Join The Afterlife

Picture I can promise you the afterlife is a real place. I should know, I created it. The Afterlife is what I'm calling my exclusive members only section of my website/Patreon page.

I now have a members section on my website which I am calling the Afterlife. My new membership program is all based around my upcoming paranormal thriller After Death. Here's how it all works.

There are two ways to join. Through my website store OR through Patreon. On Patreon, there are two tiers. Lone Spirit and Hell Hound. Lone Spirit ($1 a month tier) gets access to Patreon-only posts which will include blog updates about my writing. Hell Hound ($5 a month tier) gets you access to Patreon AND my website membership. That's where all the exclusive content will be. Flash Fiction, short stories, exclusive photos, info, and much more!

If you decide to join through my website, it is just a one time payment for a lifetime membership. That will get you member status to ALL the Afterlife content on my website FOR LIFE. Or, at least until you enter the REAL afterlife. I'll be linking everything below.

I'm really excited about this new transition to exclusive content on my website and I hope you are too. There are so many cool things coming to those who sign up. Don't miss out!

Burn the Witch

Picture I was more of a Goosebumps kid. Never read a Fear Street book before. When I saw the trailer for the Fear Street movie on Netflix, I knew it would be right up my alley. I wasn't disappointed.

Fear Street 1994 has the same horror vibes as, say, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark but with much more gore. And maybe speaks to an older audience. Which makes sense. Scary Stories was more of a kids book. And Fear Street was more of a YA horror series, if I'm not mistaken.

The plot of Fear Street 1994 is a lot of fun. It follows a lot to the same tropes as any slasher film before it, except with the added twist of witches and zombies, sort of? I can't really say much more than that without spoiling something.

The movie series comes in 3 parts. 1994, 1978, and 1666. At the time of writing this, I have only seen 1994. Though, 1666 comes out today. I'll probably have caught up by the time you've read this. But I can't talk about the series as a whole yet. However, 1994 was a good, fun horror tale and I can't wait to see where the rest of the series goes. Let me know what you thought of Fear Street 1994!

Shhh!

Picture This month's horror corner features a new movie called A Quiet Place Part II. I was a big fan of the first one. The concept was fresh and original. The monsters were terrifying. A sequel had me worried because I didn't know where they could go from there. How do you keep the monsters scary after you know how to beat them? Well, A Quiet Place Part II delivers.

I can't say much about the overall plot without spoiling anything for you. But John Krasinski finds a way to keep the tension going all without changing the monsters at all. Often times in movies like these, you'll see the sequel ramp up the monsters with some sort of mutation or new ability to create something new for the protagonist to fight. This movie does not do that and it works so well.

There were moments in the theater where I knew what was about to happen and yet the tension was so high that it still made me jump. If you enjoyed the first movie, you will definitely love the sequel. If you haven't seen it yet, go and check it out! You'll have a lot of fun.

If you've seen A Quiet Place Part II, let me know what you thought of it. Did you like it? Or what didn't you like? I look forward to hearing back from you!

Why Wait?

Picture Amazon announced this week that Kindle Vella will be available for readers this July! As you may be aware, I'm excited for Kindle Vella. If you're unaware of what Kindle Vella is, let me give you the TL;DR version. Serialized stories from your favorite authors. And I have my own coming out. It's called Beyond. Amy Hart gets more than she bargained for when she goes looking for paranormal proof.

I want Kindle Vella to do well so I can create more serialized stories for readers to enjoy in the future. However, I also want what's best for my readers. As of now, Kindle Vella will only be available on Amazon.com and on the IOS Kindle App, but not on actual Kindle devices. I think that's a poor move, but that doesn't matter. What does matter is making sure you all have a fair chance of reading what I create.

So, here's the deal. I will be posting each episode of Beyond early over on Patreon. Each month, you will be able to read the episodes before anyone else. This reward will be available for all tiers. Which means, you can read Beyond for as low as $1. Not bad, right?

