The Modern Workplace

New book release:
In a world where androids are getting all the jobs, how will humans survive?

Abandoned as a baby and raised by a loving foster mother, Zena knows she is lucky. In 2180 when the greedy ruling elite prefer using androids in the workplace to increase revenue, Zena still has a job.

Working at a New York City bank, Zena manages to eke out a living. Around the world, billions of people live in grinding poverty while the ruling elite hoard money in overflowing bank accounts.

When Zena receives the devastating news that the bank will replace her with an android, her world falls apart. With no job and no prospects, she wonders how she will ever fulfill her foster mother’s prophecy that she will do something important in the world.

Then one day, when Zena hits rock bottom, a chance encounter with a homeless man in a grocery store sparks an unexpected chain of events that turns her life and the rest of the world upside down.

How Will Artificial Intelligence Change Society?

Driverless trucks on the roads are here! In two Australian mines, the megalithic company Rio Tinto already uses forty-five 240-ton self-driving trucks to transport iron ore. Several tests since the first driverless truck was launched on public roads in Nevada in May 2015 have been conducted. For example, in April 2016, a convoy of driverless trucks traveled across Europe to Rotterdam. A novel automated driving technology called platooning allowed the convoy of trucks to be connected by Wi-Fi, sensors, GPS, and cameras. The leading truck set the pace by dictating the speed and direction, whereas those following behind steered, speeded up, and slowed down accordingly. Recently, companies have started up that offer to retrofit trucks with driverless capabilities. In fact, by 2040, 75% of the traffic will be driverless vehicles. So, what will happen to truck drivers and taxi drivers? The transportation industry is just one of many that will be transformed by artificial intelligence in the near future as androids replace humans in the workplace. Will humans become obsolete?

Can Different Universes Exist In A Computer?

The future is here. D-Wave, a technology company in British Columbia, Canada, has cracked the code for quantum computing. In classical computers, the smallest unit is broken down into a binary system of either “one” or “zero”. In quantum physics, a particle can act as a particle or wave or both a particle and a wave. This phenomenon is known as superposition. In quantum computers, the “bit” or “qubit” can be zero or one or zero and one so that it can perform two equations at once, whereas three qubits can perform eight equations at once and so forth. So, quantum computers will have enormous power. It is believed that quantum states exist in different universes. Thus, a quantum computer will potentially have different universes existing within it.

Quantum computers will also transform artificial intelligence, enabling machines to think. Should we be afraid of artificial intelligence? What will the future be like when machines can think like humans? Will humans become obsolete?

Read more about how artificial intelligence will change society in HUMAN AGAIN e-book and paperback, available on Amazon and other retailers.
