Les Aventures de Madame Merveille! Comic Book! Opera!
I am here in Montreal, gearing up for the premiere of the opera that I wrote the libretto for (and conceived of the concept for!) Les Aventures de Madame Merveille, a live comic book opera, which was commissioned by ECM+ and the amazing artistic director Veronique Lacroix!
It's an amazingly fun experience. The music by Andre Ristic is fantastic. The direction by Marie Josee Chartier is wonderful. The art work by Michael Cho, Pascal Girard, Scott Hepburn and Cameron Stewart, projected and d...

Oh you LA Times Festival of Books, I love you!
This weekend was one of my fave times in LA. The LA Times Festival of books! Every year I love it! Books everywhere! 130,000 loving books everywhere! Amazing authors everywhere!
I always look forward to it. And I love when I get to participate in it! This year was especially wonderful because I got to interview the amazingly fun, wonderful and talented Meg Cabot (who always looks so pretty!) (and is a big dork like me!)
Meg Cabot explaining about where ideas come during her one on one!

Help the Virginia Avenue Project
Hello fellow people who love books and literacy and kids.
I'm helping Rachel Manija Brown with her effort to fund raise for the fabulous Virginia Avenue Project. It is a free afterschool program that uses the performing arts to help kids discover their full potential.
You can bid on my three YA novels (Boy Proof, Queen of Cool and Beige) signed. They are what I like to call my "Los Angeles Trilogy"
OK! Bid here.

A Palooza in Arizona!
This past weekend I had the pleasure of participating in a YA Palooza at Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe, AZ. It was a terrific time. The Los Angeles crew decided that it was a great oppurtunity for a road trip.
So Carol Snow, Blake Nelson, Mark London Williams and I packed into a car and set off like a band of touring authors.
At the book store, it was packed. We mix and mingled and had pizza. Then we broke off into groups and wrote a twelve sentence story with the audience by mixing up...