Of course, if you want to read Beyond over on Kindle Vella and you're willing to wait for next month to get the first episode, that's great. I encourage that as well. The more authors and readers who take advantage of Kindle Vella, the better the platform will do. But, if you don't want to wait, episode one is available now over on Patreon. You can sign up here. I hope you enjoy this upcoming story, however you chose to read it!

Fast Zombies

Picture Let's talk about Train to Busan. More specifically, the new sequel that came our recently. Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula. The first Train to Busan movie was incredible. One of the best zombies movies I've seen in a long time. Though, there was a recent movie on Netflix called #Alive that was pretty damn close. But back to Train, I had high hopes for Peninsula due to my love of the original.

I can't say I disliked Peninsula. It was a lot of fun and I liked it a lot. But it was nowhere near as good as the first Train to Busan movie. It has some crazy horrors of its own. Like the game the survivors play with kidnapped people they call stray dogs. I won't ruin what they do, but yeah. It's dark.

All in all, Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula was a fun zombie movie but it didn't live up to the original, in my opinion. Though, I would still recommend both movies as they are great zombie flicks in their own right. The first movie is all subtitled but the sequel has a some moments of English. I'm not one to enjoy subtitled movies as I feel it takes away from the visual experience. But they do such a good job with these movies, that I didn't even notice I was reading for most of the movie. Give them a watch and let me know what you think!

Kindle Vella and You

Picture What is Kindle Vella?
Kindle Vella is a new storytelling option coming to Kindle in the next few months. Authors can tell serialized stories one story at a time. Readers can unlock each episode by purchasing tokens. Basically, you're paying the author for each story you choose to read. There will also be an interactive system where readers are able to like and react to their favorite stories. As of now, it does not seem like there is a comment function, though I hope this is added in the future.

Why is Kindle Vella so cool?
I'm glad you asked. Kindle Vella allows us authors to interact with our audience in a much more direct way. Full length books are written in the privacy of our offices while the entirety of the story unfolds before us. We never know if readers will enjoy the full story until it's completed. With Kindle Vella, we get a chance to interact with readers in real time. We both get to watch the story unfold together. It's like writing a book before your eyes!

Why should I jump on Kindle Vella?
Alright, this is a two part answer. If you're an author, jumping on Kindle Vella is a great idea. Not only does it give you the opportunity to create more content, but it allows you to interact with your audience and build an even bigger one. Plus, the more content available on Kindle Vella at launch, the more successful the platform will be. I feel like this platform has a lot of positive potential. The more great writers on it, the better.

For readers, Kindle Vella will be a fun adventure. You can get more content from your favorite authors and watch the story unfold before your eyes. It's like watching a TV show for your imagination. If you are a bookworm like me, you'll love how much more reading content you will get on Kindle Vella. Not to mention, you get to support and influence your favorite writers like never before.

What are you doing on Kindle Vella?
Man, you're asking some good questions today! I'm so glad you asked. As I've stated in a previous post, I'm working on a series titled Beyond. Amy Hart is a paranormal investigator with a successful book series outlining haunted places. But Amy isn't a true believe in ghosts. That all changes when she is contacted from the other side. This sets Amy on the hunt for more proof and she quickly learns not everything is friendly in the beyond.

But I'm taking Kindle Vella a step further. Each episode will be posted on Patreon early for all my patrons to read. AND patrons will get the opportunity to influence the story by leaving comments, voting, and discussing what they would like to see next. The best part about that is, you won't need to pay per episode on Kindle Vella if you sign up for Patreon. I'll be dropping the first episode early next month so head over to Patreon and sign up today!

The Friendship Onion

Picture If you know me, then you know I'm absolutely obsessed with Lord of the Rings. I watch the movies a few times a year and I used to read the books at least once a year. I haven't read them in a while, but I think it's overdue. So naturally, when I heard Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan, Pippin Took and Merry Brandybuck from LOTR respectively, were developing a podcast together I had to subscribe.

