Random Question of the Week: How Would You Describe Humanity to an Alien Civilization?

Picture Question for you. how would you describe humanity to an alien civilization? Before I tell you how I would explain it, let me explain what I'm doing here. I want to update my blog more frequently but I'm not very good at coming up with blog content. But, I found an idea today that may change that. Introducing, the Random Question of the Week (RQW). Every week, I'll post a random question and my answer. Of course, you're welcome (and encouraged) to answer the question yourself in the comments below. AND feel free to pose your own questions as well and maybe I'll pick one for the following week's post!

Alright, back to the question. It was "How would you describe humanity to an alien civilization?" Assuming I'm in the room with these aliens and don't have to explain our appearance, I would start out by telling them we are an intelligent species with many amazing accomplishments such as art, literature, and music. BUT we still have to put warning labels on poison that tells people not to ingest it. I would also tell them that when the different nations of the human race come together, amazing things can happen. We built the international space station with the help of several countries and humans live in space year round and conduct scientific experiments in order to better humanity. BUT we also argue with each other about which nation is better than the other. We humans can make amazing things when we put our mind to it. But we also spend a lot of time getting in our own way. I guess I would tell them we're complicated.

How would you describe the human race to an alien? Let me know in the comments below and feel free to drop your own question. I may use it next week!

Terror Tube

Picture No, it's not a haunted house on a subway train, although that would be awesome! Actually, it's the name of my YouTube short story series. I've been trying to come up with a name for these short stories for a while and finally I found one that I think works. Of course, I always invite your opinions below. So, introducing the new name of my YouTube series, Terror Tube. You can watch the latest installment below!

Behind the Scenes of The Drive|A Narrated Short Story

Picture Hey there and happy hump day!
Today, I wanted to give you all a little glimpse into my latest narrated short story and what went in to making it. This one in particular was interesting because of the footage I used. We'll get to that, but first I want to issue a challenge.

My YouTube Channel is currently at 24 subscribers. My goal over the next 30 days is to skyrocket that number to 100! And we can do that together. If you haven't already, please head over to my YouTube channel (either search booksbybond or click the video below) and click subscribe. And don't forget to share the channel as well! With your help, I know I can get the sub count up to 100. At 100 subscribers, I'll do some sort of giveaway!

Alright, on to the behind the scenes info. So, as I'm sure you are all aware, we've all been stuck at home the majority of the time these past few weeks. This has made coming up with footage ideas for my stories a challenge. I've got ideas for stories and imagery that would require public places or travel. With that, I had to get creative.

I was looking through some old photos on my hard drive and found some old video from a trip I took with my buddy Josh. We explored an abandoned neighborhood for his YouTube channel Live it Above 100. I had completely forgot about this footage. I had recorded the drive to the neighborhood and even a few laps around the place itself. It was supposed to be b-roll for his channel but he ended up not needing it. And it sparked the story for The Drive! So, not only was I able to write a story because of this extra footage but I had a ready made visual to pair it to.

You can watch The Drive below. And if you like what you hear, please consider subscribing to the channel. Let's get it to 100 subs! Thank you so much for your support.

Blog Re-branding

Picture Hello there!
I've decided to do a bit of re-branding for my blog. As you can see, I've gone with a simple design that should hopefully match the tone of my website. With this, I also want to focus on my blog much more than I have been. Of course, I'll use it to talk about writing, books, and other things. But what would you like to see me post? Let me know in the comments below!

YouTube Channel

Picture Hey there everyone,

Wanted to give a quick update today for those who haven't heard. I've got a YouTube channel called Books by Bond. Over on my channel, I will be posting narrated short stories written and narrated by myself. There are future plans for outside contributions as well but I have details to share on that as of yet.

The first story is up on my channel and I'll have a second later this week. My goal will be about 2 stories a month. I can't promise that amount at the moment but it's what I'm aiming for. Hopefully you give this story a listen and hopefully you like it. Please consider dropping it a like or, more importantly, subscribe to my channel! Click here.

Thanks for reading (and hopefully listening) and I'll catch ya next time.

Quarantine Promo

Picture      A lot of places are shutting down and postponing events lately due to the COVID-19. The WHO has declared this outbreak a pandemic which means governments and event coordinators need to take precautions to help stop the spread of the COIV-19 virus. And I wanted to do my part to help!

From now until the end of March, my e-books will be on sale for .99 cents. Cheap, at home entertainment! All 5 of my books can be purchased for under $5. If you're going to be staying in over the next couple weeks and want some good books to read, please consider checking them out! You can check them out on Amazon here.

Avoiding large crowds and areas of high traffic, especially places prone to international travel, can help reduce the spread of the virus. Remember, COVID-19 is especially deadly for elderly and those with compromised immune systems. Being precautions and being smart can help save lives, even if you don't fall into one of these categories. Wash you hands. Carry a little hand sanitizer with you. Don't go out if you're feeling sick. All easy steps to ensure this virus doesn't spread more than it already has.

Hopefully my book sale helps a handful of people want to stay home over the next few weeks and read. Stay healthy and safe everyone!

GHOST STORIES: HAUNTED BRIDGE

Picture INTRODUCTION: I've decided to start writing new blog posts about haunted places. Most of them will take place right here in Florida because I've visited the majority of them. Those places are more fun to write about for me. Since I'm currently writing a novel about a ghost, I figured this would be very appropriate. So, settle in for Ghost Stories, a blog series about haunted places.

May 9th, 1980 It was a stormy day with low visibility. A heavy wind had blown a tanker off course and it rammed straight into the support of the Skyway Bridge. This caused the southbound portion of the bridge to collapse into the ocean below. Six cars plummeted into the water below along with a large bus. Thirty-five people lost their lives that day.
There are several ghost stories around the Skyway bridge and Fort Desoto due to this disaster. Several people have claimed to see a spirit hitchhiker on the bridge in the middle of the night. Others have claimed to have picked up someone walking on the bridge, only for them to vanish.
Standing on the beach overlooking the bridge, some say you can hear whispers of ghosts as they wander the shores close to where their lives were lost. Just looking at the Skyway bridge and thinking on what happened there forty years ago, it's not hard to imagine the lost souls of the people who lost their lives. What do you think? Have you been to Fort Desoto and heard the ghostly whispers? Or have you seen a paranormal hitchhiker on the bridge? Let me know in the comments below!
