Review of Book :Samvednayein by Dr Avinish Singhal

I got the chance to read this book on poetry while in a Library in USA .

Book has been penned down by an Author from Chaatisgarh ,   who is a Doctor too having varied interest in different fields of life like social service , carrom board , volleyball .

Book is written in Hindi & has 77 poems . Some of the poems are penned down in 3 pages , and a few of them even in 2 lines .

I liked his small poems penned down between 2 & 5 lines .

The poems convey the emotions of 48 year old author who has penned down his first book like me .

In the preface of the Book , the Author has used the word ‘ Havan ‘ in the context of gratitude to the persons who helped him in penning this book of 83 pages .

Poems I liked :

1 Poem number 75 : named Kala .( 2 liner )  This aptly expresses the attitude of the poet .

2 Poem number 12 : Junoon ( 6 liner ) . It describes the feelings of poet why he wrote this book .

Cover Pic , font of Book : Thums Up

Book Review : Gandhi With The Gun by Divyesh Dutta

Ever since I published my first Book on short stories : Journey from Guwahati to Machhiwara : I try to read mostly the new Authors .

I came across this book in one of the libraries in USA . And  when I read the Authors name & his home town Jallandhar , I was eager to read this book . In fact Jallandhar ( Punjab ) is my home town & I also did my Post Graduation in English from DAV Jallandhar years back from where this theatre artist studied .

The book has 24 chapters & 187 pages . I completed the book in less than a week & I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book .

Its a story of You , Me & Love : Jihad .

A lover is separated from the girl he loves in the name of religion . Raghav is the hero & Smyra is the other character . Their love story is weaved in an intrinsic way . There are lot of twists in the story . Gandhi with the Gun is another  character in the novel set in Varanasi .

Highlight of the book : Simple narration & unusual story line .

Tactical detail : Cover page , font size & quality of printing of book : Thums Up

Overall verdict : A Good Read : 4 Stars

Book Review : Bonds of Freedom by Shalini Keswani

Ever since I published my first Book on short stories : Journey from Guwahati to Machhiwara 3 years back , I try  to read mostly the new Authors .

I got a chance to read Bonds of Freedom by Shalini Keswani . I borrowed the book from a library in USA . The size of book : 400 pages told me that it will be a tough job to complete , keeping in mind my hectic schedule of work & my commitment to write for newspapers & magazines .

But I did complete the book in less than a weeks time & I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book :

A story of love & ambition set around the creation of a dream school in the Little Red Dot of Asia , Singapore .

The story has 3 main characters : Shekharan  & Angela . I will not name the third character . But the number of other characters in the novel are more than 20 if we count  them . I tried counting the characters but always  skipped the full list . But I do remember the name of Naveen , husband of the Author who stays in Malaysia .

The book is divided into various sections & there are 82 short incidents ( stories ) . All of these are related to each other .

Highlight of the book : Story line . Book has both prose & poetry in it .

Tactical Details : Cover page , font size & quality of printing of book : Thums Up

Overall verdict : A Good Read : 4 Stars

Book available from Notion Press , Amazon

ISBN code : 978-1-64249-532-4

Strings of My Heart

I got the opportunity to read this book a few days back, I didn’t had a slightest inkling of what kind of stories I would get to read in this book. When I started reading it I realised the book has stories on variety of topics. Some are urban, others belong to rural India, yet others give us a retro feel and few stories are also from overseas. But mostly they light, but insightful showcasing human nature in various situations. I enjoyed reading them thoroughly.

77312BBB-09AA-4B8A-A967-EEDE3D83DDF0.jpegThe author Mr. Rajiv Bakshi has used simple and fluid language and readers of all age group can read and enjoy the stories. When I read this book, I remembered the much loved comedy tale serial Dekh Bhai Dekh. This serial had innocence, the jokes were simple and clean. The book Guwahati to Machhiwara is same, with very beautiful, simple…

Book Review : Hindi Poetry Book

Review of Book : Oas Ki Boondein ( Book on Hindi poetry ) by Sapna Kekre ( Shivani )

Ever since I published my first Book on short stories : Journey from Guwahati to Machhiwara , I keep getting genuine requests from fellow Authors to write a Review / even a Foreword to their Books . But this time I got request from Sapna Kekre who stays in Malaysia to write a Review of her poetry .

I am no great lover  of  poetry . But this being my first Hindi book for which I was given the task of writing a Review , I read the book in my leisure hours . I have a fairly good knowledge of reading my mother tongue , but sorry Sapna , I tried but could not Review your book in Hindi . May be I can Review your second book in Hindi .

The Book : Oas Ki Boondein is an interesting read . The emotions of the Author are visible in all the 27 poems . The book has been divided in two parts : first part has 21 poems & they have been penned down keeping in view ( DIL ) ie from the heart . The second part is more serious & philosophical which covers 6 poems . It looked nice when Shivani used my favourite word # Journey to describe : Journey of life .

According to me one of the best poem penned down is : Yaadein . Then comes : Aurat Tu Kaun Hai ?

Tactical Details : Cover page , font size and quality of printing of book :

Thumbs  Up

Overall verdict : A Good Read : 5 stars
