A Reflectionless Mirror
I realised today
That inner me and outer me
Are often two different people
People who struggle to communicate
And the conversation gets distorted
Like Chinese whispers
So inner me
The truer me
Is often misrepresented
And once you’re misrepresented
People talk to you
And judge you
As if you were someone else
And you end up feeling
Like a man wearing a mask
That inner me and outer me
Are often two different people
People who struggle to communicate
And the conversation gets distorted
Like Chinese whispers
So inner me
The truer me
Is often misrepresented
And once you’re misrepresented
People talk to you
And judge you
As if you were someone else
And you end up feeling
Like a man wearing a mask

Photo
Today I fell in love
With a girl
In a photo
Behind glass
At the hairdresser
She had beautiful blond hair
Blue eyes
And a smile
That convinced me
Of god’s existence
And as I stood there
Looking at this girl
I thought to myself:
Am I lovelorn
Or just crazy
With a girl
In a photo
Behind glass
At the hairdresser
She had beautiful blond hair
Blue eyes
And a smile
That convinced me
Of god’s existence
And as I stood there
Looking at this girl
I thought to myself:
Am I lovelorn
Or just crazy
Masculinity
You can’t replace a tyre?
Sissy
You can’t throw a punch?
Pussy
You can’t climb a rope?
Pansy
You can’t start a barbecue?
Wimpy
You can’t hide your feelings?
Wussy

Restless
One day
I lay in a field
With pretty flowers
And long grass
Hissing in the wind
I closed my eyes
And tried to do nothing
But it wouldn’t come
Because I kept thinking and feeling
And that’s when I realised
That you can’t do nothing
You have to let nothing be done to you
You have to let it release your grip
Of yourself
And as you go soft on the ground
The world lulls you
Into its sleep
I lay in a field
With pretty flowers
And long grass
Hissing in the wind
I closed my eyes
And tried to do nothing
But it wouldn’t come
Because I kept thinking and feeling
And that’s when I realised
That you can’t do nothing
You have to let nothing be done to you
You have to let it release your grip
Of yourself
And as you go soft on the ground
The world lulls you
Into its sleep

Loneliness
Loneliness
The familiar foe
Holding onto you
Keeping you from the show
How do you conquer an illness
So deep within
Well, you swallow your pride
And tape your heart to your skin
The familiar foe
Holding onto you
Keeping you from the show
How do you conquer an illness
So deep within
Well, you swallow your pride
And tape your heart to your skin

Walking Blind With Clear Vision
Thrown into a world
I don’t understand
Figure it out
Have a plan
I turn to books
Ask friends and family
But life, really
Is a lone journey
So I’ll walk ahead blind
With clear vision
And fight the enemy within
Indecision
I don’t understand
Figure it out
Have a plan
I turn to books
Ask friends and family
But life, really
Is a lone journey
So I’ll walk ahead blind
With clear vision
And fight the enemy within
Indecision
Killing Sadness
I woke up one day
Sad and lonely
So I got in my car
Bright and early
I drove to the beach
Dimpled the sand
And passed sunbathers
Pretty and tanned
At the end of the beach
A lighthouse stood tall
I walked to the edge
And looked down at the fall
The ocean churned
Blue and true
And there my sadness flew
Like a sneeze, achoo
Sad and lonely
So I got in my car
Bright and early
I drove to the beach
Dimpled the sand
And passed sunbathers
Pretty and tanned
At the end of the beach
A lighthouse stood tall
I walked to the edge
And looked down at the fall
The ocean churned
Blue and true
And there my sadness flew
Like a sneeze, achoo