I know what you're thinking. The Friendship Onion is an odd title. What does it mean? Well, like Ogres, Billy and Dom's friendship has multiple layers. During this podcast, they will be peeling back the layers and talking about the different aspects of their friendship from the set of Lord of the Rings to their personal lives.

I love Billy and Dom. They're great fun to follow on social media. Billy Boyd is hilarious and Dom Monaghan is inspiring. Having these two together on a podcast is such a delight. The first episode dropped earlier this week and I highly recommend you check it out if you love Lord of the Rings. They have already given some fun insight to what it was like filming that movie from their point of view. I'm excited to see what else they have in store!

If you want to check out The Friendship Onion for yourself, you can listen to them on your favorite podcast app OR you can check them out on YouTube. Right here, in fact. You can watch them eat Twinkies for the first time. I can't believe they've never eaten a Twinkie before. I hope you enjoy their podcast as much as I am. Let me know in the comments below what your favorite scene from Lord of the Rings is!

Beyond- Kindle Vella

Picture Introducing, Beyond. A Kindle Vella exclusive.

What's Kindle Vella? Well, I'm glad you asked. Kindle Vella is a new feature being rolled out by Amazon in the coming months. Authors will be able to share serialized stories with readers. Which means, you will get more content from some of your favorite authors. And content you might be able to directly influence by liking your favorite episodes. If you want to learn more about how Kindle Vella works, click here

I want to tell you about my Kindle Vella story Beyond. Amy Hart is an author and paranormal investigator. Her book series Haunts has her exploring haunted and abandoned locations for proof of the afterlife. Being a skeptic herself, most of the series centers around the true horrific stories of murder that gave rise to the legends surrounding these locations. But when Amy has a paranormal experience of her own, she's becomes obsessed with finding more. She's led down a dark rabbit hole where she learns there are things to fear in the beyond.

If this sounds like something you would read, definitely consider checking it out on Kindle Vella when it's released. Amazon has yet to announce when Kindle Vella is launching, so if you want to be kept informed of when this story will be available, you can sign up for my monthly newsletter and I'll be sure to keep you updated. But there is one other way to read Beyond if you don't have a Kindle. Patreon! Each episode of Beyond will be releasing on Patreon alongside Kindle Vella. Consider signing up for my Patreon page and get access to those episodes for no additional cost. If you want to check out my Patreon and all the cool rewards you can get there, check it out here.

Let me know what you think of Kindle Vella in the comments below. Will you be checking out my story and others?

Ghosts and YouTube

Picture Hello horror fans!
Welcome back to my horror corner. A place where I talk about all things creepy and spooky. TV shows, books, Podcasts, and more! Each month, I will share with you something from the horror genre that I enjoy or have discovered. If you want more, you can sign up for my monthly newsletter to get horror corner and more delivered to your inbox every month. If you want a little extra spooky in your life, you can head over to Patreon and become a member. I will share bonus content from Horror Corner over there. Happy haunting!

One of my absolute favorite YouTube channels has to be Amy's Crypt. I can hear you asking, what's Amy's Crypt? Well, you've come to the right corner. Amy's Crypt is a paranormal investigation channel on YouTube. Amy travels the world and her home country of Australia for proof of the paranormal.

Here's why I like her channel so much. Instead of taking every little knock and sound as proof of ghosts, she's a skeptic. I can relate to her channel because of this. I've watched other channels where they clearly fake and pad their results. I mean, come on. How many times can you get a Ouija board to work for you? I'm looking at you Sam and Colby!

Amy's Crypt is fun. And even when she's not drowning in paranormal activity or proof, she's giving you the history of the abandoned places that she's visiting. And, more often than not, the scary stories behind the places are scarier than any ghost story could be. If you love abandoned places, the paranormal, and Australian accents, check out her channel. I can't recommend it enough! You can find her channel here and tell her I sent you. She has no idea who I am, so I'm not sure what good that will do. But, you know, tell her anyway.
