We did it! Global Warming Accountability Bill One Step Closer to Law
A BIG THANK YOU to the thousands of David Suzuki Foundation supporters who wrote to their Members of Parliament to urge them to vote "Yes" for the Climate Change Accountability Act (Bill C-311). Right up until the vote, we weren't sure it would pass. But a big push by the David Suzuki Foundation along with other environmental organizations, and individuals from across Canada gave the Bill the support it needed in the House of Commons to pass second reading. New report: Nuclear won't solve climate change
According to an article on the Scientific American website, a new report has found that nuclear power plants can't be built quickly or safely enough to be a major global solution for climate change. Issued by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the report says that under its current policies and financing the nuclear industry won't be able to build enough new reactors to make a difference in solving global warming in the next 20 years.

Meet a new fish species...psychedelica
The Globe and Mail recently reported that a psychedelic-looking fish that bounces on the ocean floor like a rubber ball has been classified as a new species. The frogfish was nicknamed "psychedelica," by a professor who wrote a scientific paper about the discovery. No word on whether the fish like listening to Jimi Hendrix or illuminating their habitat with a lava lamp...

Judge your global warming info very carefully...
A thoughtful article in today's New York Times discusses the tendency towards hype by both sides of the climate debate. If anything, it's a good reminder that readers need to get all sides of a debate in order to make informed decisions.
