National Novel Writing Month

November is IT. This is the month when things cool down (weather wise in my neck of the woods, anyhow). It’s when you’re indoors more than out. Or maybe you’re not. Everyone’s moved from the desktop to the laptop or composing great pieces of literature on a cell phone. Or, if you’re like me, you do most of your writing while exercising, paddleboarding, walking, talking to friends and family, driving, riding on a train, anything literally other than writing.

Writing takes place in the subconscious, before you sit down to tap it out on the QWERTY. While you’re doing other things, your brain is making little puzzle pieces, little scenes and character conversations that hang in cartoon bubbles until you string them together. After your brain jelly has compiled this Matrix style of shoe box narratives, you can sow them together. I believe the National Novel Writing Month is the time to make the pieces.

If you’ve considered trying your hand at writing a novel, now is the time. Or just shoot for a short story or novella or a collection of flash fiction. No one says you have to write a novel. There’s support here and on the social medias following the relevant hashtags. Connect with other writers. Struggle these thirty-days with other wordsmith masochists to knock out something that sucks or not. Just get it down over this next month and spend the rest of the cold weather editing, getting it right. Wasn’t it Hemingway who said to write drunk, edit sober? Write however you want. But join me in taking the next thirty-days to get it down even if the first words are sloppy. We can massage it later.

Best of luck, everyone.

Creature Weekend

Next and last stop on the CHASING DISCLOSURE book tour is the Creature Weekend held end of October 2018. The 26th to the 28th, to be exact. It’ll be my first cryptid conference. Join me and many more at the Salt Fork State Park in Cambridge, Ohio. It’ll be the perfect place to be just before Halloween.

Michigan’s first UFO Conference

We’re almost there. In a month I’ll be parking it in the vendor area with numerous copies of CHASING DISCLOSURE available. I, too, however, will be in the audience to catch what our speakers have to say. Come by and say hello in between presentations or stay long after and into the evening to chat about this incredible topic (no matter what your persuasion). And meet the face and inspiration of CHASING DISCLOSURE’s young tormented heroine, Jacqueline Vincent! And the real life Snoozy Bear she never lets go.

Two Weeks of Influential Books

Daily, for the next two weeks starting today (July 8, 2018), I’ll be posting the fourteen books on Twitter and Facebook that influenced my interests and own writings. So if you don’t follow/friend me there, no worries. You can find more than fourteen in my RECOMMENDS section at this website. But if you want the story behind the top fourteen, well, you’ll have to join me and be social!

First Michigan UFO Conference

I’m pleased to be part of the first UFO conference being held in my home state of Michigan. It’s the Michigan UFO Con-tact conference. I understand rooms and tickets are going quick so if you want to come, get them now. Excellent line up of speakers, lots of vendors (including yours truly as part of the CHASING DISCLOSURE book tour). Hope to see you there!

On the Almost Educational Podcast

I and Roejen Razorwire joined Patrick at the Almost Educational podcast to discuss the decades long meddling of the UFO community by intelligence agencies, providing cover for black budget projects and literally driving one man to a mental hospital. You’ll wanna take notes for this one. Or use red yarn to make the links on a large wall. Enjoy!

Book Tour – Change of Plans

Instead of heading to Philadelphia as expected this October, I’m planning on attending something a little different than another UFO conference.

October 26th through the 28th is the Creature Weekend at the Salt Fort State Park in Ohio. A Cryptid Conference! Why not? Besides, Stanton Friedman is scheduled to be there and since he announced his retirement from UFOlogy this year, I’d like a chance to catch up with him before he calls it quits.

So below is the new calendar.

If you are aware of any other conferences or day events in line with UFOs, religious studies, ancient history, artificial intelligence, literature and writing or any of my other interests, drop me a line. I’m always looking for new adventures to be had and network.
