an opportunity to get back reading! Six Postcards Home hit the shelves this month and it is available in all good bookstores. The Irish Independent published a lovely review and you can read it here independent.ie
