Reader B: What do you do for work when you’re not writing?
Helen: I’m an architect and domestic builder, running a house design and construction business. And writing is one of my serious hobbies. That’s why my debut Nuclear Power Nuclear Game took me 16 years to get published finally. I hope the sequel to my debut will be published by the end of next year.

Well done, Australia
Under the Aukus pack, Australia will build minimum eight nuclear-powered submarines with U.S & Britain. France is mad at Australia for scrapping the submarine deal and has recalled their ambassadors from Australia. Meanwhile, China is threatening Australia with its possible nuclear attack. Why?
For years, France has been one of the major countries betraying the free world and secretly hooking up with Communist China. The French submarines sold to Australia were middle range technology and equipped with many Chinese made items, that’s why China gave this deal a green light. However, this deal had many loopholes to Australian national security. By comparison, the new deal is equipped with the latest technology without China’s spying eyes.
Over the last two decades, China has started expanding its influence globally on the economy and politics. Australia’s vast land and rich resources have been of big interest to China, and China has gradually made ready to take over Australia through:
1. Isolating Australia, taking many countries around Australia as its allies, including New Zealand,
2. Showing its military power, sending submarines around Australian coastal areas.
3. Pressuring the Australian government, waging a relentless trade war against Australia
4. Forming a united front serving for its propaganda by bribing Australian officials, media, intellectuals…
5. Buying off Australian estate, …
Once again, Australia has withstood pressure internally and externally and made a decision for the best of the Australian interest. The new nuclear submarines will greatly strengthen Australian national security. It will stop China from stepping into Australian territory and reinforce anti-Communist China’s military aggression globally.
Well done, Australia.

Reader B: What did you do at the nuclear institute in China?
Helen: I was an architect there, designing hotels, residential buildings, etc. And I was never involved any nuclear power plant design.
From late 1980, the Chinese government started cutting fundings or privatising the state-owned enterprises. In order to make up the missing fund, Institute 1970 formed a new unit specially undertaking civil construction projects on top of the nuclear power plants. Of course, we knew the overall situation at the institute.

Wake up
Living under a totalitarian regime (CCP), 99.95% of people like my father choose to be tamed – but having burnt Baba’s self-criticism and thrown away 5 sets of Mao’s works, I felt a strange sense of lightness. The main characters in the book Zoe & her daughter came to represent the Chinese who eventually stood up and fought for their freedom.

My father and the five sets of Mao’s works
Baba was struggling to support the whole family, but he bought 5 sets of Chairman Mao’s works. Before leaving China, I decluttered the bookshelf on the attic and found two bundles of his self-criticism among Mao’s works. I read the papers until tears blurred my sight. Mao Zedong thought turned the Chinese into robotic slaves, and now Xi Jinping thought is bringing up a new generation of robotic slaves.

Brainwashing ended at 8pm daily
At the peak of the Culture Revolution, on top of writing his own endless self-criticism, my father gathered the whole family for studying Chairman Mao’s work or propaganda articles every night after dinner. He believed in Communism until he died, although he was never accepted by the CCP.

I don’t think political thrillers should only be a male domain.
It’s unusual to have a female nuclear scientist as a main character for a political thriller. But why not?
In my opinion, Chinese woman is the last hope of preserving the best Chinese culture and value, because her natural softness could give love and also conquer harshness.

good news
A black swan landed at Tiananmen square in front of Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum which is CCP’s ancestral temple. The whole of China is panic. According to the Chinese idiom: A wild bird entering into a temple indicates a nation’s subjugation. Is it happening?

Reader T: Did MI6 smuggle Igor Kuczinski out of Russia at the end?
Helen: Kuczinski’s final ending will be revealed in the second book. However, later Kuczinski did meet Zoe and asked for her forgiveness.
What is the ratio of MI6, CIA, KGB, MSS … fulfilling their promises? Love to hear from you.

What is the impact of the three men in Zoe’s life?
Kuczinski made her see the ugly human nature.
Major Liu took away her confidence and spirit.
John made her believe honesty and love still exist in this world.
Hope you have met someone like John in your life!
