Evening mist:all things blue

We spent most of Sunday at Main Beach. Its quieter than the bustle of Surfers, which gave us a chance to reflect on the beauty of the day. We walked along the shore for a while, then sat down and watched the surfers, the dog walkers and one or two fisherman on the shoreline. We spotted a blue jelly fish and spied a fisherman gently push a stingray back into the water. Then, the seamist eerily crept up to the shoreline, and it was time to go home.

Burleigh Heads

We set out this morning for a  lovely lunch at a cafe in Tallebudgera Valley. The cafe is known for its scenic location tucked in the heart of the hinterland, where kangaroos are known to appear.

Needless to say, after spending nearly 2 hours driving around, we couldn’t find it! I was starting to think that its a mirage, this cafe.

Driving down to the beachfront, we settled at Burleigh Heads, and had lunch at the local surf club.

Not a bad place to stop tho…..

Happy Thanksgiving — Inner Ramblings Boulevard:

Happy Thanksgiving to all across the pond!

Hello lovely people! Happy Thanksgiving!!! This Thanksgiving I have lots for which to be thankful. 1. I have an amazing Father. He knows all my needs. He knows all my dreams. He knows my pain. He knows how much I’ve suffered. He knows how far I’ve come. He knows how far I’ve yet to go. […]

Tuesday Quote: 9

“First, find out what your hero wants, then just follow him!”
– Ray Bradbury
ray_bradbury_hs_yearbookRay Bradbury

I chose a quote from a writer this week, one that resonates with all writers who may be struggling with their plots, characters or have a general writing block! It seems easy to write when its written as succinctly as this.

American scifi writer Ray Bradbury (1920-2012), write dystopian novels with themes of fantasy scifi, mystery and horror. My son raves over his iconic book Fahrenheit 451, having read it numerous times. It resides on his book shelf, the pages well read and raved over!

Did you know?

he’s mostly known for his iconic dystopian novel Fahrenheit 451 (1953)
he has numerous awards, including a 2007 Pulitzer Citation
he also wrote The Martian Chronicles (1950s), a series of short stories set around a society on Mars, fleeing a troubled Earth
his biggest influences included HG Wells, Arthur C Clarke and John Steinbeck
he is regarded by the New York Times as “the writer most responsible for bringing modern science fiction into the literary world.”

Murder Mystery Book : Stella Windermere The case of the Polish sailor

Port Talbot beachfrontPort Talbot beachfront

Stella Windermere: The case of the Polish sailor

I am at the finishing up stage of a new Murder Mystery, set in my hometown of Port Talbot south Wales, called Stella Windermere: The case of the Polish Sailor. It’s the first mystery that I’ve written, and I’ve enjoyed every second of reliving some of the places, especially the beachfront, the docklands and the gorgeous Margam Castle and Park.

Here’s a taster of the story:

When a body is found on the beachfront at Aberavon,  amateur sleuth Stella Windermere is intrigued. The police are confused as to the identity of the mysterious man. All they have to go on is an ID tag next to the body. When a well known member of the community is bludgeoned to death at a party, the mystery deepens. Stella finds that she has to use all her wits to capture the murderer, along with her new assistant, Joe.

The mystery is due for release just before Christmas this year (so a few weeks time !) and will be available on Amazon as a kindle and a book……:)

Wynnum Waterfront

These were taken at a recent trip north to Moreton Bay. Wynnum is a small coastal town overlooking the bay. Further north is the Port of Brisbane and the Gold Coast is to the south. I couldn’t resist taking a snap of these seagulls, looking down at the paddling pool as if waiting for a paddle. The second pic shows the wood from the original jetty built in 1882 to accommodate the first European settlers to the area.
