A Picture Says A Thousand Words, No.1

So, you might wonder what does a stop sign in Seward Alaska have to do with my third book in the Faye Davis series, Release? I took this picture on October 8, 2018 at the intersection of Hemlock Avenue and the Seward Highway. Interesting, I said to myself, and you will to after the read.

Release is now available at the Swisher County Museum in paperback for only $15:00 at 127 SW 2nd, Tulia Texas. The author will be doing a book signing at the Museum Saturday November 3, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., save the date!

If an eBook is more your style, the Kindle format of Release is available at Amazon.com, Nook format at BarnesandNoble.com, and iBook format at Apple.com/apple-books. Paperback books are also available from these sites, but are at retail price.

Lambeau and the Three Fingered Man

For a moment, I considered entitling my next novel, Lambeau and the Three Fingered Man. But realistically, in the next book, there is not a three-fingered man nor is there a Shih-Tzu. It’s not that I don’t adore my fur-babies, I do, but they are not considered the toughest dogs out there, and they are not what I consider intriguing. But don’t write them off completely. After all, last week, they did walk right by this rattler and didn’t even flinch.

If the truth be known, it’s more like they didn’t even see him coiled inside the base of a dandelion weed. So, with that being said, I decided to leave the Shih-Tzu’s completely out of it. So when is the new novel going to be released? Early fall, no Shih-Tzu involved, but don’t discount the snake. No worries, there will be more teasers to follow.

Be looking for my post next month from the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. Stephen King (best psychological thrill writer ever) reportedly was inspired  to write about the Overlook Hotel, central to the movie, The Shining, while staying there. But this time, it won’t be Jack Nicholson breaking down the door saying, “Here’s Johnny!” Instead, I’ll just open and close the door, saying, “Here’s Nina.”

The Best Things About Winter

With Spring approaching, I found myself wondering what were the best things that winter has to offer. Of course, there is the holidays, no mowing, and no snakes. Last week, I said, “It’s too early for this!” That’s what I said when I found this little guy in the garage.

The Getaway Turns Giveaway

So, I had a nice weekend in Houston, Texas with my husband, Scot. Here, we are pictured at the Ristorante Cavour located inside the Hotel Granduca on Saturday night.

I felt so rejuvenated when we returned home, I thought I would share the wealth. I’m sponsoring a giveaway in Goodreads for 50 free books that started Tuesday. Here’s a link if you’re interested, https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/show/275718-the-blow-up-man. Good lucka!

Watching My Language

I’ve been writing this morning. If I was to learn anything from this reviewer, I need to watch my language. Probably not what you think, but it’s worth checking out; https://ron877.com/2017/10/12/research-gone-wrong/

My Golf Game is Lame?

Yesterday I took to the links with a friend, Janice Crosby. Before we teed off, she noticed the tires of my golf cart were looking a bit flat, suggesting I pull into her and her husband’s cart shed where they have a compressor ready to go. Once I pulled into the shed, my attention was soon averted by my twisted side . . . one that humors me, but worries others.  What I saw on the shelf in the shed was a prop of an amputated lower limb. I’ve got to get me one of those things. I thought it was crazy funny. However, it did turn out to be somewhat prophetic as to the fate of my round. I said to myself, Nina, your game was lame.

Appreciating a Reviewer, Jason Brown

When I decided to write psychological thrillers, it was because I thought the fiction world was a safe place to take the imagination to wild places. With that being said, just as long as I thought I could keep two feet on the ground and was able to focus clearly on what was real and what was not, I sought out to disturb people . . . and I’ve had a good time doing it. In a published review of my latest thriller, Envy Rots the Bones, Jason Brown gave what I felt was a detailed, genuine, and constructive review to the book’s strength and weaknesses. But never did I expect this video clip, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ul6cKcH0qw. It was above and beyond.

P.S. What does he consider the best book he ever read? Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451
