On Inspiration, Surprises and the Gifts of Writing A Novel: An Interview on Daryl Rothman’s Blog

This post was originally published on Daryl Rothman’s blog. Daryl is one of those generous people on Twitter, who very soon became a friend. His own fantasy novel for young adults,The Awakening of David Rose, is available here. I really enjoyed this interview. Sometimes you need the right question to make you stumble into new thoughts.

All the Tomorrows – LAUNCH DAY AND BOOK READING!

How can it be here already?! But it is, it is! It’s the launch day for my debut novel, All the Tomorrows. A huge thanks to Lane Diamond at Evolved Publishing for believing in the book, to my magnificent editor Jessica West, and D. Robert Pease for his cover art. I am so excited and terrified, I can barely breathe.

For a long time I thought this public side of the process was something I wouldn’t enjoy. I love blogging because it feels intimate. Writing a book, for the most part, is an intens...

How I Researched All the Tomorrows

This post appeared first on my publisher’s website.

[image error]Look out for my favourite lines from the novel this weekend. I’ll be posting them on my Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram. Just message/tweet me a page number from 1-289 and I’ll respond with a tiny snippet.

Committing to a story idea is a funny thing, at least for me. It’s a decision that is made half with the heart, half with the head. My debut novel grew from an image I just couldn’t shake: a filthy, older, Indian man, pressed up again...

All the Tomorrows is written mostly from the perspective of newlyweds Jaya and Akash. It’s their story most of all, but there’s another character who gets a scene from her own perspective once or twice, and that’s Soraya, the other woman.

I...

All the Tomorrows – Cover Reveal Day!

It’s cover reveal day for All the Tomorrows!

Huge thanks to Evolved Publishing and cover artist extraordinaire D. Robert Pease, who took my jumbled vision for the cover and translated it into art that gives a sense of place, mood and genre.

I hope you like it as much as I do. It’s hard to believe that I’ll be holding it in my hands soon. Let me know what you think!

In case you missed it the first time, here’s the blurb:

Sometimes we can’t escape the webs we are born into. Sometimes we ar...

It’s almost time to reveal D. Robert Pease’s cover for my novel! One day to go. I can’t wait to hear what you think.

Yesterday, I posted the book blurb for All the Tomorrows. Today, I’m sharing the opening scene of the novel – which has been edited by the wonderful Jessica West – with you:

Chapter 1

The sun hung like a molten pendant on the horizon as Akash rolled away from his sleeping wife. He cursed as t...
